Huge Best Buy Sale on 4/26?

Yeah, I tend toward this nowadays(I used to buy hordes of cheap games) so I usually just buy 1 or 2 games I have wanted for awhile rather than a bunch of crap.
 
Picked up Overlord and SCIV. All copies of Pure were gone.

I've wanted Overlord for quite some time so I'm pretty happy about it. I got there pretty early Sunday because my girlfriend had to get up anyways and do some work on a project and my god it was a nerd haven there. So many very, very strange dudes just hording Xbox360 games and almost running into me as I was there looking at the PS3 selection.

This one exceptionally strange person with obviously no social sense and complete lack of social red flags kept walking up right behind me and looking over my shoulder breathing very heavily. He was carrying, at minimum, 13 games in his hands. I was fully stranged out.

My BB didn't have a damn thing yesterday. And what they did have wasn't worth the $10 they were asking for it.

That's a big reason I tend to stay away from big sales now. So many people who have no idea how to act politely in crowds. Even non-nerdy people bother me in the Wii section. :lol

Sweet pickup on Overlord though. I always wanted to try that game out but still haven't picked it up. Probably wait a little bit longer for 2 to come out before picking it up.
 
Congrats to those that found Pure. I arrived before the doors opened and had about 20 people in front of me. By the time I got over to the 360 section Pure was wiped clean.
Picked up a few games I'll spend some time with over the summer.

Alone in the Dark

I passed on IU. Had it in my hands but I just think I'm done for good with JRPG's. I'll check some reviews today to see just what I may be missing out on.
 
Gonna hit up Wal Mart today for some price matching on Pure, C&C and perhaps DMC4 and ID.

Do they price match right in electronics? Or do you have to go up to customer service?
 
Yeah there were like 8 people in front of me before the doors opened at best buy yesterday.

Unfortunately the store had no copies of pure for either system. I had to push some little kid out of the way to get the last copy of Too Human.

Also picked up The Bourne Conspiracy (awesome), Silent Hill Homecoming (pretty good), and Infinite Undiscovery (not bad).

It was awesome getting these 4 games new for 40 bucks, it felt like christmas or something.
 
Yeah I should've gotten a rain check for Pure.

The game that most impressed me was The Bourne Conspiracy. Man the best 10 dollar game ever, as long as you dont play on assassin difficulty which is suicide. Agent is fine

My friend picked up SC4 and Infinite Undiscovery. He's keeping SC4 for now but will hopefuly let me have it later, I end up with Inf Und.

I went to the best buy on La Brea in LA and they had a BUTT ton of Operation Darkness, Fracture, Unreal, Quake Wars, 007, Hellboy. I picked up OD (Anime Hitler in a strat rpg by atlus?! Holy shizzz!) and I barely managed to find the last Too Human on the main racks.

I went to another best buy in Glendale later that night but it was completely ransacked except for two Pures inside a glass case. So I'm curious...what's the deal with that game? I know it's a racing thing, but it seems like the most desirable game of the whole deal. Good trade-in value? :lol

Also, I can get a PS3 soul calibur if anyone has a 360 soul calibur or silent hill they want to trade.
 
The way I looked at picking any of these games up is : if these were on XBLA for 10 bucks would I buy them?





and then I did..all of them.

Ok just got back from Wal-Mart... got C&C, Pure and DMC4.

Word to the wise.. they had to have 2 managers clear Pure as it retails for 50 bucks. I then overheard them say they were going to pull their copies of Pure because of the price gap.

1.Good, My Best Buy doesnt use the US Advertisements so nobody has any idea of the 9.99 sale. So Went today at 11 and theres tons of the 9.99 games. Multiple copies of Pure/Infinite Unidscover/Silent Hill ect. Every game in the 9.99 list. So i ended up with all the games i wanted, bought Infinite Undiscovery, Too Human, TNA impact and Unreal Tournament

2.Bad, My Best Buy doesnt use the US Adverstisment, so GTA Chinatown wars is still 35 dollars. :( I really wanted to buy that.
 
I managed to get Pure for 360, hooray! And Bolt for PS3 woooooooooooo.

Later that day and also for $10, I bought a six-and-a-half pound pot roast, holy christ. It was The Day Of Deals.
 
Went to 2 Bestbuys on Sunday at 10:30 am... Wanted Pure, SC4, and Overlord... got nothing.

I did get a copy of Sly 3 on their bargain bins though. haha. Only games they still had that I thought was pretty good was Red Alert 3 and Too Human.

I can't believe how quickly they sold out. I almost forgot about price matching so I think I'll do that at Walmart later today.

Most of the stuff has been picked clean. Picked up Jericho, Universe at War and Red Alert 3. Does anyone want to trade any of these for Infinite Undiscovery?

PS3 stuff is easier to find than 360, from my experience.
 
If this hasn't been talked about. I'm in Ft. Lauderdale and the Best Buys in our area (I went to two) had no hording as far as I can tell. I got there about 30 min. after it opened and before I left the shelves were bare of almost all the popular titles though but I saw everyone only grab 1 copy of each game, two at the most. Did anybody notice ebayers?

with a fire sale like this, probably not. That's why the rain checks have to be manually overridden.
 
I was at the Waterfront store in Pittsburgh, and I thank everyone for not noticing the games I hid under the shelf on Friday evening.

In my hiding spot were:

Alone In the Dark
Infinite Undiscovery
Soul Calibur IV

I should have looked for Hellboy but I forgot, and the store didn't have any copies of Pure to begin with.

When I went in the place was pretty much wiped clean, but my games were still hiding down behind the racks and I added Operation Darkness to the mix on a whim.

Wouldn't matter. Company policy is that you don't take anything that's been sealed. You also can't take two copies of the same game from the same person.

Anybody trying to resell these games today probably isn't going to get much for them. Gamestop's trade in 3/4/5+ for 10/20/30% extra promotion ended yesterday, and really the only game over $11 trade was Pure.

Since you returned to the store anyway, you could have bought the games on Friday and just had the price difference refunded :P
 
Just wanted to thank this thread for pointing out Chinatown Wars' sale. I was going to get it eventually, but the sale decided it for me last week. Great game.
 
Yeah, there should be no problem with issuing rainchecks for any of the games featured in the ad. Whether or not we'll get them back in before the rainchecks themselves expire is another matter entirely. Example: Ninja Gaiden 2 was on sale for only $10 a couple of months ago and I ended up having to figure out how to handle the two rainchecks that we had gotten for it, since it was deleted from our system. Thankfully, one of our other stores had a few copies left, so I was able to get them transferred in with no problems. Funny enough, only one of them was ever claimed.

I guess the point of that is that Ninja Gaiden 2 came out later than DMC4 and has been a deleted SKU in our system since late January. No matter how big you think a title is, it's not going to stay on shelves forever unless it's a guaranteed winner with legs. DMC4 was front-loaded all the way and has been choking on the dust of our shelf-space ever since; it's no surprise that we're trying to get rid of it.

Well, I was out of town so was not able to go. So I went to check out what they had today. Everything was pick bone dry for the PS3. There were a few 360 games but I already had them.

So I said to myself, "Self I did not drive all the way over here for nothing. Someone on Gaf mention they did a price match at Walmart. So lets go there!" So off to Walmart I went. The only PS3 game they had in the ad was SCIV, so I asked the clerk if I can do a price match on SCIV and she said, "o the bestbuy deal? Someone made a huge deal about that yeserday and we had the system changed, Im sure it still works." So I grabbed a bunch of game for the PS3. SCIV, Pure, DMC4, Street fighter 4, Resident Evil 5, and COD world at war.

Thinking she is going to say O I am sorry you can only get the game that matches the AD. Well she did not even look at the ad. And rang all the game up at 9.99. I could have gotten greedy and bought some more but meh my Backlog of games is big enough as it is....

Well that certainly was not the case at my wal mart. They looked at the best buy ad in full detail and had 2 upper managers sign off on it. They then asked for the ad and I heard the manager ask an employee to pull the Pure games off the shelf.

So not all wal marts are run that way, he was very lucky.

I bought Quantom of Solace 007, which was packaged with an XL t-shirt, and PURE. I started up 007 last night, played through the first mission. Despite using the CoD engine, it plays rather poorly, but has a lot of potential. I'm going to give PURE my complete and undivided attention in the upcoming weeks.

got lucky and price matched the last copy of DMC4 360 at my wal-mart.. the woman went off with the ad, presumably to find some managers and show them.. and I was willing to wait around for the rejection (obviously best buy didn't have any left), but both of the remaining employees said I could leave as long as I didn't want the ad back, and with the blame successfully off my head, I pranced off giddily.

I don't know what I'd do at this point. I have a rather large conscience, but it's a mistake on their part. But I would've really known about it - any convincing otherwise is lying to myself.But. But.

What do you guys do if you KNOW it's a mistake on their part that you're getting something cheap? Not normally this scale, but maybe a single item or something - I normally let it slide and just smile at 'small victories'. It IS, in a way, slightly dishonest, however. This case here is even greater. :/ (not trying to make you feel bad, satori, just my opinion - I'm not sure what I'd do if I were in your situation).
