Horizon Zero Dawn - Gameplay Trailer | PS4 Pro 4K

My mind is going crazy that we have yet to see night gameplay. Can you imagine that Thunder Jaw chasing you at night. I hope they make it intense and scary.

Horizon is confirmed to have Supersampling if playing at 1080p with a Pro.

It's a relatively safe assumption that a lot of other games might employ the same method. Some games will also give you the option to choose whether you want more effects or more FPS so it's not a universal method applied to every game.

At this point though, I would not recommend buying a Pro based on the assumption that most games will use Supersampling. Wait for more information.

h264 re-encode at crf18 (bloats the size but is lossless (not more than already is lost by Youtube's re-encode to VP9))

I think this is the best way for people to experience the highest quality footage available yet in real-time.


Yeah the 4k60 on YouTube is encoded using VP9 (Google) but that doesn't have hardware decoding in most consumer devices, which why it uses software decoding which at 4k and 60 FPS needs a lot of CPU performance. When it's choppy then you don't have enough. (I don't either.)

So I downloaded the other videos on gamersyde, not near the quality as this horizon 4k video.

this video just hyped me even more for PS4 Pro. please tell me where i can get more videos like this.

The ones claiming all the footage previously shown was not on the base ps4? Or is this the same fidelity as before? I cant tell coz dont have 4k display.
 
Just downloaded and watched the 4k feed and that's pretty !

The low quality rope and how she used it is weird, but the cave in the rocks made up for it. I instantly wanted to jump from the dino and go look inside.
In the end, that's a world I want to explore.
 
Watched in 1080p and it still looks fucking amazing.

There will be some differences in foliage, draw distance between Pro and vanilla PS4 but I think I'll be perfectly ok playing it on the latter.
This game is a stunner no matter which way you slice it.
 
 
Even on my old laptop monitor which is sub 1080P, it looks noticeably crisp and great.

The only problem I have with the visuals is that some of the animations look stiff (her walking animation in the beginning). Otherwise, this is a visual masterpiece.
 
It's a funny situation when watching 4K videos on a 1080p display! I wish I had a 4K display for these trailers.

As I wrote earlier I took the highest available bitrate video and reencoded it as losslessly as I could.

The source is YouTube, which is still heavily compressed. I only reencoded it because a lot of people can't play 4k60 videos encoded with VP9 in real-time because consumer hardware doesn't have VP9 hardware accelerated decoding built in.

The source is a 580MB file that I only bloated up to 1.2GB because I didn't want to lose additional details in the re-encode. It's not actually a 1.2GB file produced from the direct capture, which is what people really want.
 
I just saw "4K" screenshots and honestly, game doesn't even look that good. I don't know if it's just me but it's so visible that it's not native 4K. Game looks good, really good. But on 5 new screenshots they released... i just don't see why are some ppl falling on their asses over this.

IQ is far from amazing. And i can say the same thing for ROTTR. That game in 4K on PC looks just so much better and cleaner.

Oh you're trying to ascertain image quality from an at best 576MB 4k60 video. Well that surely isn't going to be a fruitful avenue.

I think it's just you. The game looks spectacular.
 
The rope slide at the start with bare hands was a bit strange, she must have metallic palms.

Game looks amazing. Day 1 for me on peasant PS4.
 
Didn't notice how good her costume looked when I was watching the stream, my favorite one they've shown so far. Any word on how customizable they'll be? Like if we'll be able to dye them different colours or just go full "fashion souls" and be able to mix and match with different sets?

Probably just an animation bug with the bow or rappel hook she's supposed to use.

From leather to scale, I'm won't be surprise if she go full mecha/exo suit at the end of the game.

Those trees could be at least 54.2% more dense imo, GG is slacking.
 
I downloaded the direct feed to my mobile. It looks really good. And I mean really good. The IQ was better than I've seen on a console game. Would playing a 4k video on a 1080p screen have some sort of downsampling effect to make it look cleaner?
 
That lossless video is stunning.
I was sold on Neo before the conference, left disappointed by the lack of support/confirmed patches during the unveiling and now Horizon is reselling me the idea of owning a Pro.
