Halo |OT4| Trust's a Tough Thing to Come by These Days

Pretty damn happy with how the LE sounds. I'm a sucker for customisation so weapon skins don't bother me at all, looking forward to seeing what they do with them. I love the AR, and I'll be using it a lot, I'm sure.

A sparkast before E3 (aswell as one after) would be great ‹3 haha. I need info to tide me over until we get more info. Infact, a surprise May 17th Halo 4 release just here in Ireland would be super thanks!

Fixed AR scrub.

I'm expecting E3 to be a pretty big Halo blowout, at least concerning the multiplayer component. For better or worse, we'll have a lot more solid information about what systems/items 343 is adding to the game and we can speculate/analyze the content and how it's gonna affect us in November.

If you are pre-ordering the Limited Edition of Halo 4 from Gamestop in-store, you have to put down at least $25. Just a heads up.

Good job 343i/Frankie, I'm really happy about the direction you went with the limited edition, seems like a mix of Reach's and Halo 2's packaging wise. <3

I hope FUD is on a disc at 1080p, and not just some code to stream it off Live or something... yuck

Glad about weapon skins! Black Battle rifle uuuunnnnggggghhhhhh

That key art gif is worth a fap goddammmmn

No Legendary Edition?
Sexy Limited Edition box?
Includes Season Pass.

Iiiiinteresting.
All this great end-of-work-day Halo news, it makes me a happy bunny.

Agreed, but going by previous similar stuff, I'm guessing 720p.

Wait... where's the BTS videos?
343I's been going for ~4 years, there's so many potential topics to cover in a 90~ minute making of documentary.

AR skins... very Gears of War route. :-/.

The specialisations.. ugh. No.

How can one drum up hype, discussion, speculation or excitement if one simply explains everything right away? I suspect you already know how the industry and marketing works in a general way so pardon me for calling out how bothered you are for something so trivial.
I'd rather they just explain how certain features work (doesn't have to be in great detail) and just don't go into the specifics. Like explaining how Armor Abilities work but don't tell us what kinds of AAs there will be in the game. That way the hype and speculation will still be there but we will at least know what to expect to a certain degree.

We'd all rather have the info. That's just how marketing works. Tweet about it.

So does the description of the future DLC mean that they're sticking with the 3 maps per pack model?

I wouldn't spend money on an LE, especially not one lacking so much concrete info. What if a few of the maps are for Spartan Ops or just for one mode or another? Where are the pictures of the skins? Etc. And, yes having a skin for the AR is just retarded.

If Amazon doesn't offer any sort of deal on the regular edition then I will go LE. I'm the opposite of Ghal: I don't mind the digital extras because they won't take up space. The Halsey Journal was an exception, but everything else that comes in limited editions always ends up as junk that I have to find a place for.

Hopefully packaging the map packs in the LE will lead to greater adoption of the new maps across all playlists.

I come bearing an important message.

9 DLC for competitive multiplayer (no spartan ops)

Spartan Ops wont get "map packs" because Spartan Ops is a digitally Delivered "season" with some kind of story behind it.

My guess is the 9 Maps are what 343 has factored into there DLC plans but more than 9 could certainly be a possibility depending when work starts on Halo 5 for instance.

AR skin is fine, obviously with this announcement also comes the announcement of weapon skins and its a pretty safe bet they will be unlockable for various weapons.

I say unlockable because the various large backlashes towards on disc DLC currently has been insane (epic, capcom ect) Microsoft do not want to push that model on to its signature franchise it would be incredibly detrimental to its reception.

Pics of skins would be really nice expecting something around E3.

So ehm, what are Specializations?
Wish 343 would be clear about MP info for once.
SPARcializations, get it right.

I sincerely hope it's for the procurement of the future episodes, online co-op, stat tracking, etc. Firefight was playable offline, it would be a real shame for it's replacement to screw over the folks that can't get live for whatever reason. Hopefully the game will come with a card for some free Live like most others do (if so, I'll give you mine if you need it).

I think you'll have plenty of time to find out all the concrete info. I doubt the Limited is that limited.

i miss bungie. not halo-wise, just them in general. i'm still excited to see what there next game is.

They've been working on it since Halo 2 right? I hope we hear something about it at E3, does Activision have their own conference?

Wouldn't be surprised to see the announcement at Sony's conference.

I'm not sure when they started, but I really hope to see something at E3. B.net has gone dark for almost a year now, with no information of the new game.

There is no way Microsoft would let a Bungie/Activision product NOT be associated with Xbox/Microsoft.

Who are you and what have you done with Letters?

Also, I wouldn't worry about making of or behind the scenes stuff...

LE looks pretty cool, I'll probably pick I up since I know I'd buy the maps anyway. And hopefully that's a steelbook case.

Also I'm still super worried about specializations. Can't wait for E3 where they'll be explained.

I don't want the viewing of the extras that I paid for to be at the whim of my internet connection. If digital content is only going to be available through Waypoint like it was for Reach, it should be free and not used as an incentive to purchase a pricier version of the game.

Completely agree with the inclusion of the map packs.

Will any limited edition videos be posted on Waypoint only rather than downloadable? Halo 4 LE content hopefully has both options. One thing that bothered me about Reach was that I couldn't download the Legendary Reach runthrough video but had to watch on Waypoint with low bitrate in comparison to downloading it.

Agreed, I haven't even watched the legendary waypoint commentary yet.

I gave up and waited for someone with a great internet connection and a capture card to upload it to YouTube. I then had to deal with the shitty YouTube compression, but that's manageable compared to Waypoint's compression.

'ancient evil bent on vengeance and annihilation'

“Halo 4” Redefines Iconic Franchise with “Halo Infinity Multiplayer” Experience
Available for pre-order today, “Halo 4” Limited Edition provides the ultimate multiplayer experience and “Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn” Special Edition

As millions of fans worldwide eagerly await the return of the Master Chief with the launch of “Halo 4” on Nov. 6, Microsoft and 343 Industries today revealed all-new details around the year’s most anticipated blockbuster.

Set almost five years after the events of “Halo 3,” “Halo 4” takes the series in a bold new direction and sets the stage for an epic new sci-fi saga, in which the Master Chief returns to confront his destiny and face an ancient evil that threatens the fate of the entire universe. In addition to a rich story and campaign, “Halo 4” introduces a groundbreaking new multiplayer offering, called “Halo Infinity Multiplayer,” that builds off of the “Halo” franchise’s rich multiplayer history and promises to continue to innovate and redefine the way people think about storytelling and multiplayer experiences.

Introducing “Halo Infinity Multiplayer”*

The hub of the “Halo 4” multiplayer experience is the UNSC Infinity – the largest starship in the UNSC fleet that serves as the center of your Spartan career. Here you’ll build your custom Spartan-IV supersoldier, and progress your multiplayer career across all “Halo 4” competitive and cooperative game modes. Surrounded by the sights, sounds and crew of the biggest vessel in the UNSC fleet, your multiplayer experience will be embedded in the fiction of “Halo” like never before, where your progress and game choices affect your appearance, arsenal, and role on the battlefield.

· Spartan Ops. The story of the UNSC Infinity intersects with the “Halo 4” campaign, then continues on in a brand-new, story-driven experience known as Spartan Ops. A first of its kind and exciting new addition to the “Halo” franchise, Spartan Ops is an episodic adventure that blends immersive storytelling, high-quality cinematics, and action-packed gameplay to deliver an unprecedented serialized experience.

Through a weekly series of cinematic episodes on Xbox LIVE, Spartan Ops will tell the continuing story of the UNSC Infinity, following the events of “Halo 4.” These episodes will center on the UNSC Infinity leaders and crew, and a new team of Spartans – Majestic Squad. These cinematic episodes will provide the backdrop for the weekly Spartan Ops gameplay missions. Playable in single-player or cooperatively (with up to three friends), explore the corners of Requiem in these objective-based missions, and help uncover the secrets of the mysterious Forerunner world.

A massive-scale adventure that builds off the “Halo 4” story, access to Spartan Ops is included with “Halo 4” at no additional charge – effectively delivering two campaign experiences in one game.*

· War Games. The competitive multiplayer modes of “Halo 4,” known as War Games, take place on the combat deck of the UNSC Infinity and revive the visceral and immersive experiences that “Halo” multiplayer is famous for. “Halo 4” introduces fresh, immersive new game modes and strategies to help you progress your Spartan-IV career, while also delivering an experience that’s still distinctly and uniquely “Halo.” More details on all the modes of War Games will be released at a later time.

· Total Combat Freedom and Player Progression. “Halo 4” features a vastly expanded suite of new multiplayer modes, weapons, vehicles, armor abilities, a new loadout and player progression system, and a new armor modification system that introduces gameplay-enhancing customizations for the first time in a “Halo” game. These advancements can be used in both Spartan Ops and certain War Games matchmaking playlists, empowering player choice, vastly expanding their creative options, and make the experience deeper for core fans and more approachable for newcomers.

The “Halo 4” player progression system goes beyond simple aesthetic upgrades, encouraging players to invest time and effort to create a Spartan that looks and plays the way they want. Players can earn and activate combat enhancements called “Specializations” based on the style of play they engage in, from stealth to all-out assault, and everything in between.

“Halo 4” Limited Edition

Available for preorder today, the “Halo 4” Limited Edition maximizes your multiplayer experience and puts you in the boots of a Spartan-IV aboard the UNSC Infinity – the hub of your “Halo” multiplayer career.

Ok that explains things a lot better..man that sounds sexy overall. I am still bummed about no legendary collectable edition since I am a sucker for statues and stuff, but ah well. Also, Armor skins? That could be really cool.

I really see that .gif getting some use. So sexy.
