The video got better as it played. Space footage looked pretty good.

I'd forgotten that Sage worked on Crimson Skies. Massive grin broke out at that mention.
 
That son of a bitch Lars didn't even have the decency to shoot that new gun off :(

Kinda weird to have that weapon alongside the plasma launcher but then again we don't know if there are any other features that set it apart other than lock-on.

Yeah shoot, I can't believe I never put two and two together- It never crossed my mind that they would use his prior experience to do awesome space encounters.

Yup. The custom armor shows up in all game modes, MP, Firefight and Campaign, including the campaign cinematics.
 
Couldn't wait any longer for HD just started watching the lowres, and MINDFUCKINBLOWN at how the spacecombat is!!! I thought this would we something like Starfox or Rez where you basically move the cursor around and are on rails... but you can actually explore that segment as you please.. wowowow :O

Man, I would never leave Sabre Firefight. I hope there's multi space combat, but I don't think they've said anything yet.

It would seem like an incredible waste of talent to hire that Crimson Skies guy just for a mission or two...
 
I'm about to head down to the Reach event in a few minutes. Only a few things could pull me away from watching the Laker game tonight and Halo is one of them. :lol

I'll post my impressions when I get back.

You can see the Shadowrun influence much more clearly, I think they were much more excited about that when they hired him. Crimson Skies is really just a bonus.

Waste of talent? Sage main responsibility is the entire Reach sandbox. How the vehicles and weapons handle and how players interact with them and each other. No small task. I'm pretty sure he's working flatout like everyone else rather than being "wasted" doing a small level segment.

You misunderstand. I just mean, if they are getting him to work on some flight scenes like this, it would seem like a big waste of effort to just have it for a few missions. As in, I sure hope they implement it in multiplayer somehow.

Tung said in the IGN interview that the space stuff is limited to this single level in the Campaign.

yeah, tung did say that its a multistep mission though, starting with the spartans defending the space station but moving towards taking a covenant ship (ala halogaf speculation... the covenant cruiser sp/mp level).

cant believe how incredible it looks and tung said their were many more campaign surprises in store for us

Yeah... now I'm going to have to do the same just so I can bust out laughing every time my Hello Kitty-looking Noble 6 pops up in a cinematic.
 
Okay, healing bubble sounds cool, i'll be curious to see how it works, especially since it seemed like there was zero down time for it.

Space dogfighting looked surprisingly good for a single level, the drop shield mechanics looked good, dropping banshees looked surprisinglysatisfying, and there was a nice sense of speed. I worry though, if this is "among the craziest things" I worry about a halo single player that relies too heavily on gimmicks.

So I'm disapointed that we aren't seeing any huge battles this E3, that was the thing I looked forward to the most :(

me too. at least the campaign demo FELT like a massive battle though.

I still have the text file. Interestingly enough, it did have the Sabre, Seraph, and Concussion Rifle in there. There was also an item called a "Shield Regenerator" which I'm assuming became the "Drop Shield".

Oh my god this video is awesome. That air strike thing is amazing, the game looks great, the drop shield is cool, fixed theater scrubbing, Firefight sounds just spectacular when they talk about it, Hunters look sweet...man. I am so hyped for this now.
Just wish we could see that damn concussion rifle! :lol
 
BTW it is so fucking hot to see the DMR with a 15 bullet clip size rather than the 12 we played with in the Beta.
 
The flight looked so amazing, and the smooth transition is fantastic. I wish Tung wouldn't have kind of side-stepped the question about other areas of flying, though. I am sure the editor meant for MP - could be wrong, though. :P

Reach has to be game of the year, it probably wont be because of the Halo phobia around, but with all the content theyre packing in theres no way any other game can come close.
 
Uhg i missed out on the hype yesterday. I have a bulging disk in my back and am basically crippled now.


anyway, wooo firefight with matchmaking!!!:D
