Hearthstone Closed Beta - Open beta in NA, elsewhere next few days. New thread soon!

Got two 9 win arena games with Warrior. They are really strong now. One of the packs gave me a golden rare Sunwalker and a Legendary The Black Knight.

Feels good bros.

I've not played many card games before (tried to get into them by playing scrolls) but I really want to play this game, it just looks awesome.

Looks like the Blizzcon Virtual Ticket bonus for Hearthstone is a card called Mysterious Minion. No idea what it is or does. They really should have sold beta access with it. Without getting into it myself that isn't exactly a great incentive to make me buy that ticket.

After being in the beta for two days, I can safely say that no game has made me this mad in a long time, possibly years. I fucking hate hate hate hate it. It's like anyone I play always has the perfect deck or luck streak to make it impossible for me to have even the slightest bit of success.

So I don't believe Hearthstone actually exists anymore, the whole thing is clearly just a giant plot to make me feel excluded.

Send me a key already Blizzard

This is what I'm talking about when I complain about the rewards for going 9 wins.

9-2 paladin. No removal or weapons, just tons of divine shields and creatures that buff everyone else in someway.

Notice my poor gold amount, :(

Playing against rogues makes me want to murder every human being on planet earth including myself.

Hey maybe tomorrow there will be new key waves because they talked about not doing anything over the weekend.

Who else can't be more excited to look at his empty mail program tomorrow?

:((((((

I just need to wait two more days for Hex. Ironically, that's probably when I'll get a HS beta key, after wanting one for so long.

Currently feeling this way about Priest. Heal everything and clear the board so the game drags on until all the cards have been drawn while mind controlling anything good you play.

Is it alright to offer to sell beta access in this thread or is that frowned upon? I posted in the B/S/T thread but this would obviously be where people would be interested. If not okay I'll edit this post.

I'd just rather someone got it from GAF instead of a random person on eBay if there's someone looking to buy a code.

The assumption seems to be that Open Beta will happen between now and then.

Got a Deathwing in one of the first packs I've opened, hah, he seems cool, if really situational. Still, for that kind of lulz, definitely goes into the deck.

Might be better incentive if they told us what the card actually was.

It's the same principle as a "Season Pass" for DLC.. I don't spend money without knowing what I'm spending it on. Without seeing a complete, detailed list of what that Season Pass (or "mystery minion") contains, you're not getting a penny.

Only Hex King backers will get in the first wave I believe.

...or is it random and my squire tier can get in ?

It's Producers to Grand Kings that will get in on October 8th - CZE plans to let backers in a couple of days between each initial wave. And yes, Squire tier does get in alpha, eventually.

Champion tier here. My heart dropped when I read that part in the update. I was so hyped for October 8th. :(

I thought it was going to be Producers to Dragon Lords, but luckily Grand Kings were included. So, I should be getting in on October 8th assuming it's not delayed, but it sounds like nearly everyone (besides slacker backers possibly) should be in by the end of October at the very least. That is, assuming alpha goes relatively well and is relatively stable.

Regardless, I'm excited to be able to play at least one good digital card game soon!

Yeah, I'm not sure what they were thinking with these rewards. Most people getting to 9 wins don't even care about 1 pack, let alone 2.

watched an arena video. its just random draft? whats with games shying away from booster draft recently? Booster draft is like random draft with the added complexity of the table. best draft mode

Arena is pretty much draft without the social aspect in creating the deck. It's the computer that gives you the random card selection. I do agree though, if a digital TCG actually implements actual drafting than it'll be even more popular than Arena. Unfortunately, I don't think HS is meant to be a social game so an actual draft mode is unlikely.

Finally got a 9 win run in arena. Mage with only 3 spells (1x counterspell, 1x sheep, 1x frostbolt).

The most satisfying win was putting down a sunwalker + counterspell against a priest. Sure enough he went for the mind control and couldn't do anything to stop his demise on turn 10.

I am curious to see how Hex turns out, but I am also not going to invest 50 bucks just to get in.

If you were a nice GAFer you would just give it away.

The whole selling of beta invites shows how Blizzard is leaving money on the table.

Make it so that anyone who buys 50 or 100$+ amount of stuff get's beta access

they could just sell beta keys for 40$

kinda like kickstarter hey

The DOTA2 buy in was 30 I think and you got a couple of items. They could do the same thing here and kill the ebay market. Sell beta access for 30 and throw in 2-5 packs.

i got an email on friday and got it, played it for hours yesterday, this game is god tier, i use to love magic the gathering and pokemon cards when i was really young and this is just as good

amazing presentation, music, sound as a game artist i appreciate the love this game has received

just finished unlocking all the characters and got mage to level 10

love that you can unlock characters by beating them in real games

Well, at least there won't be any more wipes so his purchase is slightly more justified. Slightly.

I've almost considered it myself. Would've probably dropped the cash if I didn't get sucked back into WoW. I think it's ridiculous that the closed beta has been going on for almost two months now... it must be an issue with server capacity for opening it up to everyone. Game has been mostly balanced since day 1.

It's because there is real money involved.

Blizz needs to be 110% sure its payment infrastructure is in place and totally buttoned up, because they can't just do a rollback or wipe when people have opened golden legendaries in packs they paid real $ for.

There needs to be NO chance players will lose what they paid for, so if the system does get overloaded it has to degrade gracefully, probably not letting people in at all if there is a chance the cloud might not save their result.

It also needs to be secure from Blizz's end. Preventing things like users hacking the game client to try and trick Blizz into thinking they have cards are unopened packs they don't actually have.`

For a Beta Key of a Free to Play game ;)

But seriously, if he can afford it and is enjoying it I say why not, good for him.
When beta started maybe(not really), but Blizzard are sending multiple keys every week now.

You'd have to be crazy impatient, and he could've spent that money toward buying cards from Blizzard instead of a greedy key guy.

I just got an invite for some reason ... I didn't sign up for this?

In the interest of full disclosure, keep in mind you can sell them on Ebay for big money right now.

Its ironic because you got in and all of us that desperately want in are still waiting.

I noticed that when you initially opt-in for Blizzard beta tests, every potential beta is initially selected. That may have happened to you.
