Guy Fieri is sick of Bourdain's shit

You seem to have an ongoing problem understanding people have different values.

And a perfect understanding of the fact that quite often people who irrationally dislike someone will come up with equally irrational reasons for doing so. That list for example.

I like what Bourdain does, but he is being a dick (as per usual) and Guy has a right to exist and prosper. The market has spoken!!!

I don't get all the Fieri hate lol. Is he as interesting as Bourdain and his show? Obviously not, he's a goof, but whatever. Plenty of worse people on TV.

wait people are defending guy fieri as a "nice guy"? lol
isn't it pretty much confirmed the dude is a total creep to women on his show and makes homophobic jokes etc?

The homophobia has pretty much been debunked...his late sister was gay and he recently officiated 101 gay marriages in tribute.

I think it's possible to rationally dislike someone though. I brought up the list earlier as a joke and a summary of all the outrageous things written about him over the years, not to try and paint him as a homophobe or anything like that.

I dislike Fieri because he's a great representation of the disparity of the mass-produced, culinary industry that's been relegated to the frozen food section and think he's simultaneously shallow and calculated at the same time. Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives made for an interesting show because of the way it showcased the American restaurant culture but I don't think that has anything to do with Fieri himself as he's only the host. He's a consumer of American culture (or representation of consumerism) to an extreme degree of excess and not much of a contributor in my opinion.

I'm not looking down at what he stands for or saying Bourdain is better because he focuses more on exotic or "higher class joints." I'm more put off by how little thought Fieri seems to put into what he puts out there.

Well, I mean what better way to make sure that you don't look like you are uncomfortable around gay people than to host a huge public presentation about how cool you are with them?

Oh come on.

Someone with a possible axe to grind making an allegation versus something we know the man actually did. But no, let's just go with the hearsay. Let's ignore the fact his sister is a lesbian as well. I mean, really, come the fuck on.

I like them both. They love food, culture, and have fun with food in different ways.

Anthony's John to Guy's Paul.

Guy Ferrari's an opportunistic douche and Bourdain is a kingmaker who has had a massive hand in developing American food culture into what it is today.

Yeah Bourdain is on tv out of the kindness of his own heart. He's one of the truly good ones.

I love biting Conan. It was more on display during the Late Night days of the show but it still pops up occasionally, as evidenced by the above.

I don't mind either of them, although Fieri certainly seems to enjoy all the ridiculous stuff he does where Bourdain is dour as fuck all the time.

Did you guys know that Guy Fieri once had another job? Absolutely insane

What exactly did Fieri do that people don't like? (outside of his appearance, which is not grounds for attacking someone IMO but I'm getting from this topic that he did something else)

Anthony Bourdain had the great honor of being on one of the absolute worst food shows ever shown on TV - The Taste. What makes it worse is he was the executive producer and should have known better.

This right here and the first and only person to mention it.

He might have a great show on CNN and when he was on the Travel Channel, but The Taste is a giant piece of shit that can't be defended and was waaay worse than anything Guy has ever done.

Worked hard in the food industry his entire life, won a Food Network contest, became famous, bought a nice car, got a vanity license plate. An American monster.

What, when, where, and how?

Bourdain and his production company had a hand in launching Lucky Peach, popularizing Food Republic and producing Mind of a Chef. He put a spotlight on David Chang and helped turn the Momofuku empire into what it is today. He's the reason people that are into food but have never set foot inside a Michelin-starred restaurant have heard of Noma. His endorsement on the back of a cookbook "legitimizes" it. Hell, he's probably the reason White Heat saw a big, fancy rerelease last year.

Though I like Bourdain I agree that he's a bit of a bitch, but to pretend he's not hugely important is ignorant at best.

Still laughing at the kingmaker line. Apparently his name doesn't carry enough weight to launch a successful cooking show on a major network.

I am not saying that is what happened, it is just what I would have a client do if I was in PR.

Bourdain doesn't do cooking shows.

Besides, we're talking about an audience that loves stuff like Big Bang Theory. Having a popular show is not a barometer of influence.

Of course he does. He starred in and exec produced the huge bomb that was The Taste. He also has been on Top Chef numerous times.

I like both of them, for different reasons. I can see why Bourdain has an issue with the reality TV stuff. It's not like Fieri's personality isn't super grating. It is. It's not for everybody. And he endorses a ton of crap, which Bourdain goes after all the time, regardless of the chef.

Fieri should probably be more self aware and not take it so seriously.

In other words: "Say that shit to my face and not on TV!"

I prefer Bourdain though, he's the perfect kind of asshole. Guy is just another overweight dude eating BBQ burgers on the Travel channel.

eh, throughout the decade Bourdain has shit talked numerous Food Network personalities including Rachel Ray and Emeril.

No wonder he's been training for MMA the past few years. Dude needs to watch his back...

I don't think he has an issue with reality tv. He saw the popularity of The Voice and tried to apply the same formula to a food show. And people call Guy opportunistic.

He also travels the world to "learn more about food, and culture". But the truth is the chicken shit has been dodging fights for years.

I think his wife started training before they even met. Now they're both training under the fucking Gracie family. He'd wipe the kitchen floors with Fieri.

He personally invited Guy Fieri to be a part of his roast in NYC a few years back. I don't think he's afraid of Fieri, he just has no respect for his work.

Bourdains a dick but hes also right... Im kind of surprised that Guy doesnt take it better since hes a public figure and should be used to stuff like this.
