HP Discontinues webOS (Widespread $100 TouchPad sales)

Staples and officemax are sending them back confirmed. All mine have come from Walmart. Went to both stores I was told they are sending them back
 
Wait, Best Buy isn't selling what they have currently or won't sell it anymore after they exhaust their inventory? I believe the latter, but if not it's news to me. We had employees on here last night saying management told them it would drop at open today and to be ready and pick one up themselves if they wanted it...

back to sleep i go, my Walmart doesn't carry it, i ordered one at office depot that is backordered. Last resort will just be seeing if HP.com puts it back in stock, they have a " please check back soon" notice at least.

went to walmart 5 min away, had no idea what i was talking about.

but the one i bought online at a walmart 20 min away confirmed ready to pick up, so i assumed it's on hold for me.

hell yeah :)
 
My local Staples is clueless. They are selling them, but full price. Two dudes are getting them hoping to get subsequent price drop.
 
So my manager (I work at Staples) just told me to take down the display unit. Looks like we're going to be sending them back to HP. There hasn't been an official memo from corporate yet about a price drop or return to vender though so I'll keep you all updated.
 
The manager probably just told employees to say that since the store would lose so much selling them at that price. There has been no word yet on what we're supposed to do.
 
So wtf...did I get lucky or something? Other than that 1 walmart that I bought the $99 one at, I've called 4 different walmarts and they are all still at the original retail price. @_@

Just depends on the walmart, the one I went to wasn't going to change price 'til monday.

Manager got really mad when I asked why they sold mine. She proceeded to hang up on me Wtf
 
Just got back from Futureshop, ordered in the middle of the night for instore pickup and they were actually pretty fantastic about it, I got my instore pickup confirmation around 8:30 (an hour before they opened) and at open they already had all their stock set aside for orders. There were probably 40 people there and all they had left were a few open box units.

Although I was right to be suspicious of the instore pickup working out as this was actually the 2nd one I ordered after I changed my mind to go for the 32gb after ordering the 16gb at a different FS. Came home and saw that the first order was cancelled (was going to cancel it anyway).

Yay!

Just picked one up the last one at my Walmart. Had the original Palm Pre, so I am familiar with the OS, although its been a while since I used it. Any app recommendations from people that have had it for a bit?

Also, did I read people already have Android running on it?

Did in store pickup on walmart......guess I'll have to see what happens. If all the other stores are sending them back to HP does that mean HP will sell those online?
 
Has anyone tried a PC Richard & Son retail store yet? I slept for a few hours and can't keep up with the SlickDeals thread.

They had it online for $99. No Walmart around me so this is probably my only chance.

wow i did the same thing but at walmart. that's pretty much bullshit.

i will be leaving for walmart in an hr or two, got a confirmed in store pick so things like these make me sad.
 
wait, so if you order from Walmart.com and choose store pickup, there should be no issues? Should I just call ahead first to make sure my store has stock? Whenever I search on Walmart.com, I enter my zip and some stores say "Ships in 5-8 days" while others don't say that. Is it a good bet that the ones w/o "5-8 days" have it in stock??
 
Holy fuck I'm going to kill someone. Not really, but still. The Source updated the store availability to "not in stock". I walked for an hour to get to the mall and it said their was 2 in stock ten minutes ago. Did some employees buy them? UGH FUCK.

add the touchpad to your cart, you should have a store set as your home store, try to check out and it'll say blah blah not available for pickup, i tried all my stores in my area till i find one that said available for instore pickup and bought it. this was 2-3 hours ago though.
 
Fucking hell.

Walmart sold out right after opening, and I just confirmed with Best Buy that they aren't selling them.

Anybody get an extra they want to sell?
 
Well my walmart order got cancelled! Ugh don't feel like randomly driving around looking for one. Is there anyone who got over excited and bought to many lol I'll buy one.

I can't get out to my store until around 5:30 to try and pick up.

The browser on this thing is decent, right? That's pretty much why I want it. Anything else is just extra.

reading the last few pages.. I am sooo glad I got one online last night and don’t have to deal with this retail bullshit. running around from store to store and getting stonewalled. no thanks.
