Halo 5 Theme Music

117 was good but Arrival is where it's at for me. Gives me goosebumps every time.
I really don't have much issue with Neil's pieces from the OST- the problem was how it was all mixed into the game itself. I think the soundtrack overall would've been received a lot better had it not been so haphazardly mixed.

And oh yeah- "Arrival" is fantastic.

I'm not much of an audio guy, I'm assuming you mean the music/sound affect levels? Because I definitely agree, I could barely hear the music in quite a few sections of the game, really angered me. No audio options amplified my distaste even more.

Did they play with the mixing a bit in the MCC though? Could swear I could hear the music more now.

About 90% of Halo 4's OST was Neil Davidge. Kazuma wrote a number of pieces, but only "117" was on Vol 1 of the OST. I think the rest of his compositions were on Vol 2.

Yeah I'm aware of that. Just emphasizing how important it is that Kazuma is an in-house member of 343 and not an external composer.

Halo 4's OST has its moments. Requiem ,for example, gave off this very alien feel especially considering it plays on the new planet you land on.

And that gat damn title theme man.

I agree, it was a pretty good soundtrack... it just wasn't Halo without that main theme for me. They cannot stray away from that without making the series lose something. I'm too attached to it, I guess.

I freaking love that they went back to it and added to it. It's amazing.

The audio levels were pretty poor- the gunplay sounds great, but it drowned out the music for far too many sections of the campaign. And there weren't any volume toggles either, so even if you wanted to fix it yourself, you couldn't.

Also, the way it was mixed in was strange at times. Some of the tracks were sliced and diced into the cutscenes, and kinda felt shoehorned instead of being complimentary, if that makes sense.

I'm not sure if they played with the audio for MCC or not- hmmm.

Is he the composer for Halo4 as well? Because all I see while listening to the OST on Groove music is Neil Davidge.

He's responsible for that epic song that plays at the end of Halo 4 when the Didact is speaking - the John 117 theme is what I believe it's called.

This one is hardly official, but gives a good idea of where the soundtrack is headed.

Wow, Jinnouchi did some great work here! The blend of the style of music from the original trilogy and the new, more electric sounds of Halo 4 combined to form an experience that gave me goosebumps. I can't wait to hear more! There was a lot of variation in the style, too, so that bodes well for the rest of the game.

Do we know if the electric guitar is going to be used again in the soundtrack? That music popping up during Halo (2A?, might be mistaken here..) was the best!

Thanks for the confirmation, guys. Though for some reason, 117 is still listed by Neil Davidge (Xbox Music, WP8.1):

I barely heard any music in Halo 4, the aliens guns overpowered everything. And unlike previous Halo games, there is no slow ambient music while treading in the forest or exploring the world. Something I really missed in 343 music.

One thing though, listening to Halo 4 on the road is supreme. Awakening, Belly of the Beast, Arrival, 117, Faithless, Nemesis, Requiem...they are beyond anything I have heard in a videogame.

While Marty got that Videogamey ambient style, Neil/Jin got the Hollywood music perfectly. Just fix the mixing and you have a winner.

Halo 4's music was good but had absolutely no identity. Most of Davidges' tracks could be thrown into the latest Transformers trailer and it'd fit perfectly. Kazuma's tracks were the saving grace of actual Halo music in that game.

Not only does Halo 5's music appear have an identity, but it fits perfectly with what you'd come to expect from a Halo soundtrack but still manages to throw in a ton of new stuff. This sounds fantastic.

This sounds fucking amazing. Really looking forward to the ost. He did a great job of capturing that marty feel and incorporating something new at the same time.
