What's amazing about this is that it really throws into sharp relief the reality that MS has never, in the entire history of Xbox, secured a first-party studio which can make a franchise title. The departure of Bungie left MS scrambling to found and operate a caretaker studio for Halo and by all accounts 343i has not been up to the challenge of replacing Bungie.

Sort of not understanding. You mean how all their first-party titles bar Forza get abandoned by the people who made them?

There is some truth to, but this is a young industry. Really only Nintendo is been around long enough to have long term trends mean anything, and things move faster now than ever.

Sony starts new 1st party IPs every gen with their studios, so it's not too surprising that a few of those studios who were never owned by MS have moved on.

It's not like Bungie made Halo until the end of the is the metric by which we should judge their situation.

I don't see it happening. More likely a Halo 5 beta which has gone back to old Halo roots in some way with a couple of Halo 2 maps which they can build on for Halo 5. A very long beta test to get the series back on track online.

The Halo 2 campaign will quite the task by itself. They don't need Halo 2 curbing the Halo 5 community, mesh them together.
Go back together, push forward together with the best formula.
