Yeah, that's what I thought...you're basically 'super sampling' an infinite resolution (real life).
And before anyone brings it up, it's the same reason there may not be as much a difference with CG movies between certain HD resolutions Because they're typically sampled from much higher resolution masters themselves (which themselves use very high quality AA etc.) That's not the same as game graphics, which really only have the resolution they render at to work with.
