GTA VI delayed to November 19 2026

GTA 5 came out in September of 2013.

Red Dead Redemption 2 came out in October of 2018.

So it has been over 13 years since the last GTA and 7 years since the last RDR game. This delay will add a minimum of a year to both. I am not sure what else to call it besides incredibly poorly managed and gross incompetence.

Is this the famous 'MS gonna bribe Rockstar so they delay GTAVI till NextBox launch' cheat code? 🤔🤔🤔

Am I the only one who doesn't care about gta?
I liked Vice City and San Andreas.
About an hour of GTA IV was enough to make me uninstall it and never return. Had no interest in GTA V after that.
From my perspective, the continual improvement in Rockstar's technology and technical capabilities has done more harm than good to those games. They're too good at being cinematic storytellers now (same boat as a lot of studios). The titles that are pure gaming interactivity with little in-between have become an endangered species.

Because it's an honest question. It feels like everyone wants this thing but me?

It is the next entry in one of the most successful franchises of all time, so is it really that surprising that there's lots of people interested in it ?

edit: I guess that's funny 🤷‍♂️

Sounds to me like they want lower competition for game of the year..
Whether they deserve it or not Rockstar won't have much competition for GOTY no matter what time they release.

I should finally buy 5…
I know this may be a unpopular opinion but 5 is so goddamn boring and IMO the weakest GTA game (that being said I've never playing anything prior to GTA III but those are almost an entirely different series of games anyway).

I just found the writing to be boring, the characters boring, and despite Los Santos being their most realized location to date I find it to be the most soulless. It probably doesn't help that they focused so hard on GTA Online which I'm completely disinterested in.

That combined with the fact that the American South is completely uninteresting to me my hype for GTA 6 is actually pretty low.

Good, I'll be able to merge the long vacation from work I was planning to take on GTA VI's release with the usual end of year leave.

Plus, I might even be able to take advantage of Black Friday to pick up some fancy 2026 high-end TV specifically for this game.

Speaking of GTA VI and GOTY, I wouldn't be too surprised if it was overlooked.

GTA VI is to other AAA Games like the Nintendo Wii was to PS3/X360: the success will be so huge and unbeatable that people redraw their minds' boundaries so it's not in contention.

GTAV and RDR2 continue to sell well, and GTA Online continues to print money. That's because Rockstar takes their time to get it right. That's not "gross incompetence", that's "excellent management" because they clearly understand that launching the game before its ready will prevent the game from doing the business they know it can do.

As a biased GTA simp I believe in absurd levels of detail.
RDR2 was already insane, if they go even further with this one it honestly doesn't surprise me they need all this time to polish and make it work.

please papa take two
just six more months bro
just six months, it'll be awesome
just a little spitshine n polish, that's it
we'll never ask you again, honest
last time ever

Theres really zero point outside huge FOMO to play this game in the current gen...if you are planning to update in 27

This is what happens when the entire industry got gaslit by journalists into a policy of "no crunch", when anybody who ever did a paper in college knows that the pressure of the deadline and the crunch is how anything get finished.

Waiting for GTA6 is a looooooooooooong, looooooooooooong road!

Also if you don't want any spoilers, people love to spoil Rockstar games, RDR1 got spoiled for me, so did 2, all the easter eggs for V were spoiled fast, you either play one of their games day 1 or you get used to them not having any surprises.

But the idea of me playing it on launch is basically fucked now, can't justify a PS5 in a year since PS6 is likely for 2027.

Well I think spoiling this game playing it at 30 fps with (probably) huge compromises is much worse ... its like spoiling a great new movie seeing it on fcking airplane screen with dogshit sound.

what if its delayed so the PC version comes out at the same time?

have the leaked playstation/pc crossbuy feature included as a Sony only promo

atleast the gta online part

It's gonna end up being a $100 PS6 launch title, huh?

Well whatever, as long as it's good, that's my main concern. It's nice to see a dev actually putting in the time and effort to polish a game accordingly for once.
