Hackers Who Shut Down PSN and Xbox Live Now Attacking Tor

Again I think they're taking their biggest risk by attacking TOR here. Very dangerous.

Those guys were just insane, their motivations were clear. I'm sure it's happened, but it's not something I've ever seen any significant proof of, and really it's not something you just stumble upon on the deep web.

edit-

I personally don't think that's accurate. I've never seen anything government related, and illegal porn is posted all the time on sites like 4chan or others, or at least has been.

Oh well. *shrugs*

Maybe I should edit it out. Don't like spreading mis-information. Lol apart of this thread is people defining what hackers are. Would be dumb to have a false definition of deep web being pushed too. I only posted it since I've heard the whole "glacier" under water diver analogy like over and over, and have seen those kind of pics used to explain it hah.

It's definitely an interesting thing to check out, it's really not hard to access, there is some awful stuff, but there is also some really unique stuff. Like I said before though MOST of what you see on pictures like that are inaccurately tiered off, and most of what's written and talked about are ghost stories. That being said, what most know as "deep web" could just be scraping the surface of what's actually out there, since really it's all unlisted. Hackers and coders are the ones who create this stuff though, so to say something like illegal porn or snuff is deeper than hackers makes no sense. All speculation from me.

I thought it came out of the Snowden leaks that Tor was already compromised by the NSA.

If anything it showed their frustration at Tor, even the documents were called "Tor stinks".

"We will never be able to de-anonymize all Tor users all the time." It continues: "With manual analysis we can de-anonymize a very small fraction of Tor users," and says the agency has had "no success de-anonymizing a user in response" to a specific request.

If it was really compromised, there wouldn't be the kind of stuff up there still.

i love how everyone is saying they're not hackers.

if they were "script kiddies" they'd be caught by now.

DDOS may be script kiddie shit but they're doing more than DDOS if they haven't been caught yet.

To be fair they have only attacked PSN/XBL they havent gone after any government sites or information. The government doesn't really care what they are doing, they are not a priority at all, I have faith that if they were to push the wrong buttons and get themselves elevated, they would be caught.

So long story short, they are smarter than you think staying out of the governments sight.

These damn hackers won't be happy until the US and other nations starts enacting laws that ruin the internet for all of us.

This shit needs to stop.

People confused by this:

Have you played any Mega Man Battle Network? Tor is basically the undernet. Full of illegal activity, but also full of very smart and talented individuals you do not want to fuck with.

They are so stupid.

Some people at my university use TOR, most IT Guys from the IT Center of my institute always tell the students to use TOR for security reasons.
So not only pedophiles use TOR.

Hacking banks and government sites at least will get you jailtime. You're alive and might still have a 2nd chance.

Going for TOR will get people who will legitimately try to kill not just the hacker but maybe the entire family for messing with their business.

It's literally the pandora's box. Don't try something that can fight back. A gaming service is literally a drop in the bucket of a target compared to TOR. Hell a government site is probably a better target than TOR.

I really wanna see someone put their foot in these dudes asses.

Well if some of the more sinister groups in TOR get mad, they might end up with a foot in their ass literally. And it'll probably be a huge steeltoe boot covering said foot going into their ass.

Prob not entirely accurate. But I've seen that analogy and these kind of images used before.

I can appreciate what this image is trying to do, but I'm pretty sure members have been banned for using images using derogatory slurrs against homosexuals even as casual lingo. I'd recommend canning that image.

isn't the deep web where they have that weird version of craigslist where you can buy guns and hitmen and the hitmen have reviews and stuff

They're criminals more than anything else. Debating a more appropriate name for them is pointless.

Craigslist in concept but it's not presented in the same way. Most of the illegal pornography, hitmen and drug/weapon trafficking are done through private message boards.

I think the hackers are gonna wish they didn't nake enemies on Tor. Isn't Tor where the underworld gangs, hitmen and very sketchy people do business too?? Heard they can easily find you, if you piss them off. Last year, an anonymous hacker was kidnapped in Mexico, after threatening aomebody on Tor, so I've heard. The Deep Web is more than just pedo's, hentai and purchasing illegal firearms.

I use tor almost every single time I go to the library, they block a lot of harmless shit there and it's really annoying.

As i just said in the other thread i DL'd TOR back in the hip Conspiracy days, but fucking hell, im glad i deleted that shit after my first try, after reading the the different levels although the all the IT focused stuff looks cool.

hmmmm i really want to see what will happen if i access that level 5.......

"Dont push the Red button"

What is the deep web?

The deep web is anything and everything that can't be publicly indexed by search engines.

For example would you want your bank account indexed by Google? How about your employee account?

Then there are less ethical reasons websites don't want their pages indexed such as assassins for hire and anarchist forums.

The most ridiculous image I've seen in a long time.

Most of the 'deep web' is very boring. It's literally just anything not indexed by search engines. It's not some treacherous neighborhood where hackers are waiting to pounce, it's mostly random documents and broken links.

That said, there are a few nasty areas because well, you're almost completely anonymous when using Tor. Almost. So yes, you can find illegal activity pretty easily, but it's also for leaked documents, working around censorship, etc.

Yeah, and torrents aren't about illict activities...

Is TOR's primary use not criminal?

thought it was picked up by the state department so people could communicate in...less than save environments over the internet anonymously. Maybe the Navy was the one that started it.
