GT5 News - Nurburgring update (pre-E3 edition)

It's the race sponsor actually. Every car has a big ass Gran Turismo sticker on the windshield as well.

Cockpit view is way too dark... I hope they fix that for the final game.

At least it's not as dark as GT PSP. :p

on those pics its covered in shadows thats why its too dark and when you go against the sun it darkens quite a bit

It would be awesome if we could get so many cars in GT6 or 7.

MAG already confirmed that PSN network scripts and current PS3 hardware is capable of running 256 independent players in one hosted game.

Although it is very unimaginable that PS3 would be capable to run more than 16 players in the same time when graphics and physics are taken in concern, it remains to be seen what assets will Polyphony use for PS4 and first PS4 GT game in order to raise number of players.

I would't be surprised if GT series goes through some radical evolution with GT6 where game would become separate platform for MMOR game as far as online is concerned.

It is a great business possibility - we all know what iRacing did in that universe - and some massive Gran Turismo Online platform - not a game - would be the perfect start for PS4.

Looking at the video feed of the 24hr race reminds me of something that is missing from the cockpit view in GT5. Glass. There's no windscreen in GT5. It's like looking through an open window. It'd be great to see some reflections in the glass.

I'd go with the clearest view possible. In real life it's easy for the eyes to look beyond reflections and focus on track. Not so much in videogame.

I can appreciate that but when you see real cockpit footage and then game cockpit footage its absence is quite noticeable. Really it would just add to the overall atmosphere, it's not terribly important. Shift did it quite well (one of the few things it did do well, mind) by just having the top of the dashboard gently reflected.
And surely it wouldn't affect the games performance much, if at all? Like I say, not terribly important but a nice little touch.

Can't see the difference in clarity? Seems pretty obvious to me.

Yeah, even without reflections it's very clear that there is a windscreen.

But hey, this is GRAN TURISMO 5.............people need to nitpick or else we'd have nothing to talk about.

Because overall the game is looking pretty flawless.

problem is that in real life, you wont notice windscreen while driving, as your brain picks it out as not important information, while sitting in your chair at home, you notice it a lot more... Shift did that and complete head movement well, and it was cool, however you do not feel/see that while you are actually driving, or you would certainly get motion sickness every time you go anywhere ;-).

Exactly.

Clear view & static camera is the way to go. Everything else is fake and unrealistic, not to mention borderline nauseating and/or distracting for many people.

GT definitely needs more options though. A customizable HUD and the ability to disable (or enable) certain effects like the camera shake or a dusty windscreen can't be too hard to implement ?

You should have to go to GT Auto to clean your windshield. ;) Btw did GT5P have anything like it? I've played very little of it.

Static cam is definitely not realistic oO

For a title to have so much attention to detail...questioning the implementation of the windshield (specifically how it reflects/refracts light) is valid. This is something that really can affect driving, so it's not exactly nitpicking.

Traditionally cars in GT get dirty. Afaik it began in GT3, but it could be that GT2 also had the possibility to wash your car. I wouldn't be surprised that cars in GT mode get dirty over time, including windshields. This should amplify the effect of light hitting the windshield.

Game should have the G25/27 as the mandatory peripheral. But i understand they have to push the GT branded wheel. Too bad.

This game is not even on my radar anymore. I'm ashamed my username is after this series, but truth be told i will have to buy it at some point because...can you be a racing fan and not buy it?

Why you hating on GT?

He is more tired of waiting than hating the game, and the same started happening here with the last delay.
He hasn't been promised anything, if GT5 didn't drop when he expected it to than tuff luck.

That live streaming of the event is just the one camera angle?

It switched to that when they started racing at night. Before then they had multiple angles such as helicopters and cockpit views. I'm not sure why they're still focused on the pit area.

Pages of info and I'm too busy to read it at the moment. :lol

Just making my mark here so I know what to catch up on. Start from Pg 66...

9 hours ago before i left for sleep i checked the stats for Yamauchi's team, and they had 8 pit stops.

I just checked now, and they still have 8 pit stops. Someone drove like a motherfucker tonight. :D
