I got a Ps5 at launch, and a 3070 laptop in February, so I'm all good for the moment. When I get back Australia early next year I'm going to try for either a Series X or another Ps5… but frankly don't fancy much chances much.

Got mine from Poland few days after launch with LG CX sale offer which was posted by Bo_Hazem Bo_Hazem

No issues. Planning on getting PS5 later this gen, so no rush for me.

Got the PS5 the first day it went live on Sony's site and hand it in-hand on launch day. I was pretty shocked.

I didn't want an XSX at first but I decided a couple of months later it would be a nice companion to my computer for 360 games, games not on PC or games I want to play with HDR that are implemented better on console (Control for instance). That one took awhile. I monitored the YT and Twitter feeds for at least a month or two. Eventually a bundle came in stock from GameStop. I had no interest in the bundle but I just wanted it done. I ended up selling everything that came with so I didn't lose too much on it.

Honestly, I've used the XSX way more than the PS5. I like the controller better and everything about the system more. I just wish it had exclusives.

I was lucky enough to get two PS5s for launch. One for me direct from Sony through their invitation program. Another for my brother from Target.

Glad to have helped! Got my PS5 in 21st of November, like 2 days after day one release but it had Friday "weekend" in the middle slowing down from our capital to my city! So day one. :messenger_ok: :messenger_winking_tongue:

I gave up on the PS5 I think I realized I would never get the chance in getting one due to it being so hard to get one at this moment. Hopefully, one day I will buy it but by then I will lose interest. I already have a Series X and a PC so at this point I gave up. But who knows, maybe someday I will get lucky and get a PS5

My situation is Im a work from home (since 2005) tech person. So im constantly at my computer and was able to snag 3 PS5s (1 DE and 2 Disc) for me and friends for launch. I also got an invite for a later purchase a few months ago from Sony but declined it.

Got pretty lucky. I got my PS5 thanks to HeisenbergFX4 HeisenbergFX4 when he shared DF's tweet on Walmart pushing out pre-orders early. So was able to secure it that way. Then Series X the next week. Had went on a line at Gamestop and the person in front of me was the last person to get anything. Which was the Series S. Went back to my car and at 11AM ET, Walmart went live with the Series X. Grabbed it as well. Everything delivered at launch, which was great considering there could have been delays.

There are twitter and YouTube accounts you can follow for drop updates. I followed one dude in particular and eventually managed to get a PS5 from Walmart back in September. It took a lot of effort though and tbh I'm not really sure it's worth it at this point.

I like the console a lot, but it can't live up to the hype and it's certainly not worth paying above retail for.

Well it's year 1 of like 10 into the lifecycle. Maybe not necessarily a must have at this point in time for people, but it's better to have it now then still trying to look one for another year or so.

not in a rush to get either of them because i have a PC. there's no reason for me to want a PS5 right now or in the forseeable future but if for any reason I can't play games on my PC anymore then i will be trying damn hard to get a Series X.

that said any time i've been browsing neither console is in stock. it's ridiculous that we're 1+ year into this generation now and you can't buy one. alright yeah i suppose if you REALLY want one you will get one but i mean you can't just stroll into a store or decide fuck it i'm buying a console. you need to put the effort (and extra money) into it. i REALLY wanted a Switch OLED (had it pre ordered but needed to cancel) and I got one. Had to buy it off someone on eBay but I actually got quite a good deal. £350 for the console, screen protectors, a case, and a controller. the console itself is meant to be £310. screen protectors + case would be about £27 off amazon. the controller is worth about £23 from GAME. so i actually saved myself some money lol. i knocked it off but right now you're looking at like £380+ for JUST a console now. PS5/Series X are easily £600 or more when they should be £450-500.

Followed Wario and ran to Gamestop the second the preorders opened for PS5. sat outside gamestop after work at 7am till they opened for Series X preorder and got one.

Then for both consoles I preordered a couple from Amazon for friends. The PS5 went live at 11:43pm while I was at work and then 11am for Series X.

Had numerous preorders after also that I got for friends. Mostly bundles from gamestop and occasionally Amazon for just the consoles themselves.

I originally had two Ps5's for myself but an older lady was wanting to get one for her daughter for Christmas so I sold it to her for retail the day before Christmas. Felt good selling it at retail to someone who didnt stand a chance of getting one.

Seems crazy now but preordering the PS5 before launch was way easier then the Series X.

I walked into Gamestop several days after PS5 preorders first went live and they still had plenty but for the Series X that same Gamestop only had 5 up for grabs

Similar to me. I pre-ordered online as soon as the online shops went live, but was worried because they hadn't taken my deposit yet. I went into Game on the highstreet the following morning and they had fifteen pre orders left out of fifty.

Live in sweden, got 2 at lauchdate with close to zero effort. We had the time when consoles were gonna go live and i just refreshed a couple of different websites. Placed 3 orders just to be safe on 3 different websites.

Got all 3 of them but only 2 within the launchwindow, the third one came like a month or so after.

I tripped over a PS5 while getting groceries on black Friday.

I saw on here that Xboxes were in stock after E3 so I went to Gamestop and all they had was XSS so I got that.

Super lucky on my part. Zero effort spent basically.

Too damn easy. I was able to get get 2 PS5's at launch and sold one to a friend. Was able to get 5 more PS5's and sold them to friends who have bad luck. Walked into a Canada Computers and bought a Asus 3080 rtx and build a PC. Bought a Series X at launch from EBgames Canada preorder. Bought a second Xbox Series X Halo Edition preordered it online at gamestop.ca. Got two series X one for my room and another for my downstairs entertainment room. Everything is easy when you live in Canada. No bots, etc. I work from home and follow Llbabinz on Twitter for drops. Everything works out. No paying scalpers, etc.

If you live in the US you are shit out of luck competition there is much tougher it seems.

I work for an IT company that also has a physical computer and office equipment store, and if pending customer reservations for consoles aren't too excessive that day, basically I just need to snip my fingers and have a console in my hands the following week. Last Christmass I got a PS5 for my son that way :P

My luck has been insane. I got a 3080 and a 5950x in January. I also managed to grab G.Skill's 14 CAS Trident Z Neo's right when they released so I was set with my gaming PC right at the start of the year.

Then somehow, and for no apparent reason, I got one of those PS5 order emails from Sony in May and grabbed a digital edition PS5 just in time for Returnal and Ratchet. Literally insane luck that will never happen again.

I got a PS5 for me and a Series X for someone else at launch, zero effort.

I have barely played my PS5, I haven't bought a single PS5 game yet.

Once I started trying, it took me about 2 months to finally get a PS5. I gave up on xbox series x until next year because Microsoft don't ship any to UK.

My luck was pretty good. I hadn't even been looking to buy a PS5 yet. But at the end of July, I just got an invite from Sony to buy one from the Playstation store. I logged on when it said to, purchase a disk console and it arrived a couple of days later. No problems at all and super easy.

Easy for me in Mexico. PS5s had started becoming available in April of this year from major retailers. I got one in July with zero issues. Last week I saw PS5s on some store shelves. Series X has been more elusive but occasionally some online store will have them in stock. Almost everything is sold out now due to holiday shopping. Now retailers like Coppel, Aurrera and even Walmart are listing both consoles well above retail price.

I was lucky to land an Xbox Series X when preorders were first announced. I was late for PS5 due to the nature in which they executed their announcement. Since then it's been a black hole of time and effort trying to procure a PS5. I was having the same trouble with finding a GPU to upgrade my PC and my thinking at the time was "whichever comes first". By that I meant, if I get a GPU first then I go all out on the PC upgrade. If I get a PS5 first then I hold off on the PC upgrade and use the money for titles on PS5.

A little finagling with Micro Center's management and I managed to get them to call me when my GPU was ready to be purchased. They even held it for me. That was back in Feb 2021. Since then I have not aggressively chased after a PS5. However, I did sign up to be chosen to buy a PS5, in which invites were supposed to happen this month. As of yet I have not received an invite. And so my PS5 adventure continues.

I shop at Target exclusively for food and home stuff. Every time we go for anything, I check the tech section. I've never once seen a current-gen console in stock. I suspect this is many others experience as well.

Personally, I have both an XSX and a PS5. The XSX I bought from a scalper because I'm part of the problem. The PS5 I got recently thanks to an invite from Sony in my email.

Got Series X at launch but was unlucky securing a PS5. I haven't bothered trying to get one this year either. Hopefully supply constraints will ease up next year and I'll be able to get one from a normal store.

I really did want a ps5, but i have decided to hold off for now.

I am playing Diablo2 atm on my ps4 pro with some old friends and will be doing so for a very long time.

Of course, when the new horizon dawn or God of war releases, i am going to get all needy and want one but yer for the time being i am enjoying the old console so much.

I also saw that Ion Maiden is on sale today for 10 bucks, instant buy as i love those types of games.

The games i am playing at present don't need fancy hardware it seems.

I currently have two PS5 consoles as well as a rtx 3090 & 3080, been fortunate. Me and my wife play together by the way which is the reason for two.

Got a PS5 at launch, paid slightly too much in some shitty Kohl's bundle for a Series X. Got a 3070 ages ago int he EVGA queue. It's not been awful, but none of these machines are worth climbing mountains for. My PS5 is just a huge paperweight to me now, though. I basically consider Demons' Souls a $570 game, since that's all I really played on it.

Anyone who truly wanted a next gen console has one already. If you want to just lazily walk into a store and grab one by chance, you're not going to get one.

I got one for myself last November from PlayStation Direct (exactly 1 week after release) then I got my wife one in March from a Walmart drop. Added it to cart, instantly sold out, but I kept it in my cart for the next wave, and as soon as the clock turned 4PM, I checked out. EZPZ.

I also scored one for my best friend that wasn't having much luck. Got his from GameStop as a bundle. The bundles are a lot easier to get and don't sell out as fast. He was gonna buy an extra controller anyway, and it came with a year of PS+ which he would use anyway, so it was a win-win for him.

So yeah, I've scored 3 of them so far and I'm not a bot and didn't use any special tricks except for twitter notifications.

I got both at launch. The ps5 was pre ordered through a shady amazon back door link shared by one wario 64 moments before the page actually went live for everyone lol, and for the series x i drove my ass down to the mall at 4 am and waited outside for four hours until gamestop opened so i could pre order a console. I feel for folks still trying though. Keep your heads up, hopefully supply will ease up in the next year/year and a half. Plus there arent a ton of "must have" next gen only games right now. Most of the heavy hittters are still coming to last generation consoles.

Bad. I don't think I'll be get one for at least 12 months.
Try waiting over night when you know theres gonna be an in person drop. My buddy just did this for a halo series x console at best buy and got one. Yeah he had to wait in line overnight for like 12 hours, but he got it

I pre-ordered the PS5 in August 2020 I think, and got it in March. So I had to wait a few months after release, but not too bad.

Once I signed up for stock alerts, I got a PS5 within a couple months. GPU was a different story...14 months on and had to resort to a bundle deal and paid a little over MSRP. But it still felt like a win considering my buddy needed the extra stuff in the bundle and just bought the extras from me

Got 2 PS5's and a Series X on launch day. Have 1 of the PS5's to a little cousin. So I voted good. Sucks for everyone else who STILL can't get one.

In got a PS5 back in September. Basically just followed a couple twitters to see when units would be available and then play the "game" of getting one into your cart and then trying to check out. Took a couple months of failure till I was finally successful.
