Horizon Zero Dawn - Gameplay Trailer | PS4 Pro 4K

Well, I went ahead and pre-ordered. Now I have to wait 173 days. For Uncharted 4 it was over 200 days.

No problem!

Man, the stream completely ruined this footage.

Yup.

Knew this would happen, the stream wasn't even in 4K let alone HDR, not to mention youtube compression on top of that. We'll need direct feed downloads to truly see how good this looks and this is already way better thanks to being 4k youtube.

No way... it looks too good to be real. I cant believe it. Guerrila doing some vodoo shit.

Animation-wise too, that Watcher melee take down animation they debuted at E3 that's in here again is still glorious as hell.

It's nice how crisp and aliasing-free the string on Aloy's bow stays, just before sliding down the zip line at the start for example.

If you don't have Chrome or another compatible browser, you can download the VP9 format video from YouTube with 4K video downloader and play the downloaded mkv in VLC.

I think the animation is a little jarring. I never said I liked the animation.

We aren't talking about animations...

...unless you were just talking to yourself.
I and others were referring to the animation. No idea what you were supposed to be referring to but keep up.
We'll get 60FPS games (that otherwise would be 30 on regular PS4) - only in 1080p. New Tomb Raider is as example of this.
No we won't.

This is maybe the most visually stunning "big" game I have ever seen. I mean big as in a game that is creating an immersive 3D game world. Lots of smaller games have knocked my socks off with their artistic vision, but I have never seen a AAA game with an expansive game world that looks this incredible in an artistic AND technical fashion. That's not even touching on the animation.

Time to save for a PS4 Pro :/ Wallet am cry.

This game looks dope. Shadowfall looked good as well for a launch title. Even what GG managed to pull off on Vita was amazing.

Eh, it doesn't seem like your issue is actually with the animation though, which is why the posters replying to you weren't really talking about animations. From reading your previous posts, your issue seems to be with Aloy sliding down the rope with bare hands/without a tool or something, which you said, like the bright colored climbing indicators, is too gamey (fair criticism). That's why Nathan's unrealistic/gamey actions in Uncharted were brought up.

Remember that this is the 4K checkerboard rendering mode for super high resolutions, so its eating up most of the GPU power of the console just to render the higher resolution and the base game. So what will the game look like on the condensed 1080p mode with higher fidelity assets!? That's the one i want to see

I found a blooper, hahahahaha.

Look at the birds in the VERY LAST SHOT. Look at what they are flying into.

Also,
that hair needs to be toned down. Come on guys. I get your impressed with the hair tech, but it is way too much.

How does it look?

I'm sorry i just downloaded it, turned off the pc and went to bed. It's 4:30 here lol

It's just the Wind that it's stronger here , the hair will not always fly everywhere like that, just look at other footage.

Guessing that'll be supersampled with the same effects.

Holy Christ this looks unbelievably good on my Vizio 4K TV. Absolutely pristine IQ.
PS4 Pro is so bought.

That stream was not the right way to distribute content of this quality.

The image quality jump is huge and there are still visual improvements on top of that.

Hoping we get the CoD footage soon. That looked like the biggest leap shown over the standard PS4 version.

Alright so that walking-Ubisoft Tower she climbed was ENORMOUS. Loving the sense of scale in this game. I'm hoping you can mount some of the larger machines, maybe even fly the pterodactyl one?

No way do I believe for a split second that the PS4 Pro is running that game, as presented, at 4K native resolution though.
I would say "It looks like it might be native" but then I remeber youtube encoding, so I guess the softening of the frames might be covering up some type of upscaling/reconstruction.

Still seems far fetched to me. It's like you're telling me I could run Crysis 3 at 4K on a 1060.
It's not native 4K, but I bet the game will look exactly this good when released on PS4Pro. A lot of people hear about checkerboard rendering and reconstruction, and imagine what that can do to image quality in current games. There can be a notable "blurriness" or a "smudgy" look to things sometimes in, say, Shadow Fall multiplayer, or Quantum Break, or R6 Siege. The results aren't pristine.

And they're still not pristine here. You can see telltale signs of the reconstruction, especially in stills. But when you're going from something like 1800p to 2160p, it's not like 900p to 1080p (even though the relative gap is the same). The final pixels are smaller--at typical viewing distances--so the imperfections tend to fade from attention.

Well, to play the devil's advocate here, what else could they do? Also, PS4 Pro is for users who are really into IQ. People like you and me, or this thread in general, for sure are knowledgeable about checking out the trailer again using the proper media.

Do we have any indications as to what Horizon Dawn will be doing for 1080p TV owners?

Is it safe to assume essentially this but downscaled?

Because I cannot fucking handle that idea. I'm so damn ready!

The results may not be pristine here but they are certainly better than previously seen technique. Should look really good in motion at standard distances from the TV.

Yeah, that's a good point. Hopefully they get some good demo videos set up in stores to sell this.

We can't even see the HDR benefits yet LOL

I totally agree that the results look great! They give the impression of perfect solidity at decent range. I was just pointing out to Lister that the presence of artifacts when you look very closely--closer than you ever would during play--shows the presence of (very effective) shortcuts.

In other words, there's no need to suspect this is impossible on PS4Pro, and Sony has lied to us with unrealistic PC footage.

I really really like the idea of the radar head dino being a WRPG "tower".

Of all the WRPGs I've seen, this seems to finally try and handle encounter design in a meaningful way.

Eh, even the TR devs say 45~60fps.

Maybe some games will get close to that target. I imagine a 60fps target is out of the question for any sort of open world title.

No we won't.
I consider TR:DF close enough to that target, and I expect this to be the same way. Locked 60FPS is a pipedream even in 99.9% games that flat out claim to be 60FPS, so being pedantic about that is a bit pointless IMO.

In case of new TR, the game is 30FPS, (probably with drops) on PS4, and 45-60FPS on PS4P. That's a significant performance improvement on its own, and we don't know if that also includes visual upgrades of some kind too.

Not really I interested in PS4Pro but I watched this in 4K HDR on my new tv..and cot dam this game is jaw dropping.

According to Venom Fox in this thread, PS4 Pro will get super sampling for 1080p users.
