Well there's The Walking Dead.
Not much for horror TV shows these days....is there even an anthology show making new episodes? Loved "Masters of Horror" and "Tales From The Crypt" obviously.

Not really a tv show but.. I watched a damn good documentary on the NOES franchise and how it came about and whatnot. Pretty interesting if you're into that kinda thing.

Dude, the old Tales from the crypt, Vault of horror, and Haunt of fear books are all pure fucking gold. I bought a bunch of collections maybe a decade ago but have since lost track of them, sadly.
Any price you pay is worth it. Does anyone know where I can buy these digitally? Is that a thing? I'm not a comics guy.
Man, my kids would eat those comics up! I gotta look into this for Xmas.

I run a small b-movie marathon club and we are approaching our 7th year. We have a marathon 4-6 times a year where we watch 7-8 movies in one go, good to bad to unwatchable.
Latest marathon we watched Cabin in the Woods and it was a nice twist on the stereotypes going to the woods. I can recommend that.
I frequent the Horror News site and subscribed to this thread in hopes to find interesting horror movies to watch.
At this point we have watched all the ones that usually come up in conversations but there's a lot of good stuff out there.

I'm familiar with Ito. I've already read Uzumaki and a lot of his short stories like The Enigma of Amigara Fault and others. Actually that's my main issue with him. Seems he does mostly short stories and I like longer ones, otherwise his stuff is pretty good. I'll track down Gyo and Museum of Terror since you mentioned then.
Haha...I had a lot of old Crypt comics when I was a kid but I lost then long ago like you!

The fact is that you said one thing, but meant another. "Gore" does not equal "torture porn" and there is no intrinsic link between the two.
If that was due to ignorance, then you learned something.
If it was a simple mistake, no biggie.
Either way, doubling down on it is silly.
Yesterday's gore is today's torture porn. Bloodsucking Freaks would be considered torture porn today, whereas Hostel had been considered gore back in the day. Which is why I don't understand your nitpicking about the term. After all, torture porn is the term, that's commonly used when people talk about Martyrs, how ever incorrect it may be when it comes to that particular movie.

Watched "Rumpelstiltskin" last night. I expected a horror, but I got a really ridiculous comedy-ish thing.

Looks interesting.
I watched this last night and it really is amazing. Great tension and build-up, and it really feels like an 80's movie, with lots of attention to detail. Can't find anything major that I didn't like, it's an impressive tribute to the classics.
Also watched Insidious, which got off to a pretty good start, but fell apart halfway through.

Check out The Innkeepers, Ti West's other feature. Really good use of tension on that one as well.

Innkeepers is on Netflix streaming.
Do we think the sequel to the friday the 13th remake will ever be made. I heard one of guys from platinum dunes say the script was done and they were waiting for it to be greenlit. This was like 2 years ago. Not looking good i recken. Shame really thought it was pretty good and much better than the nightmare remake.

I'm looking for some great recent horror films that aren't cheesy or are heavy on the cheap scares. I watched Let The Right One In this week and absolutely loved it. So I'd like some great mystery/horror films.
Edit: I was a fan of A Tale of Two Sisters so some recommendations on great Korean/Asian horror films are also appreciated.

Just watched Innkeepers. Not as good as House of the Devil, but yeah, still a great use of tension and a scary finale. These films have shown he's definitely a director to follow, can't wait to see what he does next.
Fair enough, but the movie is barely worth spoiling, let alone watching.

I actually watched V/H/S a few days ago, but I frankly didn't like it at all, besides the first story about that creepy girl with the oogly eyes.

Yeah, and a lot of people bitched about his video in V/H/S, but I loved it. It's the only one out of the entire V/H/S anthology that felt like a legitimate found footage. No character development, no clear motive, just brutal. It's akin to stumbling across a snuff tape in real life.
That said, I did enjoy the others as well for their own reasons. The one in the woods was probably my least favorite.

Watched this last night. It isn't a horror movie per se, but it has really great horror elements in it that I think most people will enjoy. The tension is authentic, and the suspense is held together well by the great acting.
Eh, it's a bit of a stretch to call it horror, but I can see why you got horror vibes from it. The Good Son is probably closer to horror than this and shares a fairly similar story. Good movie, though. Slow, but good.

I think that's why I don't look fondly upon Session 9 as others do. It's incredibly predictable.
I should watch Innkeepers, I remember seeing it on netflix, but didn't know it was by the director of House of the Devil.

I tried watching Session 9. Hell, I gave it a damn good shot. But the characters were completely unbelievable and unlikable and the plot was.. Well extremely disappointing to say the least. I had been hoping for something good but.. I gave up a little less than halfway through.
Is VHS already mentioned ? It's a found footage horror movie, I really liked it.

Yeah, the best part about Session 9 are the tapes, and there's not really enough of an emphasis on them. Movie sucks, people should stop recommending it.

Seeing the mentions here I just finished watching Noroi: The Curse. Really good japanese 'found footage' movie. Longer than I was expecting (a good thing), and the mystery aspect worked well. Definitely going to try to watch more of Shiraishi's films now, since he's done a few in this style. Noroi was on youtube though, I dont think the others will be as easy to watch.

I just watched The Pact earlier and I have to say.. Not bad. Wasn't the ending I was expecting, or the twist but.. All and all it was a pretty good movie.
Is this the spanish one? If yes, I LOVED this one. Its really one of the best ones I've ever watched. I recommend it too.

I enjoyed the Monster Squad style madness at the end of we're just going to make a horror sundae with everything on top. Sadly I didn't feel much dread for a movie that's ostensibly about the end of existence.

After watching V/H/S I can't even begin to describe the amount of donkey balls that flick sucks. You know the film is bad when pretty much the only redeeming factor in a movie is that it had boobs in it...

V/H/S is godawful. The only thing I liked about it was the story about the girl with the chihuahua eyes, even though the ending kinda sucked and didn't explain shit about what exactly she was.
The only story I liked was the one with the couple talking on facetime/skype. The rest were meh or downright awful (the last one, oh god). It had some decent ideas but crappy execution and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.
