Having trouble telling these Nintendo games apart...

This applies to many, many of your posts. You really should have learnt by now :p.

It really doesn't. You were one of the dudes always chiding me about Wii U comments and predictions... exactly what Psycho_Mantis described.

Your current avatar was from getting a Wii U prediction wrong, just saying. Don't act like you were right about everything.

AND...that has nothing to do with you not being able to tell each of these games apart from each other.
It was a random individual media create sales week prediction, nothing broad whatsoever. Turns out it had the right idea as well, Wii U been selling like 10k a week.

New Mario Bros. Dream Team Bros.
Mario and Luigi RPG 4

Well, besides the point that the first one is not even the title of the game you are referring to, both happen to be the same game, so I agree, I wouldn't be able to tell them apart either.

Really? I can't remember that TBH, got any proof? The first time I remember seeing you on gaming side was when you waltzed in a MC thread and starting sprouting, how shall I put this, insane things.

Nintendo games (mario especially) certainly share a similar color scheme there is no denying that, and most of these games feature similiar charcters....yeah I actually agree with you

The new Zelda could easily fit into the Mario-verse...or Animal Crossing

EDIT When Nintendo confines themselves to 5 main-line franchises, there are obviously rules set in place of how each game should look being a part of that universe

Right, similar art styles, colors, characters, themes, tones, atmosphere...homogeneous.

I think it helps to understand the contexts of why certain things have certain art styles and presentations first before jumping the gun and say everything is the same...

You understand it's the exactly same place as ALTTP? So of course it's going to looks similar.

To a Link to the past? Sure. But the super rounded edges to everything and soft color palette seems to evoke the style started with the Miiverse

EDIT: Its similiar how all 2d Disney movies from the 90s have that "Disney-look" to them

I dont think this is as ridiculous as everyone thinks...its simliar to the Disney Princesses
All are from different movies, but share a similiar styling...so no its not ridiculous to get some Nintendo games confused (If you want confusing try telling the Animal Crossing games apart when rendered at the same resolution)

See, now this makes sense, I'd like to point out to the OP how no one will jump on this like they did his post because it actually shows knowledge and more than 2 seconds of thought and research.

Also, I thought there were only 2 AC games, the original, and New Leaf? :p

Stop condescending/belittling him! I'll contact Bish if I have to!

If you have trouble telling NSMB and Mario and Luigi 4 apart... Oh wait, it's just Heavy. You can easily tell these games apart, you're just using pedantry to push your tired point. Got it.

As a casual observer of Nintendo games, I have trouble differentiating these. Is anyone else? I can tell they're different games but they all sort of mesh together. Art styles are similar, characters, settings, it's confusing. I guess you could say the same for:

Call of Duty X
Battlefield X

...but it's not as bad, probably due to the huge marketing campaigns and separate reveals.

No, there is no fucking way to distinguish CoD and Battlefield unless you are a fan or close observer of either or both titles. "Casual observers" or disinterested gamers will not be able to tell you which is which. They are exactly as "homogenous" as the art styles for Mario games. You just don't like or care about Mario games so you can't tell them apart.

I get it, lists of games titles can look like algebra sometimes, find the value of these games:

SMT x FE
x+y
SMT4
SM3DL
NSMB2
LM2
OoT3D
x

This poor troll attempt should not be tolerated, just sayin'

We know OP's history, it's getting more and more pathetic

Every single one of those plays completely differently and they honestly look nothing alike outside of having the same characters.

I can't tell the difference between my Dr. Pepper and Mountain Dew. It's like the same thing, right? They both come in the exact same shape of can. They're both carbonated drinks. They're both big, brand name drinks. They're both classified as soda. They both ruin my diet. They're both delicious.

They also taste completely different.

The art is part of the Mario games. They intentionally have specific models they use in each 3-D game to keep them consistent. It's by design. Doesn't make the games look the same, though. Just Mario looks like the same 3-D model, because it basically is.
Yeah. To save money.

Nintendo is kind of in the shitter right now. This is coming from a Nintendo fan. They need new blood, new leadership....something.

I wanted to play some Mario Kart last night but I couldn't tell if I was playing Paper Mario or Luigi's Mansion. Screw you, Nintendo.

From the outside in, if you just happen to be glancing over and not paying much attention, then yeah, the games look similar. They have that rounded-edge, bright, colorful, upbeat look to them. It's Mario's thing. The new Zelda game just happens to share some similarities. Looking deeper, well... I don't think I need to say how different each one of those games actually are. :P

do you want to see a Pixar movie with blood, guns, and starring Tom Cruise?
That's a pretty intellectually dishonest question. Those comparisons aren't similar. Nintendo has made drastic changes in art styles over the years for various games. Their games over the last few years have looked relative generic. I think it's indicative of the Nintendo being a lot more conservative that's days, especially considering the uphill climb they have with the wii u.

Yea i was already wondering what happened with the rubberbanding Ai when i was playing Luigi's mansion 2.

I think the argument is not that the games play similar, but are aesthetically very similar....which is true and not crazy regardless of someones post history

When youve got 5 games coming out from the same universe and another taking cues from this universe (Zelda) its not hard to understand why someone would find this confusing

EDIT: Glad some people have joined the conversation who arent content with just calling the OP and idiot and calling it for the day
