Adding a mechanic to counter direct damage Spells would be really nice.
Spelltaunt, Counterspell Minion or something like that.
It is just so sad to turn a game around through clever trades and moves, but in the end it all means nothing, because the opponent can just topdeck a DD and ignore your whole board.

More (non garbage) Healing Minions would also help.

They should really look at the gold gains in play mode, 10g for 3 wins feels like a slap in the face. 10g per each win feels a lot more rational imo or alternatively keep it at 10g for 3 wins in unranked and 10g per win for ranked to give some incentive to play ranked games for other gains except just for e-peen enlargement ( unless I'm missing something here ofcourse, still new to the game ).

It used to be worst. Before the big adjustment 5 gold was awarded for every 5 games won.

You just need to play longer than a week. Blizzard wants to make money yet they allow you to get stuff for free if you are reasonably skilled at the game. This is the best you are going to get unless you want to pay like a regular card game.

The dailies help smooth everything out if you have a run of bad luck. I usually play one arena run every day or 2. Pick the hero from the daily. I pretty much break even or make a few hundred gold per run.

The game really need an expansion soon though.

Finally get into the beta and the first free card pack I get gives me these:

Thank you RNG gods.

Nice, I'm still looking forward to running a 9-point damage, power overwhelming + Sylvanas Windrunner into my opponent while also taking their creature away from them, perhaps even playing that guy that sucks the neighboring creatures attack / health for a +9/+9 buff on top, seems suited best to warlocks more than any other class.

I have like 800 gold in reserve, I don't play enough to use it all lol. I generally do the dailies first if there's 2 or more, otherwise play arena a few times. If I only have 1 daily and won two matches in arena, I generally just don't play until the next day, so sometimes an arena run takes me 3 or 4 days to get through, in the mean time I've made 100+ gold on dailies, plus the return on the arena when I finally clear it out, so I rarely ever see a drop in my gold.

On the downside, when I'm doing my dailies, I only play ranked since unranked is still actually ranked, so what's the difference, other than unranked being worse in my experience, and if I get to a daily where my deck for the class is just way outclassed by my opponent twice, I scrap the whole deck and that class has a big X over it and reminds me I can't play it again until I rebuild it. Seems to work pretty well.

I've been doing the exact same thing. I dipped down to around 800 gold after getting a lot of play time over the holiday weekend but got right back up to close to 1100 after and 8 win arena run and a bunch of dailies. I've been in my current Arena for three days now and always make sure to clear out one quest so I have room for the next day.

I was getting a bit frustrated with the current meta until I started thinking outside the box and how to beat it. I'm trying more control decks and it's very satisfying when I win. I've also been focusing on building Arena decks around the stronger early cards rather than overall strong cards that might not fit into my deck.

She does well with Shadowflame as well. Thing is, Shadowflame is just soooo bad. In theory it's a decent card, but it's way too slow and often just occupies a card slot and hangs around in the hand being useless. Even Hellfire seems to be better. You can use that least to kill off the opponent and it works on its own.

Anyway, congratulations on your first booster. Sylvannas is one of the few S-Tier legendary cards. I'm sittin around 1k dust. 600 more until I can craft one of my own. Dunno if Jaraxxus or Sylvannas tho. I'm leaning towards the first, since my deck lacks late game pew pew.

I have openly complained about Deathwing in arena being almost impossible to deal with. So I get a Deathwing for my latest arena run and spend most of the time fretting that it is the wrong card to play and thinking it is too situational to be terribly useful. I am a bad person.

Well I feel like an idiot. I always assumed arena runs needed to be done in a single sit down. I have retired two sessions at 3-1, 3-0 because of this assumption...

At least I got a Ysera on one of the packs from the retired runs :(

You don't even have to draft all 30 cards in your arena deck in one session or pick your class either, you can pay the entry, see the class choices and back out til the next day or so, though they stay the same.

Bah !

Sidenote: Game is much more fun when you have a better understanding of cards and what an opponent can and can`t do, within reason of course.

And there's actually server side protection.

Battlenet went down when i was drafting cards and next day when i opened HS i had same 3 cards to choose from.

It's really nice once you get to the point to where you just need to see the artwork (or even just hear the sound effect) and you instantly know the stats and abilities of the card :)

Yeah. I've been getting pretty zen about the game too. I'll log in, play a few games, then sign out. Like most F2P games I don't think this is the type of game where I could play nonstop. Even when doing an arena run I'll leave it off after a while and come back to it later.

I had about 1100 gold at one point, I am down to about 100 now but I'm sure I'll get it up there again.

Curses Minsc!

I had rag, MC, silencer and one other card in my hand. That game was unbelievably close.

Haha, I felt my time was running out with each passing turn, down to the point I couldn't afford to draw cards with health, barely got my finishing combo out in time. Wishing earlier to get a chance to put a power overwhelming (or two) on my Sylvanas Windrunner and steal a creature with it paid off!

I had my News and Special Offers from Blizzard Entertainment unchecked on the profile settings on battle.net. Does anyone know if that would stop me from getting a beta invite?

Absolutely dominated the board with my barely above starter mage deck. God it felt amazing, always fireballed his 1/1 summoned minion. He placed blessing of Wisdom on my Spell damage minion, so I simply never attacked with him (Wasn't planning on it anyways). Just constantly kept killing off or freezing minions he dropped onto the board. At one point he was able to put a Shattered Clerics, a Boulderfist Orge, Frostwolf Warlord and one of his 1/1 minions. Flamestrike them and picked off the ones with 1 or 2 life with my minions. And kept my water elemental on him so he couldn't attack me directly.

We just hit round 10.

And this is the exact reason people hate mages. :P

So, how often should I be using my hero powers? I have been mostly playing shaman (was my main when I played WoW), and only seem to really use the hero ability when I have nothing else to play (or nothing that makes sense).

Shamans can be played several different ways. You can run with a very low mana deck and play totems on every turn that you can, and depend on buffing them with Bloodlust for burst damage. I love seeing the panic when as soon as I get hit with the Flamestrike, I immediately repopulate the board better than it was before.

Also. I got myself a golden Grommash Hellscream. I honestly don't know if I want to keep him; using him with Inner Rage for a 12 damage charge is great, but the Warrior deck is just not that good.

I think grom is okay. But if you don't play warrior I'd DE him if I were you. Since I could then pick a legendary that fits the decks I do play.

---

Just grinded out 2 wins in a row as mage. I wanted to clear a spot for a new quest and somehow managed to do it in only 15 minutes.

Warrior is my highest level deck, but it just doesn't seem that competitive. Maybe I need to rethink how I put my deck together. Anyone seen a great Warrior deck that I could model after? I have some extra dust to make some rare cards, and I have Alexstrasza as well.

Warrior decks are fantastic but they are difficult to build.

After I finish my priest it will be my second deck.

There is a warrior deck built by the winner of the hearthstone nationals in the News section. Check it out.

I think the ironbarks are coming off the druid deck. I seem to die to my own ironbarks or they're immediately killed via a spell (and always cost-effectively). Even after trying to set up situations vs mind control where I can kill my own ironbark should it ever get mind controlled, it dawned on me that I'm spending atleast 2 cards and more mana to beat a single 8 card for no reason.

Don't use Ironbark, it's really not worth it.

Stick to >=5 cost cards unless it provides immediate benefit.

Is that the Artosis deck?

I dunno I think Warriors are alright, they have one of the best board clearing cards in the game (Brawl). They just need one decent mid range minion I think.

or another hero power :3

Last game of my last Arena run the hero power saved this Warrior. Was one damage from lethal with a Fireball, but I couldn't get it that turn and didn't top deck anything that let me take him down. My board was otherwise clear at that point. And of course this is late so he could armor up every turn and I couldn't break that with Fireblast. Was really heartbreaking.

But yeah, I agree it's weak compared to Priest.

Priest Hero power needs to switch to minion only.

Yep.

I've had good success with ironbark in my druid deck. I'd use them vs priests but I don't have big game hunters, which coincidentally drop a 4/2 which is strong against priests. I generally wait til much later vs priests, using them as a finisher vs them than anything else.

They're a very nice card to pull very late game.

So much pluuuuuuuuuuuuus. Every time I get Warlock for arena it's 7+ wins at minimum it seems. Dat hero power <3

edit: Baron Geddon and Patient Assasin in one pack <3 After I DE both I'll be close to 1.6k dust omg omg omg

interesting idea, I wonder how bad that would nerf them though

Hefty nerf but would put them more in line with other hero powers. Otherwise just nerf it to 1 heal, or make it 2 on minions 1 on hero or something.

I don't even think the hero power is that much of a problem. I think Priest's problem cards are Shadow Word Death (not so much) / Pain (big offender), Shadow Madness (big offender) and Cabal Shadow Priest (not so much). Could use some mana cost tweaking or altered effects imo.
