My ex-girlfriend and I both run separate meetups in town for the same thing. It leaves a lot of people wondering, "Why are there two events for the same thing in town?"

So, from what I've gathered from asking around she is telling people that I am crazy and that I killed a dog.

These are kind of serious allegations, and I'm not entirely sure how to respond. She's obviously not telling the whole story and just wants people to stay away from me.

Should I just ignore it? Should I say something to these people who believe her?

EDIT: So I apparently I did kill the dog. Not on purpose, just sheer idiocy.

Aren't you that guy who got kicked out of a convention for families by soliciting sex?

Anyway, if people ask you point-blank about it, tell the truth and tell them you're not sure why she's still talking about you after you've broken up. Beyond that, you've gotta just ignore it.

Wait, "not the entire story"?
... Practice with us your spin, please.

Wait, so you did kill a dog? What's the whole story, pray tell?

The dog was old, and I picked him up wrong and its leg broke. I couldn't afford to pay to get the leg fixed, so they had to put it down.

Did you pick the dog up by his leg?

Yes. I'm an idiot.

This is the story of how you got a dog killed.

Just checked out your thread from the other day, and you're clearly going through some stuff. My bad for dogpiling on you about the convention thing.

It sounds like this is just an all-around toxic situation for you. Maybe it's time to migrate to a new group or area where you can make a fresh start?

EDIT: Wait, so you DID kill a dog? Man, I'm so confused and conflicted now. I think I should just leave. This is getting weird.

That sounds like you killed the dog, or at least severely injured him.

I don't have any friends and nobody knows me so I doubt anyone is interested in me enough to spread any rumours.

I'm dead.

Well, I had done it before. In my mind, I thought it was just being playful.
Don't ever pick up any pet by the legs. I didn't know that needed explaining. Obviously they aren't made for that and don't like it.

As for the rumors, let her rant. If she tells it to people you know, just explain the situation. Although what actually happened doesn't look so good also.

I got nervous when I saw who made the thread and got even more nervous as he told a story that again confirms his poor self-awareness.

I guess you just need to tell people the truth and that you didn't mean to do it, OP

I blow them up to ridiculous levels. So like if someone starts a rumor that I pick my nose I change it to I pick cadaver's noses.

Both of which happens to be true.

Maybe you should go the OJ route and write a memoir entitled:
IF I HAD KILLED THAT DOG...

Anyway, you could just like run a meet up with a different group? Idk, having the same group of friends for ex's with bad blood tends to be shitty.

It's a meetup for a social website. So, a completely different group goes to hers than mine since there's a big draw to pull from. However, a lot of times new people show up to her munch and ask questions about my munch out of genuine curiosity and she uses it to tell them what happened.
