Guy Fieri is sick of Bourdain's shit

We had a thread here on Gaf about it. Apparently everyone forgot and on page three, nobody is clicking links. /shrug.

People can think Fieri is a nice guy if they want to but the reality is he's way more likely to be as much of an asshole as Bourdain or moreso.

Edit: Page 4 now.
He recently participated in a 100 couple same sex wedding, so even if he used to be homophobic, we should be happy that he changed and no longer has those beliefs.

People still try to see Bourdain as some poor starving artist, when in truth he has as much money as Guy, if not even more.

Bourdain hates his own celebrity, and lashes out at those who are comfortable in theirs, like Guy and Rachel Ray, instead of looking in the mirror.

p.s. - people who thing mainstream cats like Guy and Emeril can't cook are hilarious. Do some research.

p.s.s. - I'm a classically trained chef

No one sees him as starving. He talks about being a sellout all the time. Some people do however see him as an artist, something no one would ever accuse Guy Fieri of.

It wasn't just homophobia but sexist remarks during the filming of his show as well. Maybe he's changed, maybe he hasn't... but people in the thread are literally asking, "What do people have against this guy?" as if he's never done or said anything questionable. He has. Some people remember it. Others never knew or forgot.

I like "Triple D" (although that's another example of Guy's douchiness). I enjoy seeing inside a restaurant kitchen and adapting some of the food for my own family meals (I'm a good cook, my dad is a great cook, and my brother is a professional chef at a 3-star Michelin restaurant). But Fieri is an awful food host. As Stinkles once famously said and I unashamedly steal when the subject arises, Guy Fieri couldn't describe a bowl of oatmeal. Everything has "got the heat, and the crunch, and the creamy, and the texture." I learn more about the taste of an insect's asshole from Andrew Zimmern than I learn about a hamburger from Guy Fieri.

There's a place about 15 minutes away from me that was featured on his show.

I've only eaten there once (not knowing this until well after) but apparently from the google reviews, a lot of people say that the restaurant is now trash because the owner now gets so much business from having been featured on the show that he doesn't give a fuck anymore and the food quality has tanked hard.

What place is it?

Both have entertained me.

But one of them is intelligent, worldly, and has put some genuine artistry and heart into his shows.

And the other is a bro who's only art is his fucking hair.

So yeah, Bourdain wins forever.
Yeah such artistry in The Taste. Seriously, watch an episode of that shit show.

Hating Bourdain for cashing in with The Taste is a bit like throwing out Stephen Spielberg's filmography because he produced Transformers.

He's made hundreds of episodes of carefully written, journalistically credible, cinematically gorgeous television.

Anthony bourdain is my dude but he does come off as a pretentious ass sometimes. I remember he was a guest on Andrew zimmerman's show one time when they were both on travel channel and he seemed resentful. As if he didn't want to be seen in public with Zimmerman. They both share similar narratives and started their tv careers eating bizarre and unusual things on their respective shows.. So yea, it wasn't a good look for him

I don't know much about Fieri or Bourdain aside from the random episodes I've seen here and there but I have to say Bourdain comes off as a snob and I'm not sure I would like him if I met him in person.

Guy Fieri on the other hand is almost like your dad, making dad jokes trying to act like a goofball and even if you know he's trying too hard, you can't help but root for the guy especially if he's being bullied. That ain't fair.

Oh, but I will give Fieri props for this: Dude can eat. He doesn't just take a polite little bite, he goes elbow-deep and devours his meal. That, even knowing he's probably got a couple more dishes to sample for the segment.

Unless it has an egg in it, then he's a prissy little miss. An egg.

He trashes people for doing exactly what he did. I have no problem with him being an opportunist, but I have an issue with him being a hypocrite.

We can sit here and make fun of how he goes through life like he's on the set of a blink 182 video, but he's rich as fuck and wildly successful in his niche. Definitely more successful than Bourdain.

If you hear Bourdain talk about Guy, it's as much that he feels sorry for the guy now.. the dude's 47 years old and still doing his Hardy+Juggalo thing.

CNN offered him more money and a chance to go places he couldn't go to before.

Because the guy that eats at little huts in remote jungles is above eating at Waffle House.

CNN actually offered him complete freedom to do whatever the fuck he wanted. CNN can't force him to change anything. It's really one of the biggest perks, and it's his best show.. he's also 59, married and has a child.

Bourdain will be the first to admit he's living a dream.. he's got the best job in the world just about.. he's got awesome friends.. dude get's to kick it guy's like Eric Ripert.

BTW, if any one is looking for great food shows to watch, and you've watched all the Mind of Chef's.. check out After Hours with Daniel Boulud.... really a great show.

That article is also 4 years old.

I am on team Fieri. He travels around making local talent look good. He sells hard for a lot of small businesses. DDD isn't about Fieri at all: hes just there to spotlight good places and what they do.

Stop hating.

No, my point is that trotting that around is disingenuous because his stance has changed since then.

It was never "his stance" to begin with. It's not like he came out announcing it. That's just how he acted on set and the request he made of the crew and producers.

As I said earlier, maybe he's changed and maybe he hasn't. But people have asked what others may have against him and those actions of his are relevant to that.

Whenever Guy Fieri is on my screen, I wish it was Alton Brown or Antonia Lofaso or Alex Guarnaschelli instead.

Or I just start watching America's Test Kitchen on PBS and wash my hands of it altogether.

I love greasy diner food, but Fieri's on-screen persona is irritating and his actual restaurants are sub-Applebee's, so, yeah, I take Bourdain's side because Bourdain actually seems to love the food he shills instead of loving to shill the food he happens to be eating like Guy does. Or at least that's how it comes off; I don't know the man in real life.

Both of these guys are far, far below Gordon Ramsay. Both in the kitchen and on the screen.
True. I don't know why he's always made out to be a raging asshole on his American shows, he's a lot more level-headed in his British ones. He'll definitely yell occasionally but it usually feels warranted, and he never goes out of his way to insult people. Can't remember what it's called but the one where he helps out failing restaurants is great.

Classic GAF "tolerance".

Y'all are some hypocrite mothers.

Guy, by all accounts, is a stand up dude.

People are biased. We're not robots.

Most just like Bourdain more and are willing to forgive his faults, or even find it charming lol.

I don't think anyone is wishing harm on Guy.

Except this one

After Fieri's PR team released the statement, City Pages reached out to former "DDD" field producer Kari Kloster, who's also quoted in the paper's original piece. Kloster is now a vice president at Page's production company and she backs up what her boss said about Fieri's homophobic behavior.

"From my memory of being a field producer it's just well-known to me among the crew that Guy has a problem -- if there was a homosexual in a restaurant, as the main character, the shoot went different," Kloster said in a statement.

Then again, the guy who lobbed these accusations was fired by The Food Network at Fieri's request.

The hilarious part is people defending noted asshole Anthony Bourdain against known decent guy Fieri because of the way Fieri dresses on TV.
Yeah, that's fucking right I do. Who gives a shit if Bourdain is an asshole? I'm not screening which one is going to date my sister, I'm screening them for having to look at them and listen to them talk and watch them exist for an hour. If I want to hire a designated driver to go see a fucking Mudvayne show, I'll give Guy Fieri a call. Until then he can fuck off.

My critique is strictly on their TV personas, not their personal lives.

My favorite band is Radiohead but I think Thom Yorke is way up his own ass.
Well TV Guy is nice humble human being, while Bourdain's TV persona is a pompous asshole.

You telling me you're going with Bourdain based on his TV personality.

Yeah check out this monster. But nah let's just take this ex producer with an axe grind's solo account at face value.

It's not a solo account.

Here is the source article. More than just that producer comment on Fieri. The article also pulls no punches on the Ex-Producer's reputation.

Here is the follow up article that was written after both the Ex-Producer and Fieri's PR asked for corrections.

Neither of the parties of that feud came out smelling like roses, so it's not a loaded one-sided account.

Bourdain always came off as a jerk

He seems like the kind of guy who would treat a fan like a piece of shit, too. Like if you won a dinner with him or whatever and you said something wrong, I bet he would be an asshole all night.

For all I know he's a dream to hang out with and gracious in those situations, but that's just the feeling I get from watching the guy.
