Have you ever fallen asleep while playing a video game?

There may have been other games, but the one that sticks in my mind are the pirate ship battles in Skies of Arcadia. I love SoA, but those battles were utter torture.

I fell asleep playing Final Fantasy XI.

Mostly due I was up playing late till 5am and flying in the airship put me to sleep.
Boy, was my linkshell leader pissed (he was leading me to somewhere but i stopped responding) :lol

I fell asleep searching for a BTB game in Halo 3 a few months back. Woke up like 30 mins later and it still hadn't found enough players around my rank for a game. :(

I've never fallen asleep while playing a game, but I have passed out a couple times. I was playing Halo 2 with a couple friends of mine who suck at the game; one of them killed me three times in a row and was super-excited about it, but then he looked over and realized I had passed out the controller in my hand and I was just sort of spinning in circles.

I don't really get the point... Won't you fall asleep doing most things if you're tired/sleepy?

Or is this a thread to bash games people consider to be boring? And if you think the game is boring, why are you still playing it until you can't stay awake anymore in the first place? You should go sleep or play something that you actually consider to be fun instead.

Probably 50% of times that I sleep alone, I fall asleep reading GAF.

Last night I fell asleep playing GTA4 after a midnight launch. Night before I fell asleep playing The World Ends With You. When I played Dragon Warrior (Quest) VII, I would start around 1am and play for about 2 hours a night. I fell asleep pretty much every day when I was playing that.

I'm all about falling asleep while playing games.

My friend and I were taking turns playing Assassin's Creed. After a while, I passed him the controller and then fell asleep because it was so boring watching him do the same thing over and over and over.

Playing PSP/DS games every now and then. I remember playing Phoenix Wright while half asleep, when I woke up after a few hours later I didn't even know what was going on in the game.

there used to be some funny youtube footage out there of a guy who was asleep in halo 2 . he was snoring and everything and they started pushing and moving his charecter into odd situations.

Once, during one of the early long codec conversations in MGS2, partly because I was dead tired and partly because it was so long. When I woke up, Snake was just standing around and I didn't know what was going on or how long I had been asleep for.

Fell asleep playing Mario Kart Wii last night with a few of my friends. Dozed off, then they yelled at me for slamming into the wall and losing the race. They had a good laugh out of it.

Playing Final Fantasy XI. I joined up with a team to do some leveling and it was like 4 in the morning, after some battling I just clunked out on top of my keyboard. I woke up 5 hours later with my guy dead and drool all over my keyboard :lol .

Ogre Battle 64

Loved the game. In college, after early morning workout, full day of school, and baseball practice, I'd hurry home excited to play. I'd get everything set and as my little men fanned out across the map...

zzZZzzZZzz.

Happened a handful of times.

Because I think I did while playing
Mario Kart Wii
tonight.

I fell asleep a few times during FFXI online, it's usually not a good idea for the white mage to fall asleep.

Depends..
There's faleen asleep because you were the entire day working/doing something..and the free time you finally have you're too tired..you still decide to play a game, and you fall asleep because of how tired you are..

And then, there's falling asleep because of a game being just boring..

I mean..was the OP bored with Mario Kart Wii, or just tired? :p

In any case, when I can't help it..I just turn off the game and go to sleep..no need to force myself..is not like the game is not going to be tehre when I wake up (unless is the usual dream of me playing an un-released game.. that is not there when you wake up ... :( )

Animal Crossing DS.. woke up with the DS beside me still on.

That's good battery life for you!
Or maybe just a short sleep?

EDIT: Forgot the obvious one too..

I'm almost positive I've never done this unless you count sleep mode or purposely leaving a game on. My younger brother does this a lot, but I don't get it.

Suikoden III (1st time I can remember falling asleep while playing a game)
Dragon Quest VIII (just boring)
Grandia III (recovering from surgery)
Daxter on PSP (same as above)
Zelda: Twilight Princess on Wii (just tired)

So weird you brought this topic up, as it happened to me for the first time last week while playing GT5:P.

I would fall asleep on a straight, and literally brace myself when I felt the controller rumble as I went off the road around a corner.

So weird... :lol

PSO.

I fell asleep one night while my Ranger was in the lobby. When I woke I was laying on the analog stick and my guy was running in circles. I looked at the chat log and during my sleep period like 12 of my friends had enetered the room and asked WTF I was doing.:lol

Shenmue is the only time it's happened to me and it was only around 4 or 5 PM. I wanted to like it and had heard such good things about it, but it just wasn't very entertaining at all.

When I was in college my roommate would fall asleep playing games all the time. One day I woke up, and he was slumped over in his computer chair with Icewind Dale 2 music playing softly.

Another time I walked in and he was reclining in his bed, eyes closed, PS2 controller still in his hand while the character in GTA: Vice City just stood on a street corner watching the traffic go by. I pried the controller out of his hand and he never even woke up.

I've never fallen asleep while playing a video game. I'm too mentally involved in what's happening on screen, and if I start getting too tired I usually just quit and go to bed.

Maybe I'm missing a truly transcendent experience?
