you still need a way to boot the cd-r
Defensor said:Yes, so long as you have a Hdd for the Hdloader.

Opps... that too along with a Hdd. Magic Disks will boot up the program fine if you can find those on unmodded PS2's.Milhouse31 said:you still need a way to boot the cd-r
All you will need is the Swap Magic Cd. If you are interested, talk to you during SOCOM II this week.Wario64 said:The CD-R thing is just a one time process, right? Anyone mind lending me a swap magic DVD for a day?
Is there any compatability conflicts using the memory card exploit, or is it pretty much like the real thing?
The thing is, the files are either invisible on the memory card when viewing from the Browser, or are the corrupted blocks that I have on my card. Tenchir or Faceless, help me out here...Wario64 said:Couldn't a sharkport just work? Transfer the files from PC to memory card?
HDAvance is a 100% hack.. nothing was changed except text and images, well, and a huge table of contents so people with fliptops only have to swap one less time... compatibility is 100% identical...Milhouse31 said:HDLoader is dead but you can still find some, HDAdvance (which is a HDLoader hack I think it was proved) is supposed to be more compatible and use the same partition system (and thus the same tool) than HDLoader.
So if you can't get HDLoader get HDAdvance it's in practice the same stuff

neither... the hdloader version that runs off memcards via exploit/dms3/etc...Wario64 said:The actual HDDloader or a burned copy of the HDDloader? A real copy of the HDDloader can load itself...

i haven't actually tried this or anything, but i heard the new action replay that comes with that genesis emulator lets you launch pretty much any homebrew app, including hdloader

Today we decided to release a tiny (14.2KB) custom BOOT.ELF
allowing end-users to run HD Advance directly from their Memory Card!
No longer are unnecessary files such as 'PS2Menu' required on the MC,
and triggering the Independence Exploit with any original PSX disc will
bring up the game selection menu automatically. Lastly, our BOOT.ELF
file auto-checks the PS2 BiOS, and loads the HD Advance ELF from
either BEDATA-SYSTEM, BADATA-SYSTEM, or BIDATA-SYSTEM as
necessary.![]()
MoxManiac said:You still need a modded ps2 for that, right tenchir?
Milhouse31 said:And you can transfert game from the PC->PS2 through the network adapter ( no need to swap the PS2 HD in your PC to install "difficult to install" games anymore )![]()

Works on DNAS games - most of them. Apparently SOCOM 2 is one that doesn't work, but latest EA games work.Elaborate on this online patch: will this work on certain games or can it be used on games that use the DNAS protocol?
Yeah, that's old news, but as I've said above, you can actually make this work using only a HDLoader disc and unmodded PS2.Just look around the that link posted above. And you can transfert game from the PC->PS2 through the network adapter ( no need to swap the PS2 HD in your PC to install "difficult to install" games anymore )
Milhouse31 said:You need HDL_Dump 0.6. and you still need to to do the HD swaping trick to install the little proggy on the PS2 side the first time. After that no more swaping.
Note FAPLink is another proggy that let you install games via the NA.
Damn, my Western Digital HD won't fit. I tried opening the Network adaptor, but the data and power connectors have some weird screws on them that I can't remove.
Rubeus said:You can simply use extension IDE cable and power cords, that should work for any hard drives.

Just got my Sharkport today. The HDloader MC exploit does indeed work. Now I just need an HD (that can fit, I have 3 Western Digitals and they don't fit arg. And I don't know where my IBM HD is..yeah I know they suck, but they fit)
Miburou said:Sorry for sounding dumb, but where can you find these? I tried at futureshop.ca and radioshack.ca and couldn't find anything.
Just found out that there's a patching utility that allows you to play games online after you install them with HDLoader. It's called WinDIP1.7
MoxManiac said:Does this work on an unmodded PS2? What do I need? Sharkport + HDD?
adelgary said:Couple of weeks ago I found an online guide (with images and illustrations) on how to modify the NA to fit any kind of hard disk, it looked very simple.

isamu said:Appearantly they're saying there is now a patch that lets you play ps-one games off the HD and that there is absolutely NO loading times when doing so.
!!! Please don't get our hopes up if it's not trueisamu said:Appearantly they're saying there is now a patch that lets you play ps-one games off the HD and that there is absolutely NO loading times when doing so.
