You know how you make Superman more interesting? You make the movie about how Superman can't be at all places at once. At despite how hard he tries, people die. How he has godlike powers, and despite that there is still war and there is still violence. he really isn't, especially post Crisis. 80% of the time he's a flying brick, 10% of the time he remembers he has a brain, and the writers work extra hard to remind us of it. And the other 10% he is part of the DC Trinity so of course he'll win, somehow.
