Horizon Zero Dawn - Gameplay Trailer | PS4 Pro 4K

I'm uploading the highest quality available footage (YT VP9 40k60) but reencoded (as close to lossless as is reasonable) to h264 so people can play it back in real time using regular consumer hardware.

This is just for videophiles that need this now. 10 minutes or so.

Is that why 4k 60FPS videos play at slow motion or barely at all for me? Thanks for the work and upload, btw!

You know, I believe this is my most anticipated game for 2017. I really hope the big G nails ever aspect of it.

Looks great. Hope the PS4 regular version is up to snuff.
The thing that got to me was that she slid down that long as zipline/rope with her bare hands! Its hardly a super realistic game but still, at least make her use a piece of metal or something!
Lol, yeah. Needs to use her bow, shit would hurt.

I consider TR:DF close enough to that target, and I expect this to be the same way. Locked 60FPS is a pipedream even in 99.9% games that flat out claim to be 60FPS, so being pedantic about that is a bit pointless IMO.

In case of new TR, the game is 30FPS, (probably with drops) on PS4, and 45-60FPS on PS4P. That's a significant performance improvement on its own, and we don't know if that also includes visual upgrades of some kind too.
TR is a linear game that can't hit a consistent 60fps. Horizon Zero Dawn is a huge open world game. 60fps is a pipe dream for neo ports of new games.

Remember that this is the 4K checkerboard rendering mode for super high resolutions, so its eating up most of the GPU power of the console just to render the higher resolution and the base game. So what will the game look like on the condensed 1080p mode with higher fidelity assets!? That's the one i want to see

Agreed. I also really wanna know if the 1080p mode will have better IQ over the 4K version due to the downsampling... w/o taking the actual resolution into consideration of course.

mkv container (use vlc or mplayer and such)
h264 re-encode at crf18 (bloats the size but is lossless (not more than already is lost by Youtube's re-encode to VP9))

I think this is the best way for people to experience the highest quality footage available yet in real-time.

Yeah the 4k60 on YouTube is encoded using VP9 (Google) but that doesn't have hardware decoding in most consumer devices, which why it uses software decoding which at 4k and 60 FPS needs a lot of CPU performance. When it's choppy then you don't have enough. (I don't either.)

I mean it looks beautiful, but so does the regular version?... It's ultimately not really selling me on this console. I think they would have been better suited showed a before and after clip of an area we have seen already before.

the differences would likely not have been huge when watching from home on a stream either way.

It's standard for any game that has a 4k mode to have supersampling on a 1080p display on the PS4 Pro

I didn't realize this was across all games and thought it was something the developers had to implement themselves. Damn I was going to wait to pick up a PS4 Pro but I may have to get one before Horizon comes out. I'd want Super Sampling even more than 4K as I don't have a 4K set yet and most likely won't till the Holidays of next year.

Watched this in 4k and DAMNNNN. I think Sony needs to get updated demo units out to stores ASAP because watching this stuff in a 720p twitch stream doesn't do it justice.

So it just looks like this is just a resolution bump. No new shaders or geometry. I wish they added more geometry to the hair because it animates like it is a mop with the lack of geometry. Really what's the point. With the increased resolution, it is easy to see some nasty clipping and the LOD popup is even more jarring.

Still, the actual game looks sublime. Didn't sell me on a PS4 Pro though.

It sold me. This looks MUCH better than the current PS4 version and need my Sony exclusives in the best form possible (which is the only reason I am buying this thing).

Ah, okay! Thanks for the explanation and upload :D

The very short Spiderman preview also looked stunning as well. I can't wait to go web slinging through NYC on a PS4 Pro... I can't wait for that game in general though.

So this wont be 60 fps on ps4pro ?

Probably not, or they would have said something about it, unless Sony has a gag order, to not upset regular PS4 owners, but the former seems way more likely.

edit: or they just aren't ready to commit to anything like that yet I guess, just remember they caused a bit of a mess with Shadowfall, by saying it'll be 1080p 60fps.

Do you honestly not see the benefit of the enhanced visuals? If that is lost on you- than this machine isn't for you.

Supersampling for Horizon? For any game with 4k?

YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!

I can't wait to see Horizon with that level of image quality.

O_O

I doubt that any footage we've seen has been from a build running on a standard PS4 so it's hard to judge performance and graphical differences. Probably won't know for sure until the game is released.

What? This game is running on standard PS4s since E3. At BGS in Brazil GAF users actually played the thing on a standard PS4.

I agree, watched this and the E3 2016 footage back to back and the differences in IQ and fidelity are definitely noticeable to me.
