It is so hard to read this thread, it is full of people whining about texture popping and low FPS on a TEN YEAR OLD GAME running TWO complete texture packages (wrong wording, I know) simultaneously.

I really enjoy CEA. It's Halo 1 and it has co-op XBL, honestly that alone is enough for me. There are skulls, terminals, hopefully new eggs, etc. For $40.00 I honestly couldn't ask for more.

It is still a valid complaint.

I suck so hard. I
found the Terminal in the tunnels at the beginning of Halo
but I can't find the switch in the next room to make the bridge. :p

God forbid some people expect a very smooth performance from a 10 year old game with updated assets, making excuses on behalf of the developers helps no one. In the end if it doesn't bother you then fine, but these are real issues with the game and complaining about them should be just as welcome as praising the additions made.

As you come out of the tunnels, about halfway along on the right wall there will be a ramp you need to go up.

Right hand side of the room there is a ramp that leads up and turns left... You should see it if you stick to the right and walk along the wall.

Also, I drove over that very first hill with the Warthog, flipped, and somehow managed to make the gunner COMPLETELY DISAPPEAR.

And then I threw a grenade into a tree and killed myself. :p

Haven't played this yet, but I'm not too surprised about the negative comments I'm hearing. The framerate being sub par is extremely disappointing however. Is this sub par framerate only with the updated graphics or with the old graphics too?

From what I can tell its no where near as problematic as you might think. It seems to be comparable to Reach if not better in regards to the FPS.

I haven't seen the outdoors, but I've seen 343/Saber struggle with framerates, jaggies, sub 720p just like Bungie always have.

This is a pretty decent remake, but there's no point propping up 343 or saber by putting down Bungie, this is obviously not at the same level as Reach or even HALO 3 where Bungie developed a lot of their own tech, and Bungie is still going to be the better team capable of putting out a better product, pretty sure if Bungie gets to remake their own games they would do a much better job, no point trying to pretend 343 can ever fill Bungie's shoes.

I'm having such a great great time. Wonder why the series strayed off so much in later games.

Hahaha. After Reach, Bungie is the last thing I'd want anyone to follow.

I'm not going to judge 343 based on this. Remember Saber handled the Single Player here. However I am saddened that 343 let it go out at the quality level it's at. There is no reason it should have the issues it has. Keep in mind I'm playing entirely new graphics and sound. My second playthrough will probably be original to see how the gameplay experience compares in that mode. If that mode is smoother and doesn't have these issues then I'll probably play it in that mode for all future play throughs.

I will say though I'm enjoying the Terminals and hunting the skulls. These are nice additions to the game.

Wow...your name fits this post perfectly. Moran indeed.

Bungie has been on a downhill slide post-Halo 2. It's too early to say whether 343i is going to be able to "fill Bungie's shoes," but that's not exactly saying much. It says something about a development studio when the best game they've made in the last seven years was one they threw together in eight months, ODST. Halo 3 was an overhyped, overrated piece of shit and Reach was a little better, but still a pale comparison to Halo 2 or Halo: Combat Evolved. They may have been great 10 years ago, but they haven't proven themselves worthy of the elite status some give them on this board.

Besides, this is being judged on a quick remake in partnership with another studio.

Mainly because they're stiletto heels. Nobody should have to walk a mile in these stylish pumps. Meanwhile, 343 seems to be doing their own thing and doing just fine. Celebrate, bitches!

I just wasted as many as three seconds of my life looking at rock wall textures.

Edit: Why are the maps 1200 for seven, when usually they're 800 for three?

I mean not that I'm complaining.

Bunch of old farts over there, can't rely on them to guarantee that the game has a smooth framerate for the rest of us because their own real lives stutter and they don't notice the difference.

Oh one more good thing I will say is that the ascetics of the game are great. I like the designs of everything and once textures are loaded in everything looks amazing other then that night vision.

I have absolute faith in 343i and the Halo 4 team, especially considering Corrinne Yu is doing the engine. I actually went out of my way at HaloFest to tell Frank just that, and let him know that I'm standing behind the new team as a Halo fan, not just a mindless Bungie drone. Halo 4 will be the first real test for 343, and the team they have assembled is truly an all star line up of talent, if people would just take the time to research the AAA projects they have been involved with before, you'll see that Halo's greatest days are ahead.

In terms of the remake, it's fantastic. Sure there's a few graphical issues here and there, and the framerate may stutter from time to time, but these issues are very minimal. This is truly an incredible update to a 10 year old game. What 343 has done is simply give us a small taste of how passionate the team is about Halo, because this is truly a labor of love, and that puts me at ease.

Halo HD is pretty damn good, so easy to switch between the old graphics and the new. And your jaw always drops because they've really done great work. It looks like a whole new game, but with the same maps and areas that you know and love.

Can't wait for the Flood...

Also the Grunt Funeral Skull is ridiculously hilarious.

You pretty much just need to kill one and then it's just this beautiful chain reaction.

It's hilarious indoors, I've died so many times from dead grunts flying in to my face and exploding :lol

I agree, the 343 team has shown themselves to be incapable of besting the worst two entries in the Halo series. I for one will be voting with my wallet and not purchasing this pile.

Secretly, GAF members are always trying to best the 'pc graphics are too angular' comment.

It's been great. Played the shit out of it all last night.

Multiplayer has been a blast too with the old pistol. But Halo Waypoint is fucking up my armor unlocks, is there something going on Frankie? Waypoint won't retrieve most of my data.

I gotta defend Halo 3 here, it was 100x the game Reach is even with the latest playlists, maps, and updates. The only thing better about Reach is it's netcode. Saying Halo 3 is a piece of shit is blasphemy.

Yep, Waypoint is experiencing issues - and it may be related. The issues are technical, but the metaphor has something to do with Dax trying to change a flat tire with an AR.

The escarpment does not fit the environment. It looks like it suffers from wind erosion more than water erosion. The water is going to erode the bottom of the escarpment and cause overhang and possibly a collapse.

what the fucking fuck lmao. That has gone from nitpicking to utter retardation. I have yet to see some valid, realistic complaints.

I am not flaming you, or your team. I am trying to help. I can provide assistance, free of charge, and uncredited, if you chose to make another game with a coast.

Oh absolutely bro, 343i will hire you right away so you can correct the fucking "escarpment". We have an escarpment specialist to add to the credits now lol.

Ok, suspected as much. Thanks. For example, I had the recon helmet, and purchased its add on, but now the helmet is locked, but I can still add it by selecting its add on.

Weird shit like that. And the waypoint unlock helmets are now locked too.

I'll just wait I guess.

Good job on Anniversary by the way. So emotional. Got goosebumps up the neck when the disc first booted up. Sniper rifle sounds AMAAAAAAZING.

Can we get a Halo 2 HD remake with an ending :)
I would really love a "no sacred cow" approach to that. Fix every freaking problem that single player had, and I'd buy it a high price indeed.

Also, fucking UPS man is not here yet. :(

I have an extra Reach GonD code from the XDG3 beta I'd like to give out. It goes to the first person to reply in this thread with 2 things; swearing on your GAF account that you do NOT already own Reach, and the answer to the riddle below (one word will suffice). And, go!

harriet the spy wins, "Ring" is the answer, from Clash of the Titans. Also, Halo is a ring.

That post is four years old. They keep coming back, in one host form or another.

So far very happy with Anniversary. Thos multiplayer maps are god-tier. The campaign is really cool/fun. The lobby is really clunky. Why is it so weird to find local players?

Yeah, so, I have the game, and I clicked "Extras," but I'm not seeing any Fusion Frenzy demo. Is there something wrong with my copy?
