How's Loadout, GAF

A brand new game and it has Australian servers! I played 3-4 hours last night, had a blast and a ping of 48 which is unreal -- I rarely get that playing CS & Dota 2. The customization is pretty solid -- LOVE the fact that you can test everything without buying it, and the test area is excellent. I fear once I have 2 weapons I'm happy with I will no longer be too interested. I've got a rocket launcher that fires 3 lightning rockets which are laser guided. Pretty sweet. I HATE fire weapons though, the burn damage is huge.

I'm just impressed at how stable it seemed for a brand new game.. I suppose it has been in beta for a while but still. I don't know why it's getting so much shit from critics, probably because it's not a generic military FPS -- I'm enjoying the light hearted humour. I also really like the twists on classic gamemodes. The fact that you add additional points onto hammer captures from killing people with the hammer is a sweet mechanic, adds some additional reward for risk.

Hey, we should post our Loadout usernames here so we can get some GAF nights together.

mine is TheSilkiest

I guess this is an...unofficial OT?

I only posted here because I searched and couldn't find anywhere to discuss it, didn't want to make an OT.

My username is Madrical, feel free to add me but I play on Australian servers.

Finally got into a few games after matchmaking kept kicking me out for a solid 20 minutes. I love the Wolverine-esque damage effects where you can run around with your ribcage visible or on a stump of a foot. Other than that, the action didn't really click for me, and the various F2P elements soured the experience.

If you want to play an arena based, cartoon shooter that's also F2P, you'd be better off with Team Fortress 2.

I can dress my character as the Fonz, taunt by giving a thumbs up, and steer remote controlled rockets into people's noggins until the cows come home.

Game of the year, all years.

Finally started getting into the matches over the weekend and I've gotten completely sucked in. The combat mechanics are very satisfying for me, and I love the freedom to experiment with the weapons. Only thing I'd hope for is more weapon upgrades in the future and some new maps.

I've just started playing and I'm having a ton of fun so far. It's been awhile since I've played this style of shooter. Reminds me of TF2 but a bit more simplistic. It's not the best arena style shooter but it's still a lot of fun to play.

I think it suffers from being a TPS rather than an FPS. The screen bob and the model animation, the ADS and movement is all just headache inducing. I also dislike the constant hopping and dodge rolling that everyone does all the time. There's no thought process to it--it just makes you harder to hit with no penalty so everyone does it all the time. I would find it less annoying if it was in first person, but I still think it's dumb when games do nothing to discourage constant hopping.

Disabling bobbing camera made it better.

FWIW, I think jumping and dodging makes you light up on the mini map.

I enjoyed a few hours of it, but then I realized 2 things that actually made me quit the game: 1) weapons are unbalanced, which normal when you have a deep customization system, but then why would anyone stray from the laser+ missile or sniper+missile combo? Automatic pulse and bullets are incredibly ineffective by comparison.
2)The weapon progression system makes it so that people who played a lot get objective advantages over the new players, and this is not a good thing. They really didn't need to add that system, people should play for the game itself, not to fill bars.
Other minor complaints include the terribad match commentor, and the fact that you can't match your steam ID with the game.
Honestly, they could fix all of this with a few patches, and I'd return to it straight away, because is really a fun game.

I'm not sure if I wanna get the corkscrew rockets or just leave as is.
