And Gordon couldn't shine Bobby Flay's shoes. Both of these guys are far, far below Gordon Ramsay. Both in the kitchen and on the screen.
Mesa Grill in Vegas is the best food I've ever had.

When most stations change their programming it's usually not that great but I love the focus on seeing how other people/regions make food rather than watch somebody in a fake house make some food that I have no interest in trying. Guy Fieri is annoying as fuck and I'd never eat anything from his restaurants but Drivers, Dive-ins, and Dives was a great show. Some background, Bourdain used to work with Food Network, with his show The Cook's Tour.
He used to be on it when it was full of chefs--Emeril, Batali, etc.
After a while, The Food Network shifted to more home cooking due to the popularity of Rachel Ray, Paula Deen, and Giada--all home cooks.
Later, the Food Network shifted entirely to more of these diner touring shows and now it's just that and the competition shows.
If you actually want decent cooking instruction, they have The Cooking Channel for that.
Bourdain misses the original vision. He's written about it.
It really is.This is spot-fucking-on.
I've got nothing against Guy Fieri, but I don't understand why people find him stuffing his face with pulled pork sandwiches entertaining.

Watching other people eat, no matter what it is they're eating, enjoys a long and venerated history on TV. Why do you think Fear Factor took off?
Guy Fieri gets way too much shit considering the only reason people hate him is because of his persona.

And his piss poor way of describing what he eats.
"You can taste the crunch from the onion, the creaminess of the mayo, and then you get the kick of the mustard."
Homer the food critique had a better way with words.
Shhhh, don't poke the Foodie beehive. It's just best to leave them alone to their own thoughts of fine dining and smuggness.
Worked hard in the food industry his entire life, won a Food Network contest, became famous, bought a nice car, got a vanity license plate. An American monster.
And his piss poor way of describing what he eats.

What exactly did Fieri do that people don't like? (outside of his appearance, which is not grounds for attacking someone IMO but I'm getting from this topic that he did something else)
I've been staring at this for 5 minutes and it gets funnier the longer it goes on.

Count the number of times Bourdain says something is good.
About food? Unless it is Opposite Day, all he says is good things about food that he eats on the show.
Who the hell actually likes this Fieri clown?
And I would say Fieri should expect to take shit for it because he's a mainstream celebrity and that's how it goes. But I don't think he's wrong for telling Bourdain to go pound sand.Bourdain is probably most famous for suggesting people try garbage organ meat from street cart vendors in far-flung countries. He's not championing Michellin stars against homemade recipes, he's championing quality, well crafted food against McWorld.
The criticism of Fieri in specific is less about his show (which often showcases good home-style venues) and more about his Hard Rock Cafe branding tier, food products, and restaurant.
Now that guy deserves the hate he gets.I much prefer Man vs Food when it comes to shows about watching people eat.
Don't really watch food TV, but this review of Guy Fieri's American Kitchen & Bar made me laugh so hard I cried.

So enjoy.

Poor Anne Burrel.
I don't like Guy Fieri's show, all he does is go to restaurants and look at how they make food. There's barely any character development, action, or romance, what's the point of his show?

Yeah, he sounds great.I'll defend Guy.
At ten, he and his dad built a cart to sell pretzels. 6 years of that and washing dishes to save up enough to study cooking as an exchange student in France. He then went on to get a degree in hotel management from UNLV. Like Bourdain, he's been in this industry his entire life.
Recently, to honor his late (gay) sister, he organized and officiated 101 gay marriages in Miami.
Maybe you don't like his taste, but dude is legit.

Can't have a Guy Ferry thread without dubs from his show:
