Halo Reach E3 Trailer [M-CONF]

The HUD is interesting. It's got a meter for shields, health and boosters, but also an indicator that says, "Machinegun Enabled | System Online".

I assume that means the machinegun can be disabled, and the system taken offline. Curious how and why, and what other weapons it might have.

I bet its just that you can't shoot while boosting, so weapons "disable"

keep in mind, the guy was a: standing b:12 feet away from a 27" screen and c: on a stage in front of thousands. I doubt Marcus is really all that bad at the game.
Thats a good reason as to why he was bad, but then why didn't he move forward to actually play the demo of the game they're showing? You're demoing the game, you're not their to show off yourself, so theres no reason to stand so far away.

Ah, hadn't thought of that, it could be a toggle. They'd mentioned that the toggle had been tweaked on the Banshee, I wonder if a HUD display for which weapon is enabled is part of it. Though I'd still rather have one button for each weapon.

That shot gave me the thought that maybe you can pilot the Seraph; it looks like the equivalent of the UNSC ship. Seraph vs. Saber combat in MP?

Each team has a cruiser to defend from assault from the other team's squadron.

Oh gosh.
Star Wars Battlefront 2?!

Battlefront II was awesome. Space battles were a bit lacking though

Ah yes, Marty's best work (especially relating to the gameplay sequence it accompanied), hands down. There's still this nerd inside of me that says Halo wouldn't be half as popular as it is without it's amazing music, I didn't care a single bit about music in games until I heard On A Pale Horse while you're fighting on the bridge.

:lol :lol :lol poor EazyB

Hey lets all post pictures of cakes and have discussions about useless shit instead up in this bitch.

Battle music sucked all sorts of ass, where is my "gun pointed to the head" remix :p // the ambient music was of course just freaking awesome

Really hope they nail the Sabre controls. I haven't played a single game that nailed it as good as SW: Rogue Squadron 1/2 did.
Those games had no flight physics at all. They made the Ace Combat games look like the Falcon series.

Please for the love of gaf, do not keep quoting all those gifs. They instantly crash Chrome and feed the bandwidth monster. We have all seen the trailer, no need to gif it. Thumbs up, Dankss.
I uninstalled Chrome after less than a day. What a piece of shit...

I'm 110% in. After the conference demo, the only way I can accurately convey my excitement for Reach is through the medium of vuvuzelas. Reach is 13 BRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRs out of 10 on my hype meter.

Negative.
Actually, positive. Pre-release megathreads are no longer allowed if I understand the new rules correctly, new threads must be created for every worthwhile piece of news. No biggie really, we will all stick together always migrating to the new threads and continuing our discussions like as if nothing happened.

Went back and watched the trailer Bungie posted. While it has some cool footage, it really was pretty poor. The stage demo on the other hand was simple awesome. The music while in space before the demo was great. I really, really am happy with that showing.

Ah, well that may be confusing..but I guess if people keep posting links to the newest thread from the old one it may help.

Btw, whats the ETA on more footage or whatever, tomorrow? Or will it be a wait and see thing?

That looks great! I've always enjoyed Halo single player (or co-op) as much as multi, so I hope the campaign is playable tomorrow. I'm making a beeline for Bungie first thing, albeit perhaps with a Child of Eden detour first 'cause I also love me some Rez.

Was hoping to some dynamic environmental shadows and global HDR in Halo Reach, but seems like it was traded for scale. Can't complain much but dark games look blurry on my TV.

Hopefully we get to see some 20 UNSC vs 40 Covenant battles soon.

Dear Bungie,

Give us plenty to talk about tomorrow. Please. Space combat was only enough to get us through a few pages before we got bored.

Love,

Space combat was good for a few hours, E-drama and Halo hate lasted the rest of the night. :lol

Just got the chance to watch the demo. Got damn that looked pretty.

+1 for the 'why would you spray at the Elites during an E3 demo to make the combat look super uninteresting' crowd, though.

I guess this goes to show how accustomed we are to excellent music when we get something sub-par, everyone flips out.

Thing is, in the full demo most of the music is amazing. I'm not fond of the rock part, but the rest is right up there with Marty's best; the opening section is gorgeous. I'm hoping the mix is close to Halo 2 or 3's mix of themes and the rock is the exception.

....aaaand just watched the bnet trailer.

Can someone explain why Bungie insists on making these fast-cut trailers when they are never ever ever ever as impressive as the slower ones, even if the fast ones aren't as 'hardcore?'

See: Halo 3 reveal trailer vs. E3 2007 campaign trailer, and Reach reveal trailer vs. this mess.

I guess I'm one of the few people who were so into the demo they didn't even notice the rock. I've watched that demo 4 times now and I only just now noticed it and it's not even that bad.

Yeah, it really isn't, but it wouldn't be GAF without all the complaining

I don't get it.
He was arguing that Halo is repetitive when it can easily be said that the core Mario games are just as repetitive. Though I have tons of fun with both games. SMG was great, NSMB was a lot of fun, and 64 is an all-time favorite.

Watched the trailer a couple times more, and I now agree with blueblur. The trailer showed off a cool battle with an awesome invasion feel and space battles. It's exciting, but it's not a lot to discuss. The "Lone Wolf" trailer had us disecting it for hours. Let's hope we get some cool new information tomorrow.

Probably because we had just played the beta a month ago. The Lone Wolf trailer aspired more discussion because it was something nobody on here had seen before.

I wouldn't mind information on FireFight next, even if its minimal. For example, how many players can play together, what format is it compared to ODST, etc. - don't expect a big reveal over it, as it isn't something necessarily huge.

It will be easier if somebody remembers to link to the new thread from the previous thread(s) whenever one is created, so we don't have to go hunting for it. I find the new thread hunting is especially more difficult in these days when the forum gets marked as read as soon as you look at the first or second page...

Some three big images of Reach.

I wonder what happened to the self-shadowing effect on the guns that was present in the first vidoc. It seems to be cut from beta and E3 builds. I quite liked it.

Beautiful. That first shot is my wallpaper. I keep replaying that Sabre launch sequence over and over. Reach's surface look stunning from orbit, any of the shots from the static cameras latched on the Sabre look incredible actually.

Wonder where's Jun? He's been sitting there in Trasher's avatar preparing his mags for who knows how long, it's his time to shine.

Oh please, it's still boring to watch when they've got the difficulty on scrub.

Seriously, I'd love for them to finally toss out a Legendary beastthrough for one of these pressers. There was some jackass here on GAF going off on like "Looks like standard Halo, stupid AI shoots over your shoulder and charges you down" and it's just like.... wtf, have you even breathed oxygen before?

Hmm... a couple of questions...

1. How does an Elite get armour lock, when he has just landed from a dropship that probably just arrived at Reach, and the armour lock ability (as with all AAs) was supposedly developed on Reach?
2. Who is the female voice that congratulates Noble 6 on the Elite assassination? I presume that it's a Cortana-like AI?

Really enjoyed the E3 video, not sure about the space battles but we'll have to wait and see.

I did a Legendary run-through for Halo 3's release, I feel another one coming on for Halo: Reach, but a feeling says it's going to be tougher.

1. The armour lock ability for Spartans was developed on Reach. That doesn't mean that the Covenant didn't develop the same ability for their shields at the same time. (Alternatively: just accept it, this is how Bungie deals with the Halo canon; they're meticulous about most things, until they need to make a change that just makes sense gameplay-wise.)

2. I think it's just one of the Marines.

Actually, negative. A thread with the title "Halo Reach E3 Trailer [M-CONF]" is not going to turn into the "discuss everything Reach related" thread. Especially when that always turns into the "discuss everything Halo related" thread. Unless a mod changes the title and direction I guess.

Watched the 1st-person gameplay and I'm really hyped again. It looked great and I love the scripting and atmosphere. Damn
