Depends on how well it does. I think people here are higher on it than most because of … reasons. If it's an 8.5+ game easily 15-20…if it's a 7.5-8. 10ish. If it's less , marvel avengers flopped so any IP can.

Really depends on the game's quality. The biggest hurdle this game has is overcoming the slow death of the brand. JK, agree with her or not, has become a divisive figure and has done a lot to color the impression that many have of the Harry Potter franchise. Her controversies have taken a lot of the focus away from her creation (which was universally loved). Pile on to that the fact that the two newest movies are absolute pants and you have yourself a pretty tricky situation. Seriously, when's the last time the general public liked something coming from the wizarding world? I firmly believe that the IP needs the potential strength of this game more than the game needs the strength of the IP.

WB absolutely need this game to be a critical and commercial success. It needs to be Sony's Spider Man levels of good.

I really don't think people are aware of JK as much as you think/even care if you explain it to them. People online will screech about it, but when her views are explained I think the majority of people would agree. But the reality is most people just... don't care? Biggest issues for this game are just going to be is it good or is it licensed shovelware.

If gaming mainstream media is to believe... absolutely zero because only super mega evil nazi space empire lizards would ever want to buy such a horrific video game... its basically soylent green 🤣

I doubt even 5% of potter fans even know about her controversial views, and even fewer disagree with her. The franchise is still huge. The fantastic beast movies were trash on the whole. Even that did little to diminish the brand.

Yeah I was just thinking if gow ragnarok sold 11 million so far for a popular sequel then Harry Potter has to do better than that.
Are you forgetting GoW was made by one of the best game studios in the world? From a highly acclaimed series where everyone was was waiting for this entry as they already knew that the game will be great?

Let's wait and see. If the reviews are very positive, I don't see a reason this game will not sell 5-7 millions, but +10-11 millions would require zero big issues with the game

6,679 right now I just checked :messenger_tears_of_joy:

For every person on there the game will sell anywhere between 2.2-3k copies each!! (Assuming it sells between 15-20m copies which it most definitely will)

They are going to be hurting so much :messenger_smiling_with_eyes:

Whats funny is the dumb cunts have banned all speak of it, so they have treated it like Voldermort, and as such cant even cry to each other about how butthurt (if they still have butts) they are.

How many millions? I don't know. But it will be huge. EVERYBODY knows Harry Potter and they adore the universe the beloved characters live in. Both kids and adults loved the books/movies and I'm sure many of those people are anxious to spend more time in that world. The game can be a steaming turd and it will still sell well...already has based on the pre-orders. It can be just mediocre and gamers will eat it up in droves. Even If it's only above average, it will be lightning in a bottle just because of the I.P. And if it turns out to be actually and truly good, holy crap! From the vids and previews I've seen, I don't really see how it can lose.

20 million is a damn lot, guys. This game is single-player only and technically it isn't on the same level as, say, RDR2 was at launch, and that was the most anticipated AAA game of its year from one of the biggest devs in the world. I'm not sure the Potter IP can drag it so far given the circumstances. 10 millions? I'd say easily. 15? Sure, why not. 20? Go take a look at a list of 20+ million sellers and you'll see a pattern a game like Hogwarts isn't a part of. If the available data is correct, the best-selling Potter game to date is still Philosopher's Stone in all its versions, and that's barely over 10 millions at the height of Potter mania. I don't think Hogwarts has what it needs to reach 20 millions, but we'll see.

I think judging it based on previous Harry Potter games won't reveal much.

You could of made the same argument for Spiderman PS4 and we know how that went.

I think 20 million is fairly reasonable considering games like Horizon eventually got there.

The only thing that might stop it is if it's a terrible game which I don't think it will be

So, imagine an alternative timeline where the only Star Wars games ever released where low ambition movie tie-ins made for kids. No Knights of the Old Republic, no Jedi: Fallen Order, no Battlefront etc.

Then they release a big ambitious open world action RPG in the Star Wars universe where you can create your own character and go explore all the locations from the films. Imagine the amount of excitement there would be for that.

That's basically the situation we're looking at here. The sales of the old games aren't really a good indicator, because this is the game Harry Potter fans have always wanted.

As long as it's good (doesn't have to be GOTY quality, just good) I think it'll quite comfortably hit 20 million. Considering it's coming out in February it wouldn't surprise me if it ended up being the best selling game of the year to be honest.

Steam is much bigger than before. PC will surpass those numbers easily.
There is no stopping to that steam engine.
I would say more like eventually than easily. It would have to be deeply discounted for awhile to reach those numbers. Most likely sales will be 60% ps and 20% each for xbox and pc for launch. Plus it doesn't matter that steam is bigger since a lot of pc gamers are conditioned(?) to buy on sale.

Nope, look at pre-orders on steam. It surpassed steam deck. That is a lot of copies sold, considering that list is total revenue. And you can't surpass steam deck in that area, unless you sell a lot of copies.

Depends.

Are we talking counting reset era sales or not?

Because they probably take up a big chunk.

15 million at the end it's run. The franchise hits many generations of people that grew up reading the books / watching the films.

Not a huge potter fan , but my wife loves the franchise. Game is pre loaded and ready to play tonight.

I legit would not be shocked at some 20 or 25 million plus life time sales.

This title could be massive and the start of some huge series.

cathy hughes millions GIF by 50th NAACP Image Awards

I'm guessing 3-5 this first week, up to ten by the end of the year and 17 lifetime...

That's kidnd of my conservative estimates

I think we're looking at about the 10 million mark if I had to guess based on what I'm seeing on forums and social media. Shit, I'm not even a HP fan and I bought the Dig Deluxe edition.

it's a triple-a family title. nintendo aside, there ain't a whole lot of these, &, combined with a built-in fanbase, i think this game's gonna do very well...

I saw that it was number one on the sales chart but I don't know what that means by sales numbers for steam. I honestly just figure that any AAA third party multiplat game would sell double to triple on playstation than it would sell on steam or xbox at launch.
