Halo: The Master Chief Collection Beta Update Program Announced

Did you check your privilege as a North Amurican citizen?

Yup. Plus I even got a message asking me to launch the app and join. There's just nothing there.

Try a hard reset and see if that helps.

Reset did nothing. Hopefully the ability to opt in shows up quick.

Yeah, I'm not seeing the survey. I see Evolve survey and few others. However, according to the completion section, I still have one more survey, but its not showing.

I don't have any surveys not showing. I just see the Evolve and other ones. Are outside the US but still part of NA by any chance? Maybe that is the issue?

I've already checked that. While playing MCC, I got a message prompting me to launch the preview app and take a survey if I wanted in. But there is nothing there. In the survey app, all I see is questions about the Evolve beta or something completely random, like smartglass, achievement snap questions.

Yeah I had the same thing. Did today's update, then did the Evolve survey. Tells me there's a Halo one, even got a message on Live about it...but there isn't one.

Assuming everything is still shit, I ask for my refund tomorrow. I'm sorry, but 1 month of XBL and a bunch of additional content for a game that doesn't work is not adequate compensation. Especially considering this is the game that got me to by the console.
When did you purchase the game? If you purchased it on launch, good luck with that refund. If I thought I could still swing a refund, I would totally go for it.

Hmm, just played a few matches, and everything went pretty well. It still dumps you back to the playlist select at the end of a match though. Is playing with parties still pretty bad? I never had any luck with it when I tried to play with a friend.

I just had a btb match, started fast but it was super laggy. The issues must be complete fixed. They're under a microscope. Any flaws are going to be raged on, no matter how small.

My plan right now is to create a separate thread about it, because I have a lot of issues on my mind right now. This shit is not getting nearly as much press as it deserves. This is quite possibly worse than the SimCity EA debacle.

I bought the game digitally, if I'm able to get the refund I'll be sure to let NeoGaf know. The MCC was a glorified key for the Halo 5 "beta."

While local modes (campaign and split-screen) have been pretty much ideal for me at this point, it's worth noting that less than a week ago, I simply couldn't get into any matchmaking multiplayer. The process never got past the menus, even giving it several minutes to work behind the scenes.

Really interested to see if this works. Anxious to hear the feedback from fellow preview members. Hopefully it's a step in the right direction.

Hey guys I have a question did you have to play multiplayer to get the bonuses?

I played some online co-op before at launch but quit playing because our progress would restart. I haven't received a message fir free live month yet.

This is crazy. But honestly im excited since the patch significant enough to warrant a beta.

if it works, I might consider buying this game back.

Short of a complete recall, there is no "right direction." The only way that this can be partially fixed is for Microsoft to announce that they are recalling the game and re-releasing it at a later date.

You can't make this shit up... A game so broken it needs another run of beta testing post release to prove out that the fixes will actually work.

Based on my experience on a fiber-optic network at work, it's basically only limited by your network environment.

I see. I guess I should specify, uploading from Xbox One to OneDrive. There's nothing wrong with my network right now. Getting 1.8Mbits/s for a 5 minute video. I see Xbox Live is experiencing a service interruption right now, but it doesn't look like OneDrive is affected.

I can confirm that even if you never attempted multiplayer during the original effected window, you should still be included in the compensation offers.

Honestly, I'm just desperate for anything that will make this game run 100%. Gotta try and hang onto that hope. I can't even get excited for the brand anymore with this thing still functioning the way it is.

This is basically like that BF4 community testing server so they can test stuff with the public before launching the patch for everyone. Nothing to get upset over (with this in particular).

Pretty much, but now it makes me wonder if the MCC is going to take as long to become as stable as BF4 did over the course of last year.

I thought they would have given up on this by now

There's some hardworking, passionate, good people at 343. Say what you will about their technical competency but they're trying hard to fix it at least. Can't be easy to handle such a collection in such a short time frame (regardless of whether it was right to release it at the time it did or not).

I hear you, but honestly at this point I think the best we can hope for is that they eventually get their matchmaking issues sorted out. I don't think we're ever going to see them fix the netcode for Halo CE or Halo 2. There is literally no financial insensitive for Microsoft to continue to spend money on this project beyond trying to salvage Halo brand integrity as a gesture of goodwill.

This game literally needs to be re-released. It is broken on so many levels that I don't think it's salvageable. This is certainly not the game that was initially advertised.

Dear Microsoft/343,

You're supposed to call it an "Update Preview for Halo: The Master Chief Collection", not a beta lol.

Sincerely,
Someone with absolutely zero PR experience.

I blame this entirely on upper management within Microsoft/343. The people developing the product at the ground level are just doing their job, and I'm sure there are plenty of smart people on the 343 team. It's the management that forced this turd out before Christmas, and had no sense the budget/hours needed to pull off a project this large in scale.

Hahaha, this is a very good point. I'm surprised that nobody at 343/Micosoft thought this was a bad idea.

For MCC being something I was really excited about, I sure haven't given it much thought since the 3rd week after release. That was where I reached my breaking point. Haven't booted the game up since, not even for the Halo 5 beta. I'm a much happier person having forgotten about MCC.

I'm not totally sure what's up with that. Going directly to youtube upload with it has been much faster for me.

Well, this is all speculation, as is what I'm about to say, but doesn't the publisher "force out turds" and not the developers?

Either way, doesn't really matter. sucks either way

I am glad they appear to be rebuilding from the ground up but can they do the same in remaking more maps? This game badly needs more maps.

This whole MCC debacle is so outlandish and pathetic. 343i really embarrassed themselves, MS and Halo as a franchise.

They shouldn't be applauded for fixing the game, that's the least you can expect from a developer/publisher that sold you a non-functioning product.

They are so passionated that they outsourced the hole game to a bunch of other studios and then released a broken product, such passion indeed.

Hyperbole much. Did You even Play Halo MCC? Its Working WAY better, than some People pretend.

Also, would You like ubisoft's way better? They stopped Working on Unity after 4 patches.

Did he make any comment lauding Ubisoft's approach? Or are you trying to distract from the completely valid point he made?
