Had a few beers, then a game idea.

Interesting. If Little Inferno exists, a game where you litterally just burn stuff (and IMO it's a good game for what it does), this has great chances as well. Though in weird little games like these what's important is the sense of "escalation": by the end of the game you should build space rockets or something along those lines. See the aforementioned Little Inferno (where you burn the sun), Katamari Damacy (where you roll entire states), ecc.

Yes, I'm taking you seriously.

Make sure the in-game economy works well, because the second somebody has more than $50 in their wallet, they're probably not going to shop at IKEA.

Aside from the sexist parts I like it. Although I would change the modes into:

  • Time attack: assemble as many parts as you can within the given time.
  • Puzzle: assemble the parts without a manual.
  • Decorate: choose the parts that match the given room and be scored on the overall appearance.
  • Jenga: take turns disassembling the parts, if it falls apart you lose.
All these modes would work in both single player and multiplayer.

Give the game a better name (SETHÖS?) and a Mirror's Edge like art style and you got a winner.

This only has a shot of being fun if it uses motion controls.

edit: Also, the physics and overall engine will not be trivial, unless you just do a "chose the correct order of assembly" gameplay mechanic, but that also sounds dull.

It is promising, I might steal your idea and I'll give you a note at the end of the credits.

As long as it gets a Special Limited Edition that comes with a plate of swedish meatballs I'll be buying this.

If it were like Surgeon Simulator I'd play it. Could let loose my drunk building and interior decorating skills on an entire room!

I don't know man. It's like, if you just told me what Tetris was if probably say its a bad idea but show me Tetris and I'd get it.

I'm on board. I like the effort that went into this too, it's on par with a decent kickstarter page.

Form a partnership with Ikea. Every furniture piece comes with a DLC code so you can learn to assemble it virtually before commiting to the heavy lifting.

???

Profit.

If it were indie I'd be all for it. You could come out with seasonal catalogs of new furniture to Put together.

Bonus mini game could be to take them apart in the right order.

Nice.

Shitty Surgery Simulator style controls and deduce points in Nag-attack if you aren't careful with tools and scratch them/smash them around/fasten too tight.

If it was really a game about ikea it would be nothing but a zip file with a copy of unity and some unreadable instructions in it.

Anyway, if you need some help with sick achievement ideas, i'm your man:

"Probably didnt need that anyway" - Finished a Cabinet with a spare screw.
