Yep, it's so terrible that they won't spend $300 for one game.
With all the Wii U library already available, if a person only likes Bayonetta 2, I can say with ease that this one person have a really limited range of tastes.
Yep, it's so terrible that they won't spend $300 for one game.
well i'm talking World wide sales, which is what matters/ i bet you anything bayonetta 2 will never reach 400k sales world wide.
Publishers are actually pretty fucking bad at discovering new successes, to say the least. This is why they rely on heavy marketing, high production value (thus "accidentally" increasing the barriers of entry) and a controlled press to sell their new franchises. In other words: they try to control the market. This idiocy created a situation in which, despite better development tools and more hardware power, you have to sell a million copies of a game to break even and all local flavour and niches start to disappear, because only wide appeal stuff can sell so much. This is why new gens will never reach the greatness of PS2 gen (except for the low cost stuff maybe, but that's also not without its problems) and why Nintendo's lower cost hardware strategy could have helped third party developers if they weren't complete morons. And there exist people ("gamers") that actually want everyone to conform to this. So awesome.
Most publishers don't fund anything that their idiot corporate-think managers believe is in any way risky. This didn't exactly result in a more diverse and competitive market, just the opposite.
I don't think that's really true, maybe it is, and obviously art's subjective, so I could say Minecraft and LoL, the two biggest games in the world, both look like complete shit, but anyone could say that's not the case.art/graphics is a huge factor in game sales. i can't think of any other reason why it would bomb so bad that it can't even get a sequel, and no publisher would fund it for multiple consoles, except nintendo.
Not specifically at you, but you can just leave, this is a done deal, why keep moaning about it?Really now? Perhaps people don't enjoy Nintendo IPs. Perhaps people do enjoy Uncharteds, Last of Us, GTs, Demon Soul type games, etc. Perhaps people enjoy Halo's, Killer Instinct, Forza, etc. Not everyone enjoy's Nintendo IPs like Zelda, Mario, Pokemon.
Because naturally that will be the only good game on the console during it's lifetime.Yep, it's so terrible that they won't spend $300 for one game.
Yep, it's so terrible that they won't spend $300 for one game.
personally thought lastgen had the most quality games, the only game i remember being amazing in the ps2 gen were DMC1 and 3, MGS2, ninja gaiden black, halo, GT3, riddick and resident evil 4.
Yep, it's so terrible that they won't spend $300 for one game.
I really want to play Bloodborne, but I won't be getting it on release as there are not enough games on the platform yet that interest me. And that's fine with me.
Here i though people will give it a rest, but two years later they still bitch about it.
Not specifically at you, but you can just leave, this is a done deal, why keep moaning about it?
Get angry at the superior PS4 and Xbone makers for not funding it, not Kamiya.
Is this comment realart/graphics is a huge factor in game sales. i can't think of any other reason why it would bomb so bad that it can't even get a sequel, and no publisher would fund it for multiple consoles, except nintendo.
It's irrelevant. If someone only wants Bayo 2, that's fine. Just because some people rate DKC or MK highly, doesn't mean anyone who doesn't is wrong.Because naturally that will be the only good game on the console during it's lifetime.
Yep. this is what I meant.I think Sify64's point was that people constantly complain about not being able to play the game, instead of just moving on and accepting it.
I really want to play Bloodborne, but I won't be getting it on release as there are not enough games on the platform yet that interest me. And that's fine with me.
Why is it Kamiya actually? It's always him, but he's not even on the project.I hate that Kamiya has to keep explaining/justifying Bayonetta 2's existence on Wii U and the backstory. The gaming community can be pretty fucking annoying sometimes.
Why is it Kamiya actually? It's always him, but he's not even on the project.
Why is it Kamiya actually? It's always him, but he's not even on the project.
He's writing the script, and overseeing the whole development. But it's mainly because he's just the most recognizable name at Platinum. I know he's gotten really annoyed in the past at people asking him things about MGR, Anarchy Reigns, and even old Clover games like God Hand that he wasn't involved with.
I simply think it's preposterous to take issue with people who can't justify spending $300 for one title.
Is it preposterous to take issue with people saying they would rather the game was never made than to be on the WiiU?

There is no issue if you can't afford or justify the cost, but then why do most of these same poeple continue to complain? The situation is set in stone, so just stick by your choice and move on already.I know you said it's not directed at me but I have a Wii U. I'm not angry at Kamiya or Nintendo. Yep.
Yes because this is what it sounds like to everyone else.
"IF I CAN'T HAVE THE THING I WANT THEN NO ONE CAN"
Cool huh?

Yep.
Let me get this straight:
Preferring a game to not exist than come out on a platform you own = Perfectly fine and above reproach.
Preferring people stop complaining about a game coming out on a system they don't own = Unreasonable.
Are you serious?
I don't think so. The game/franchise(?) was dead, finished and going nowhere. Nintendo breathes life into the situation and potentially exposes Bayonetta to those who might not have played it otherwise. Personally I'm happy the series lives, even as sales falter because I'd rather a quality entry in the Bayoverse than no Bayo at all. Multiple publishers passing up Bayo sounds indicative of either too many action games in a given place, trends, or maybe the title just not being popular enough in general to gamble on. So really...even if I didn't own a WiiU I'd be applauding Nintendo for having the balls, and wallet, to fund a game they probably knew was too niche to make an impact but would give a little more breadth to their portfolio. Is it preposterous to take issue with people saying they would rather the game was never made than to be on the WiiU?
That person had been trolling Bayo threads hard lately, pay them no mind.
Pay none of these people any mind.

Holding the belief "If I can't have it then nobody should have it" is the preposterous argument here.
EDIT:
That is LITERALLY WHAT PEOPLE IN THIS TOPIC ARE SAYING
Let me get this straight:

Ok, nevermind. I think you might be a touch crazy.
Dude, this is too funny to ignore! Someone, somewhere is going to write a fascinating psychological study on what Bayonetta 2 did to people someday.
The bitching has gone on for two years... Ignoring it isn't work, as shown by Platinum Games. While 'If I can't have it, no one should' is beyond moronic, so is bitching about the bitching.
Discussion of publishing arrangements, and platform selection for a game is interesting. Throwing shit at each other is not.
And we're two months away from no one talking about the game at all, so it's going to be a non-issue.The bitching has gone on for two years... Ignoring it isn't work, as shown by Platinum Games.

Yeah, but unfortunately the OT and review thread will likely be a derailing mess. And we're two months away from no one talking about the game at all, so it's going to be a non-issue.
I just re-remembered that "I want to punch a dolphin in it's vagina" tweet.
I'd read the shit out of an actual study on the subject.
I said two months, dust on sales will have settled by then.I think you're kidding yourself if you think Bayonetta 2 sales numbers aren't going to be discussed.

You know, you make some valid points, and some i can't agree with, but it's ok.
But i have this thing stuck on my head, and i have to ask you.
Why are you here?
Are you here as a passer-by who just stopped to take a look at the accident scene? And if yes, does it make you feel better? Because obviously as you said you don't care about Bayonetta.
While 'If I can't have it, no one should' is beyond moronic, so is bitching about the bitching.

We don't get October NPDs until December? That seems strange. I never click on those threads, so I don't know, I just presumed we got them at the end of the month, sorry. But still, okay, so three months. After two years, that's not bad.We won't get NPD sales data until December - in 2 months speculative sales discussion will be at its peak.
I just wanna say that you guys spend too much time with the crazies though, and my therapist says it's not healthy.
Do the right thing and let this thread die like all the other toxic Bayonetta 2 threads.
I swear, no other console exclusive has ever achieved a mess of this magnitude before. PG should take their place in gaming history just for this.
StuBurns answered this for me:
So the thing is, I think the vocal contingent that bellyached about Bayo 2's Wii U-only status at the outset were a bunch of naff idiots. That said, the sentiment seemed to disperse in the general gaming discussion fairly quickly. What was LEFT was indignant Wii U fans who basically couldn't seem to get over the bad behaviour on the first party's part. I think a lot of this has to do with natural interest, the things you click; whenever Kamiya has to field a dumb tweet (which is common) it is held aloft like this nasty trophy, passed around, "SEE?! dat SALT" and the cycle repeats. It's because some of you follow Bayo 2 so closely that this seems more prevalent, is my guess. To put it bluntly, I see 10x as much meta-bitching about "stealth port begging" than I see actual port begging at this point. It's toxic behaviour.
If you have a Wii U, you WON, you get Bayo 2. Who cares what shrill fanboys think? Don't become the monster you would fight![]()
