Halo Movie Rumor: Denzel = Master Chief?!?!

wtf happened to your sho nuff avatar???
nooooooooooooooo!!!

I know, my vision of Sho Nuff has been shattered. :(

Denzel is a damn good choice for a strong bad-ass actor for any role in a halo movie that would fit. MC or sarg. His personailty would be great for the Halo story told in the character they would use him for.

Screw those that have to say MC has to be white. What a bunch of pathetic halo loyalists. I guess we can't mess with the precious dreams of those that have a "vision."

I heard Master Chief takes off his helmet at the end of HALO2 if you beat it on the highest difficulty setting. If that's true, can someone link me to a picture showing such?:)

When I spoke to a guy from bungie years ago he revealed that the plan was to reveal in the third halo game that MC was infact TUPAC!!!! So Denzel to play TUPAC it would seem, pour a 40 on the kirb.

On another note I remember before halo2 I was staying in LA with this family and their 14 year old son kept trying to tell me that when you finish halo on ultra hard which he had done twice you get an extended ending that MC takes off his helmet to reveal that he is a covenant. No matter how many times I told the kid he was full of lies he stuck by his claims, also said he had played halo2 already at school on his friend's laptop because the friends dad worked for FOX.... I swear if I wasn't such a composed person I would have broken his shins.

I heard a rumor that if you put a Halo 2 disc on a record player and play it backwards, you hear "CAPTAIN KEYES IS DEAD" over and over. Has anyone tried this?

No but I will try it RIGHT NOW, so I put the underside of the dvd to the needle right?

No idea if you are being serious or anything but Chief takes off his helmet at the end of the original Halo but you can't actually see anything due to the angle of the camera which has zoomed out and you can't see his head anyway as it is further obscured by the ship he is in. At least, that was my interpretation of what happened as far as I remember and I think Bungie want him to remain to be a faceless avatar as it were in the games.

Well he is described as being white in the books and his skin is very pale due to lack of sunlight from being in his Mjolnir armour all the time. Not that I honestly care either way what colour of skin he is and I really couldn't care less if his skin colour was changed for the film, I'm still rather apprehensive of this film for far more important reasons.

Wow, this is the first time I have ever seen everyone in complete agreement and still be argueing:lol.

Half or you think its a good role, half of you think it will suck, but everybody here says Denzel is great.

How laughable is it that some of you are bickering over the possibility of Denzel starring in a film that's almost guaranteed to be as forgettable as that last great Hollywood videogame adaptation, Doom. At this point, after the steady stream of poor adaptations that Hollywood has shamed the videogame industry with, who really cares about their take on Halo? It's not as if Bungie's franchise, great mechanics aside, isn't hobbled by a lame story. Rather than weighing in on who stars as Master Chief, Bungie should worry about atoning for Halo 2.

But we see what happens to franchises and series that ignore continuity; they're less credible when they ignore the attributes that have been introduced and accepted by those who control it. I don't understand what is so wrong with being as faithful to the story as possible? The Chief is white; admitting that shouldn't be tantamount to "racism, Oh my God!" just because a company and a collection of authors like Nylund have made the decision for you and you don't care for it. P.S. saying that the Chief/John is white as established in the novels doesn't mean that you want every story or video game to be headed or populated by only pale white people either, so don't get any ideas. If the issue is the color of one's skin, which seems petty yet horribly inescapable, then other characters could possibly be made to fit in the story to keep you hounds at bay?

Seriously though, Steve Downes IS Master Chief.

This is true.

Blatant troll factor aside, this is also true in some aspects.

It would be far too good for the Halo movie to have someone like of Danzel's caliber in the leading role. Damn extremely lucky.

There is a heavy stigma with videogame movies, they still have a lot too prove, case in point the talk about "But MC doesn't take his mask off!" You're right....in the game...games have really yet to prove themselves to really work as a cohesive film, not as game. You identify yourself a bit because you're playing the role, but this is a movie, better be concerned with making it a well functioning movie first and foremost.

I thought the last one was Silent Hill.

That's animated. The Halo movie is going to be live action, meaning he actually has to star in the film, other than do 15 minutes of VO in a studio.
Yeah I'm 4 pages too late, but I just gotta say: Mother Goose's Rock and Rhyme was live action, not animated, and it's a travesty you haven't seen it to know. :(
