Hori FPS Pad Plus for PS4/PS3 review.

My god those Shoulder and Trigger buttons look like shit!

Now that I own it, I can say they feel kinda crap compared to the DS4.

I'm going to use this thing for a few months and then go back and forth with the regular DS4 to see which I prefer. Right now, I'm more accurate in destiny with the regular DS4.

Just use this...

Dunno if anyone still checks this thread but I got a second Hori Pad controller for PS4 and what I thought was a defect seems to be an actual flaw of the controller.

The L2 / R2 buttons are very pressure sensitive. I've done several tests in games where you need to hold L2 to aim or R2 to drive. If you don't push hard enough, the game stops aiming or the car you're driving slows down.

Now, I'm not trying to badmouth this controller. I love everything about it except for this issue. Considering I can't find much about this problem, I'm going to assume other people press it harder than me. But I have found that I can actually make the L2/R2 buttons "click" without the game registering it. If you use just enough pressure to make the click feel, but not enough force to press the button at your hardest, it will not register the press. I've tried this with both controllers.

My issue is in games where you need to hold L2/R2 a lot (aiming in FPS games and driving in race games) this controller is basically useless to me. I think it's because I subconsciously use less pressure after a while. This isn't an issue with the original DS4 controller because it register the button press much sooner than the Hori Pad does. I feel like I really have to keep pressing the Hori Pad L2/R2 hard for it to stay working.

This flaw isn't as noticeable if you just have to click L2 or R2, but once you need to hold the buttons, it starts to show.

If Hori managed to fix/improve this, it would be a perfect controller for me.

Ewww, you use that circular shit for the dpad?

0/10 Waste of Elite controller,

On the Cronus, now it's an option because it does not reset every 10 minutes. Still really expensive compared to the Hori though.

Yes, most do and its one of the best dpads ive ever used

Thanks for the review. I usually stay away from 3rd-party controllers because of bad experiences with dead zones and such. But I apparently hold my DS4 to hard or whatever since the left analog suddenly sticks and shoulder buttons stops responding. Very annoying. A hit fixes it temporarily. Bought a new DS4, same problem.
So, again, thanks! I'm going for this.

I sadly stopped using this controller a few months back due to the same R2 issues as everyone else. I've suddenly got to press it really hard, or I get nothing out of it.

It's great while it works, though!

I love this controller. I'm not the best, but I totally dominated a lot of matches in Destiny thanks to the target-button. My friend called it a cheat-button lol. I've only had it for a few weeks so I'm hoping for at least six months or so before the R2 gives in. Hoping it never will, of course.
