Guess Atlus USA's next game reveal

mjemirzian was just banned on the Atlus forum so he needs a new place to vent, LOL.

Meanwhile, Atlus mod Kakizaki is telling us that fans of Gungnir and/or Growlanser should be happy that they are at least trolling with these two games:

"Anyway, calm down and enjoy the ride. At least a game that you are excited for is being hinted at. Think of all of the other people who aren't even getting a whiff at games they desperately want to see and be glad for this. Sometimes anticipation is the best part."

So it doesn't matter that the games may not come out - at least Atlus gave you a sliver of hope before dashing it away forever!
Sounds like another shitty Atlus mod. What an ass.

Yeah, because if they would have played a game like this with Valkyria Chronicles 3, it would have been personal :|

But really, this kind of thing is to be expected of Atlus... they've really changed. I remember when I first visited their board when SRW OG1 and 2 were coming, like a night and day difference from what they are today.

It's why I honestly can't believe it's both games, I think they know they're stringing someone along, and they like it. And the sad thing is, there's going to be apologists on the board who say the equivalent of "deal with it nerd".

Indeed, the more I read their forums the more it's clear that they don't really particularly care much about their fans - in fact, to them fans are almost a nuisance that should be somehow "educated" about the "market". It's why I find it hard to believe that suddenly they're going to be so generous as to announce TWO niche PSP games at the same time. It's almost like they're enjoy the sadism of leading their fans on, and they don't care if half of them are crushed when the news comes out.

That said, I'd love to be proven wrong.

It's okay, if it's not both games we can have a good ol' fashion angry mob and hunt down NichM and AtlusAram. *readies the pitchforks and nooses* I don't care for the Growlanser series, but seeing them doing this to the fanbase is decreasing my respect for them. However, NichM made it sound like their representatives on the forums should not be taken as a representative of Atlus USA as a whole.

It's already been said, but that person is a volunteer mod on the Atlus forums and wouldn't even know which game is being revealed.

That isn't the issue here. The issue here is the attitude. Plus he's not even as bad as the site admins - who are infinitely more arrogant.

How does the attitude of a volunteer mod have anything to do with Atlus? Yeah, that one topic where the mods were discussing localization habits with the fans was a bit tense, but there was no blatant disrespect. This person has no affiliation with the company, so it's not like he was told to say something like that just to grind everyone's gears.

Then Atlus should get better mods. In such a crucial position of interaction between the company and its consumers, it's important to have someone who knows how to talk without sounding demeaning or uncaring.

It's up to Atlus USA to make sure who they have as moderators - volunteer or otherwise act a certain way. It doesn't matter if they're paid, or if they're not, at the end of the day they still are representing Atlus as a whole, and they're not doing that company any favours right now.

That Atlus "volunteer mod" decided that "mjemirzian is a broken record. Any excuse to rant about the evils of TO fans will illicit a post. TO must have killed his dog, etc." was not trolling, while making up imaginary rants that don't exist.

25 is pretty bad, yeah. Maybe they need stricter guidelines concerning how their mods interact with the other posters, but I would imagine that for every singular post like that, there are probably a bunch of helpful/friendly ones from those same people.

I think a lot of us are more willing to judge their faults unfavourably right now because of all the stigma concerning their recent localization decisions. When Atlus USA announces a few more niche Japanese games in next few months and into 2012, I'm hoping that everybody jumps back on the bandwagon and we can at least stay on topic for more than a few pages without finding reasons to scrutinize their every move. They gave us so many games over the last few years so I find it a bit unfair that everybody is bashing them due to a relatively weak 2011, especially with the niche DS/PSP market being virtually non-existent right now.

Maybe I'm just less sympathetic on things like that, but that seemed more to me a matter of HOW it was said than what was said. If you're serious about fighters it's probably good to at least have an officially licensed joystick/controller around so when it turns out the preferred unlicensed one doesn't work you have one fallback at least.

Does kind of show why companies usually force proprietary accessories though. :/

That's exactly the problem. They can't talk to consumers like that.

Arrogance and internet forums. That's like a nerd going to a frat party and being an ass over Magic the Gathering. It's really funny, and at the same time, extremely sad.

The difference between Atlus and X-SEED is that the former company has a piss-poor excuse for customer service while the latter really does go out of their way to explain things and be courteous about it. It does make a big difference on how you see a company professionally.

We have volunteers at the hospital/nursing home, if they acted like the way these mods do, they would be escorted out and banned from every major regional center.

But whatever, its all good. I'm still thinking its some kind of PSP niche title.

In a more perfect world, those mods and petulant niche JRPG "fans" would be forced to be on a seperate part of the internet away from the rest of us.

Apt wording.

ad hominem (and by the way, he was being sarcastic, but you obviously didn't get the joke). "MJ just hates that game, so I can ignore anything he said about it!" "Let's force those petulant niche JRPG "fans" into an internet ghetto!". Seriously? You should apply to be an Atlus forum mod.

I find it funny that you're pointing out that somebody missed a joke while simultaneously getting offended at other people's ribbing.

The way they handeled the Trails 2 stuff was so much more professional and respectful than what Atlus USA would have done. I kinda feel bad about the Trails 2 thread where everyone was kinda confronting wydward now and he remained courteous and respectful.

This whole ordeal with Atlus USA recently has made me appreciate XSEED so much more. Where as Atlus's response to a lot of common concerns/issues, going by their forums, seems to be "fuck you".

Who's "ribbing" did I get "offended" at? I didn't even reply to johnsmith's post. I'm not really sure what you're talking about.

You rated TO a 4/10 I'm curious what SRPGs do you like?
I have a (somewhat poorly maintained, I admit) list of recommended SRPGs and turn based tactics games here. So that should be a good start. (edit: someone already beat me to linking to it) You can clearly see my gaming tastes and preferences here. That should satisfy your curiosity and then some.

Yep, I completely agree. I remember that thread and I thought he handled himself very well and explained things to the best of his ability. I can appreciate, and respect that.

Apparently in Persona 2: IS they removed the ability to create scenarios in the NA version with no notification. Their response to inquiries on the forum was basically "well, Atlus never said it was included up till this point, so that was an assumption on your part."

I like the games, not so much the people who are interacting with the fanbase. :T

Atlus has impressively poor control over what their representatives say about them on forums. You'd think they'd have the sense to tell some of their mods & testers to not say anything if they don't know what "tact" means.

On the bright side, I got their fifth clue right. I think the more fun game now will be guessing the clues to come.

Clue #6 will be it's a title Atlus JP released!

I can just see the reveal now: "Yes, the game we were thinking of is Growlanser IV. Unfortunately, we have no plans to localize it. Please enjoy 102-in-1 Megamix, coming soon."

No, just one more.

Depends on how they do the reveal. They have room for 6 "previous" clues and then the 1 clue up front for a total of 7. If the reveal just goes up in the center then they just have the 6 "previous" clues. I hope for the latter just so this ends sooner.

Troll successful!

The sad part is, I'll probably be happy with either title they reveal and will pre-order whatever CE/LE the moment I can :|

Jesus. They're just having some fun with the fact that two games people want localised share a lot of common traits whilst also trailing an announcement of a new localisation.

Does everything need to be taken so seriously?

Hi! I'm Volcynika and I'd like to welcome you to GAF.

Need to localize some of those new Super Robot wars games that dont have license issues.
Which ones would those be?

Edit:

Because I can only think of two. The 2nd DS SRW OG game. And that's not going to happen because it's a DS game and carts are expensive.

The other is Masou Kishin 1/2 on PSP. And that probably won't come out because it's a psp game and it's not like those are doing all that great. And this one would be even more niche than the rest.
