IF they can do 60 FPS in the MP, then why not the SP?
Isn't the MP more intensive and draining on a systems power?
Sony are winning me over with their exclusives now.
Drive Club PSN+ Edition for free, upgrade to full version for cheap and also get 3 months PSN+ for free
Killzone Shadowfall more open and tactical single player, 60FPS Multiplayer, all future DLC free
Rime looks like my type of game
inFamous Second Son just keeps on looking better and better every time they show it.
Res0gun looks great plus it's free with PSN+
Planetside 2 looks like a blast and it's F2P
Yeah, he works at Sony now
They'll downgrade the graphics in MP

You know what? Makes sense. Go for eye candy and rocksolid 30s on SP, and 60fps on MP. Now tell me you're going to keep me hooked on multi longer than KZ2 and 3, please. I had so much fun with them, and yet they felt "dry" so soon after everything was unlocked.
I'm of the opinion that Planetside 2 is a ton of fun in a squad; the core gameplay is great.Planetside is not a fun game atm. It might be fun by this time next year....
I would take Warhawk 2.0 over PS2

Is there a playable demo on the show floor at Gamescom? If so, are there any videos?
60fps in multiplayer confiirmed then.
Nice.

What in the actual fuck o.oMan, and since they said that the weighty feel is back, what excuse will the "input lag" people will have?!
This is great news. Let the SP be a 'wow' factor for people who like it and let the MP be as fluid as possible.
This is one of the biggest wows I've ever done. Damn!
That article is mainly about input lag measuring, and giving props to the low latency of 60fps games. Killzone 2 actually has about an average amount of input lag for a 30fps game. The article even says that 100ms is the "potential" minimum for 30fps, while Killzone 2 sits at 150ms, GTAIV at 166ms, and Heavenly Sword at a dramatic 300ms. That's all the examples they give.Killzone 2's "weight" was a direct result of input lag, which a lower fps does contribute to.

Why not expect locked 60fps? They said that's what they're targeting, which means they aren't at that point yet, whichs means what we are seeing today isn't what they want by launch. And the fact they're getting in that ballpark in this Gamescom build means they could get to that locked 60fps by launch.
Is this correct? I wasn't paying as much attention as I should have, but from the GC MP trailer, the impression I got was that you would unlock some kind of points by completing different challenges, points you would spend to unlock stuff (as per usual). Maybe I dreamt that up, but it seems a fairly radical departure for a contemporary MP shooter to throw out the whole unlock/progression system..?well the MP has everything unlocked from the get go with MP based challenges you can complete + all MP DLC maps will be free for everyone

hmm maybe I misunderstood it then. Pretty sure all the guns are unlocked from the get go for MP tho.
Can someone clarify?
Right, thanks for clearing that up TimeEffect! Sounds like a good compromise - it's kinda silly, but if absolutely everything was unlocked from the start the game would probably have less legs for me.You unlock abilities and attachments for your guns but all guns are unlocked

I hope it becomes a trend honestly. I don't think it's realistic to aim for 60 FPS with everything, or maybe even the best choice for most games. I'll take a nicer looking game with more effects for campaigns, and then more responsiveness for competitive play.Single Player 30fps, Multiplayer 60fps . . .
Wise choice. This is also how I play Crysis 3.
Stuff like Goldeneye and Halo 2 didn't have unlockables and I put more time into those than I have in any modern day FPS. To me it's all about the actual gameplay. To each his own
off topic: It's a shame they couldn't hit 60fps for the single player.
on topic: MIND BLOWN.
Yeah, I remember those times as well, and I'm not saying the current way of doing things is objectively better (in fact it's probably objectively worse), but the unlock progression system is a psychologically powerful hook. If there was nothing like it in a big MP shooter like KZ the change would probably be a bit jarring to a lot of people now used to this way of doing things.Stuff like Goldeneye and Halo 2 didn't have unlockables and I put more time into those than I have in any modern day FPS. The MP screenshots they showed didnt look downgraded at all.
They looked better than some of the SP screenshots we've seen.
