Preordered the Series X in September 2020. It was sold out in literally a few minutes, so I got lucky. Received the console on launch day.

Not actively looking for a PS5, but I do want one someday in the future. Hopefully by that time it's more easily available.

My missus said she was going to get me a PS5 for my Birthday last February. I was like "yeah good luck there LOL"

Fair dues, she managed to snag one at a local retailer (She caught a small restock and ended up snagging it at 6am one morning!) but she was refreshing inventories across multiple stores early every morning to try to get one for ages before she got lucky.

So... if there's one piece of hardware I couldn't live my life without, it's my PC. The lack of ease in getting a PS5 means I'm going to start weaning myself off PlayStation and just playing whatever they bring to PS Now and Steam. The money I spent on PS4 and digital PSN games would easily pay for an entirely new PC (in addition to the one I already bought) so I think that's what I'm going to do now.

I got kind of super lucky. I managed to get a PS5 after the initial pre-order period, but still in 2020, bought the digital edition and received the disk one. Too bad I don't buy physical games, but it is there if I ever need, I guess.

Mostly failure. Got an option to get a PS5 from Currys but don't actually want one. Not been able to get a Series X without a bunch of bundled stuff i don't want 🤷🏻‍♂️

got both Day 1 from Amazon through preorder

Got PS5 number 11 from MediaMarkt yesterday. If you`re on a PC the whole day anyways (Homeoffice) getting one really isn`t that hard.
If you have a job where you can`t immediately react to your alarms or have your scripts/bots running...well, then you`ll probably not get one within the next 6-12 months.

Series x day one, I've tried to figure it out securing one before 2 weeks of its launch and it was a gamble ,I was surprised that they stopped preordering right after I preordered mine , but my friends were angry at me for not telling them to secure one for them.

It's more about effort, honestly. The main factor is working a job where you're able to use your phone for a few minutes if you get a ping.

I got 2 at launch, wasn't that hard. Everyone I know in the UK who wanted one has one by now.

I had little problem getting both the PS5 or the Series X. The PS5 I got at launch from Amazon, with a few refreshes needed. The Series X I managed to get from Very around April/May time. If you really, really want one, and have the money ready, then there shouldn't be too much of an issue.

Poll is missing an option for "Good but I don't care about consoles".

I managed to get PS5 and Series X without even wanting them, needing them or looking for them.

I wanted to play it safe so I preordered 5 consoles, of which 3 where canceled.
Got two PS5 Disc Edition at launch last year. A third one some weeks later. It took me like 10 hours in total, reading, informing and waiting when and where drops will happen and try and error at the dropdate.

I was on the ball, so pretty good. I got a launch PS5, then I got a XSS to gauge if I'd play an X. Then got an X (that was the most difficult as it was the missus scouring sites and getting lucky). Got two Halo consoles on release of pre-orders and also another XSS for my brother. Second Halo console has gone to someone who wanted one and not a scalper, my current XSX will go to my brother and I'll keep the Halo one as my main.

I went on to the PlayStation website the other day and applied to buy a ps5 lol.
Apparently you can buy as many as you want! If I get accepted I think I'm going to scalp at least one extra ps5 *cough*
Really her in germany you can only buy one and it's also forbidden to sell them but who is gonna now :lollipop_grinning_eyes:

I've been actively searching for less than a week and I got a PS5. I joined a discord group and tracks the drops of all new consoles and GPUS and have been in it since 10 days ago. Joined it Sunday of last week, got a PS5 on Friday from Target.

Got a ps5 at launch. Just had to monitor stocks and I knew that bestbuy had a system in place to counter bots. So, just was on the ps5 bestbuy page refreshing it constantly (at the time of restock), and as soon as the add to card button was available, managed to snag one

I'll be going with E-bay.....better chance there.....soon as you wake up and find out which store has some in stock the Xbox Series X has gone before you can say Forza Horzion 5.....And I am eager to get one ahead of the big Halo entry! in a few weeks..

Just ordered a PS5 digital edition from Playstation Direct. Absolutely refused to give money to scalpers, my patience finally paid off.

Sounds like you got lucky, not referring to the PS5.

Lucked out on a PS5 from Costco during launch, but still can't find an Xbox Series X. To be honest, I'm not trying too hard.

Pretty good. When I got enough money mid-year I placed preorder for PS5 at the only official store here in Sarajevo, console arrived about 3 weeks later, it was June 3rd. Couldn't be happier with console, it's quiet, fast and so many games to play that I missed last few years waiting for next-gen. 70$/80€ is still and never will be cool though.

I had to camp out GameStop to get my PS5 preorder in. I got my Xbox Series X preorder from Wal-Mart went they first went up. I got both on their launch day.

I also walked into a store the day the Switch OLED released and they had plenty, so I grabbed one of those as well.

Got both eventually, both through Best Buy which has a pretty good anti-bot system in place. Used nowinstock.net and HotStock app for notifications.

I got a PS5 disc on launch day but I had to get up at 7am, then press F5 (used an auto refresh but had to monitor it all the same anyway) for literally 6 hours until it came up at 2pm and I got one before it was sold out about 90 seconds later 😥

PSA: I plan to buy a XSX and a Disc PS5 on Black Friday next week (if any come in) so all my UK GAFfers looking for one give me a PM on Saturday and try and hook on of you up without stupid scalper price. I'm in a position where I'll have first dibs on what comes instore before public does so I don't mind helping people out for a small fee for my time and effort.

I've been trying to buy an Xbox Series X for third-party games for the last six months to no avail. It is impossible to buy one online here in the UK although the Xbox Series S always seems to be in stock somewhere. I definitely do not want that console though as it is underpowered for my needs and doesn't support 4K which is the resolution of my 55" TV.

I would not have bothered with the Xbox Series X at all if it wasn't for the difficulty in upgrading my 2013 built PC with an i7-4770K and a four year old GTX 1080 Ti graphics card (I am certainly not paying those high scalper prices!) and for the fact that the PS5, which I was able to pre-order for launch last year, is still not supporting VRR meaning that third-party games are prone to noticeable stuttering and/or screen tearing (particularly any game from Ubisoft who are the masters of screen tearing it seems!).

I feel that by the time I can get hold of an Xbox Series X that I will be able to get the new PC parts I want at affordable prices and/or the PS5 will finally *finally* support VRR (which my Xbox One X has had for FOUR YEARS, you reading this, Sony?) so I won't want one anymore!

Eleven?! What are you running a gaming cafe or something?

I bought 3, sold 2 kept 1. Basically making the one I got for free and a bit of money on top. I like this scarcity of consoles at the beginning as it always means I don't have to pay for a console. Any person who knows basic ways of setting up a notification and has a office job where they can pull out their phone when notification alerts you can easily aquire a PS5.

Had been trying since last year for either PS5 or Series X, then with good fortune was having a short break from work a few weeks ago when stock of Series X came in at a retailer so got that and now happy.

I'm not from the States, there's availability here, you just have to splurge over $1000 to get either.

I was lucky I pre-ordered mine on Amazon without issue and got it at launch.
