GT5 Patch 1.05 - Kaz listens! Online XP/Cr, Removable HUD, Offline Mech Damage!

Two questions

So .. what other main gripes should be patched up? It would be good to keep track of issues and when it was fixed (ie patch version, etc ..)

Are you guys ok with cutting content to stabilize perf? In this patch, it's cutting the crowd. What else can be cut get the game closer to locking the frame rate and minimizing the tears .. of course w/o taking away from the game.

ok, technically 3 questions

The crowd looks like shit in most cases anyways, so I say cut em.

Kinda depends on the content, first spectators, then flags, then the flowers that move with the wind, etc etc... before you know it even the GT5 tracks look like shit.

As for the stuff I want patched

- Performance Points
- Stock/Tuned filter for online races
- No time limit after finish in online races
- Slow Motion/Fast Forward (and Rewind if possible) on replays
- Online B-spec (and I don't mean GT Anywhere, go to races with your B-spec driver and race against other peoples B-spec drivers)
- Option to remove race stuff from the HUD but actually keep the instruments. :lol

Sweet, can't wait to get home and actually play the game instead of just b-spec for the past two weeks :lol

And finally, a changelog. Hallelujah!

This patch alleviates the grinding and really shows that PD is listening to its fans, unlike Turn 10.

That's cuz Forza came with most of the 'requirements' out of the box :D

I know I will mostly play online now thanks to this patch, and that's awesome :)
Now we also need leaderboards. I don't care about my ranking against the whole world, but I'd like to know how I fare against my friends.

Good, register on the NRL :D

Now that online XP and Credits are in maybe we can get more people interested in the NeoGAF Racing League. Common guys, no one cares if you suck, and it's not a big commitment, you race when you can.

AHHH! I ALMOST got 2nd place in the Nissan GT-R SSR5 5 laps. But holy crap 1st place is still like 19seconds in front of me. How in the hell?

Why do so many people care about a locked save file?

Because with a locked save file: Crashed PS3 or HDD = lost game progress (unless you frequently perform full system backups - but even that doesn't help if you have to get a new PS3, because then you can't get the locked save over to that PS3 anyway).

I would be perfectly fine with cutting stuff you just see in passing to increase performance. For me, in a racing game, the performance of the racing engine itself is the most important thing. I don't care if the clock tower in the background is meticulously detailed.

Online Dealership? Holy shit. I mentioned that in the OT and thought it'd be an awesome idea to incorporate. I never imagined it would arrive and that it would arrive this early :lol

I don't have the game yet, but this makes me even more excited to get it.

Perhaps the game started off as kind of a disappointment to some, but if they keep cranking out updates like this and continue to listen to feedback... pretty sure it will end up being more satisfactory.

Kaz read your post.

Excellent update but WTF @ 600mb ???
This reeks bad organisation (too much code that is data dependant and they need a huge patch to change small stuff).

You could say that about every game on the platform.

I understand now.

Also back in the day of good old memory cards it was common place to transport your saves to/from friends houses so that you could work on games files at any location. I guess it's just not that common anymore since profiles, online account and locked saves have turned into such a shit show.

Bravo PD. It takes some other devs months to make these kinds of changes. When you consider how long it took PD to actually make the game, I'm surprised they are updating it so quickly.

I am sure some of our requests were planned anyway, so tha tprobably sped things up.

Please only fix the tearing for now, then after that premium cars.

Thanks for listening to the fans, and the XP/CR is AWESOME, now i might actually get to drive the X10 :lol

(only i have no cars for the bonus race fuuuu)

I really think they should just lock save games to your PSN account and allow USB transport of everything including profile.

I miss that.

I'm not sure if this was this update or not. But now when you're in the race selection window you can select garage when viewing racing requirements and it opens the garage right on top of where you are. :D

No need to back all the way out to the main screen, go to garage and by then forget what the requirements were.

That was always there dude. :lol

:lol People buying the game in about a year will have to wait 4-5 hours before seeing the title screen. Lovely.

Heck, maybe if we make enough noise they'll create cloud saves for GT5. I already have my profile on several friends machines, it would even be easier than manually copying to USB each transfer.

In the present day we have things such as the Steam Cloud, it would be nice if there was a PS version.

OMG AT THE HUD REMOVAL: THANK YOU PD.
