Halo 3 Map Pack coming December 11

cant wait for the Ammunition Comsumables to kick in.

You guys must know Bungie held back Blood Gulge(sp?) on purpose so they can rape later as well.
As nice as a gulch remake would be, I think i've played that map to death now.

Man cannons could change my mind...

Yeah... ten bucks really isn't that outlandish for three maps.

I ask myself this often.
Man cannons are incredibly awesome ever since I plasma stickied a Banshee mid-air on Valhalla. They're way way better than boring teleporters.

So what happens when these come out, will they be immediately put into the playlists? What happens to people who want to play in one of those playlists, but don't want to pay $10 for the maps? If they put any of them into TS, it's basically making them required for online play

They've been dealing with this since early Halo 2. They'll probably have a "Team Preview" playlist for a few months, and then when the maps go free, they'll incorporate them into all of Matchmaking.

Loving the shots of these new maps. Fucking hating the price. This is most likely NOT going to be a purchase for me at 800MSP, and as anyone who knows me can attest that's pretty harsh coming from this Bungie fan boy.

Foundry is the ultimate Forge map – players can edit every single object in this voluminous industrial warehouse, place stairways, walls, bridges and tunnels to create an entirely new play space and build almost any kind of map they can think of.
Foundry sounds like my kind of thing.

I bet the B.net update will have a ton of pics.

Too much money for only three maps imo. Lots of games these days seem to be way overpricing their multiplayer map packs.

Atleast they're doing the right thing and making these free at some point, which is something that EVERY online game should do with downloadable content. Some other developers should be taking note.

Important detail from the PR:

All three maps will become available for free download via Xbox Live Marketplace in Spring 2008, just prior to the next wave of all new "Halo 3" multiplayer maps.

I don't really mind the price but considering I don't even touch Halo 3 now that CoD4 is out, I'll wait until Spring and get both map packs for the price of one. I suspect many other people will make the same decision, with so many other big 360 games coming out.

I'm glad that even now they've left, they're reducing them to free later down the line. I'll likely pick them up then.

I'm surprised they don't drop them to 400 at some point before then though, have them reduce over time as opposed to be pay now or don't later.

There's Microsoft for you - money > consumer good will (the 360 warranty not being an exception because not addressing that problem would have made people think twice about buying one if it'd gone on any longer).

But the new maps look pretty cool. Not a big fan of the indoor one though.

800pts?

This is worse than the GRAW fiasco.

Now I definitley won't be playing H3 online.
Not really, since Ubisoft basically recycled DLC maps from Ghost Recon 2 and asked even more money for them than before.

Not that I'm justifying the price tag of the Halo 3's map pack, mind you, but at least these are new.

Standoff looks absolutely beautiful. As for the price...I'm really not sure. Not going to say I won't buy them, but it certainly is pretty steep for three maps. We'll see. Depends on how well they're marketed to me.

I just hope everyone (or at least the vast majority) does the right thing and holds off until Spring. Maybe next time MS will consider a lower introductory price.

Don't know if I'll get these after they're released or wait till Spring to get them.

I love this idea.

So this will put the map count at 14....Still 2 less then what COD 4 SHIPPED with.
Well COD4 maps are basically locations lifted straight from the campaign, and even then some maps are so similar to each other.

I've extremely disappointed. Halo 3 shipped with 11 maps (less than Halo 2) and one of those was a direct remake of a Halo 2 map. Three of those were on the beta and had already been played extensively by around 800k people and another was a spiritual remake. (Guardian)

I don't think it's fair to charge 800 points for three maps anyway but let alone after that. It should have been 2 free/sponsored maps and 500pts for two extra like last time.

I batted for Bungie/MS against the cynics when the whole DLC thing snowballed but I feel a bit let down with that pricing.

undecided whether I'll purchase or not.

So? I'd be happy if some Halo 3 maps were basically locations lifted straight from the campaign if that meant more Halo 3 maps.

Why couldn't they do that with H3? Some of the set pieces would make great maps, and it seemed to work out pretty well for H1 PC

Is a bit pricey, but you can choose to hold out and not purchase em day one.

New maps were needed BAD for halo3, hopefully one or two of em will show up in BTB. Sick of the same 3 darn maps.

I'd be down for four maps at 800 points, but with only three maps it feels like they are trying to take us for all they can. Next spring it's going to be 800 points for two maps.

I don't like how all DLC is going in the direction of slowly increasing pricing while decreasing content, like they think we won't notice.

One location is, sort of (Construct). And for the rest, I suppose they could. But they chose not to. Why does it matter either way? Anyway, I much rather prefer entirely new locations specifically deisgned for multiplayer, and not retooled from what was a campaign map.

This reminds me. I still need to buy Horse Armor for Oblivion.
Because that's definitely similiar to this.

400/600 pts would be a better return for them probably. Like people have been saying at 800 pts it's very easy to say I'll wait till spring 08 and enjoy my arcade game in the meanwhile.

If anything, the pricing is going to split the Halo matchmaking into half... those without the pack will get shutout of games with people on their friends list that did pick up the pack...

A cheaper pack would have made it easy for everyone to pick it up now and not wait until next April/May for them to be free...

It matters because I want more maps, and I think most people agree that halo 3 needs them. I would also prefer locations designed for multiplayer, but don't you think it would be easier to copy and paste part of a single player level into a MP one? Just to pad out the list, and keep everything from getting old as fast.

Single player areas may not be well suited for objective stuff, outside of 1 flag ctf, and attack/defend gametypes, because of they were designed to be part of a 1 way path, but for team deathmatch, all they need to be is interesting.

Edit: Imagine a 1 flag CTF map based on the area in The Covenant where you use hornets to attack those platforms jutting out of the cliffs. I would shit my pants for that

I'll prolly get it as soon as possible as well, even though it is a huge ripoff. I never even played Halo 2 multiplayer but I can't get enough of 3, plus I'm mainly a PC gamer nowadays.
