Hyperdevotion Noire: Goddess Black Heart |OT| Neptunia Tactics

I got my LE yesterday and have put about 2-3 hours into the game so far and I'm enjoying it. I've trudged through the PS3 games and thought they were 5/10ish at best, but the SRPG format of this game just clicks so well. It's so nice not having to deal with Neptune as a protagonist though! Her dialogue is so grating.

I do hate how so many of the assets (especially the OST) are recycled though. I know that IF is pumping these games out like crazy, but it's pretty lame. I will say that I'm surprised at how good the battles look -- even though I don't typically like chibi designs, these look really polished.

Wish I could buy at least the wallscroll from the LE.

Was it an online store exclusive LE? Or will the usual places like Gamestop get them eventually?

haven't watched many videos before (the game title makes it real hard to find on youtube). Weird the damage scale is vastly lower than typical nep games where you are easily doing hundreds to thousands of damage out of the gate.

How does the HDD system work in this? Is it a mp drain, or just 1 cost transformation?

During your turn do you have control over the order of when each unit moves?

They haven't yet had an LE availible anywhere other than the localizer's online store dating back to the NISA days. They don't charge tax (at least in my state) or shipping, IMO no real reason not to get from them if you want it. No GCU sucks I guess but I doubt they're going to be available in Best Buy anytime soon.

well... still have rebirth 2 to wrap up. And ended up ordering a used copy of PP for $13 on amazon, so that will keep me busy.

might pick this up for cheaper later. I just feel guilty about buying srpgs when I still haven't made much progress in tactics ogre psp, which apparently is one of the best games ever.

You have a separate bar for these things called Lily Points that you get when you have adjacent units using skills. 30 LP lets you transform (as of right now it maxes at 100 LP) for 3 turns. During turns, you have control over the order. :)

Physical copy was due today, Amazon tracking says:

"Delay in delivery due to weather or natural disaster"

even though it is near my city and weather is much better than last week. I won't have time to mess with it maybe next week anyway.

Can someone tell me what franchises/companies the new girls represent?

edit: hmmm are those free dlc items as OP as the anime sword dlc for rebirth 2?

It's not really an onomatopoeia but it's appropriate enough. A peck is a light quick kiss on the cheek, visually similar to how birds peck things
Thanks for the explanation! :D

English or japanese voiceovers? Decisions, decisions. Also, is there a trophy for difficulty or could I get the platinum trophy if I just went with easy for the playthrough?

Japanese, not because i prefer Japanese, i like to understand what characters say, but because for some reason some english voiceovers(like the ones in Neptunia Rebirth 1 and Atelier Totori +) are very far from being complete, most of the dialogues are mute, so i bet it will be the same here.

Does anyone know if the other DLC, the "ultimate packs", are just in-game items that can be acquired without purchasing them?

Is all the DLC already out? That looks like a full set anyway. Not a fan of the total amount but I prefer it all being there day one. I finished Victory before they even added the character DLCs. And they're well organized this time too. I think I'll just get the characters (maybe not Iffy and Compa...a bit bored of them by now) and of course the freebies.

i'll probably snag Tiara, and the ultimate sets for Estelle, Lee-Fi, and Ai or Saori

i mean...i shouldn't because i should be saving this money, but still

That's the complete set. The Dengeki stuff like the Anime Pack in Rebirth 2 was actually cross promotion stuff.

The Ultimate Items (Character Sets & Disc) are DLC only. I wish they'd clearly mark which stuff was obtainable in game (I often have difficulty telling if Gallery unlocks are only for in game content or if they do extra stuff or if item packs have unique items) .

I can't believe they actually put out all the DLC on Day 1 for one of the few games that I was planning on playing before all the DLC came out. I am pleased.

The volume in this game seems really low, for some reason. I turned the voices and BGM all the way up in the options, and still had to turn my TV way up (playing it on the PS TV).

yeah it's super low for some reason, luckily i play at night so it's not a big deal

i have no interest in the game... yet. too much games on my back log (still havent even started neptunia 2) just grabbed the free DLC though. thanks for the heads up neptunia gaf.

At least Amazon updated your tracking with an explanation. Mine still says "Arriving today by 8pm. Shipping today"

Not happening. Makes sense that the delay is due to weather problems, though. I know several parts of the country are dealing with it right now.

Did Sting's recruit mission right after getting the other CPUs, like 30 mins in, and WOW THAT SECOND BATTLE WAS DUMB. Heal Dogoos and tons of penguins and the two bosses were just HARD. Vert died 3 turns in, but I won somehow when Nep turned to stone and became a literal aggro wall, with the monsters all focusing on her and doing only 1 damage. Used her as a scapegoat to go ahead and kill all the dogoos and the two bosses.

That sounds hilarious.

They are literally the best equipment for the characters (better than their in game final gear) so they are hilariously overpowered if you use them straight off yeah.

DLC Equipment in these games is always stupidly overpowered, don't get or at least use it in a first playthrough unless you want to destroy the difficulty curve or accelerate farming.

how much bullshit is in this game is the more accurate question.

what is needed to get the true ending?

Oh ho, so you want to get the True Ending eh? Prepared to do some work! I'm not gonna spoiler this since it doesn't need any. The condition is...
Get Lily Rank to 70 or above between Noire and EVERYONE (DLC not included I presume).
Also there's some bonus scene if you do all the Sim Noire and Request stuff correctly but eh who cares about that.

Enjoy your grinding!

I canceled my order from Best Buy, as when I talked to them yesterday, they were saying it was expected to be in stock around March 6th at the earliest, possibly later. No GCU discount sucks, but I think I'm done preordering Vita games from Best Buy. The last 3 before Noire arrived a week after release, and now this one they aren't even getting until possibly two weeks after release. I'll stick to games I can preorder and pick up at my local Best Buy for the GCU discounts.

I went ahead and picked it up on Amazon this morning.

Anyone have any advice for getting the 3 treasure chests on the not party side of the map , on the 2nd map of the IF Recruitment ?

The boss and IF immediately move and block off the corridor before I can get anyone through it to go after the chests and the boss is immune to knockback.

I was tempted by GCU but I keep seeing people on gaf saying they get screwed out of day 1 releases from the smaller pubs

My preorder from Best Buy states it will ship in 1-2 weeks. I used reward certificates on it so I am hesitant to cancel the order. Anyone with experience with this matter know what will happen if I cancel? I'd like to think they would reissue a certificate but the wrinkle comes in that there were other items in this order that did ship so part of the certificate was used. Sigh...that GCU discount was just too tempting...

I just did that this morning. I got an email saying the game was backordered, and that it was expected to arrive between March 6 and March 17. So I canceled my preorder through their website, then sent them an email explaining I had used a $10 rewards certificate and that I would appreciate it being reapplied back to my account.

I got a response from them a few hours later stating that they were going to credit the $10 back to my account, and that it should reappear to be used within 72 hours.

never change, Tiara. also one of her specials is the Flowing Slash and this makes me very happy, wish they'd stop with the "dlc characters join your party at level 1" bullshit

is the Nisa character not in Hyperdevotion, or the Rebirth games? She was one of my favorite characters :(
sadly our pettanko heroine of justice has packed her bags for good

No reason not to get the free DLC, it's not overpowered or anything really. I ended up buying all four DLC characters, too.

The Dengeki items are a bit overpowered for the start of the game. But they fall in the middle-ish of what's available. It's not a huge deal though since only Neptune's sword is permanently available (the other stuff is only available in HDD which only lasts 3 turns, and you'll 1 Hit Kill most enemies in HDD anyway).

The 2 stage missions are incredibly tedious for farming.

Especially the IF and Tiara ones (the former because in the 2nd part you're at the mercy of the RNG to get to the chests until you've saved an incredible amount of money to get a movement booster and the latter because the chests are behind a tedious teleport and platform puzzle in the 1st part.

Tiara is also incredibly broken. Offensively she starts with the power of Neptune with DLC weapon and end game processors.

So is the battle system in this game any good?
I've played through Victory and Rebirth 1 and found those enjoyable enough despite also having a lot of problems with them, but with this being an entirely different type of game I'm not sure whether to get it or just stick to the main series.

It's a very simple SRPG system with a transformation mechanic.
Each character has 2 passive abilities (Exp Up, Immune to some status effect, etc) , and a selection of skills from levelling up (5 Skills in total + 1 Special Move). Skills use SP which is the normal MP resource (it doesn't normally regenerate but there are ways to restore it using equipment), they can also be reduced in cost by having other allies next to the character using the skill. Skills are the standard fare: Damage, Healing, Status Buffs / Debuffs, Status Effects , Status Cures. When moves are discounted you get a global resource (Lily Points) which can be used for Special Moves (which are basically very powerful attacks) and to allow the CPUs to transform into HDD.

They also have different stats (the usual stuff and Move, Jump and Throw). There's also a Physical and Magic Resistance that comes from items but you have to keep track of that yourself.

Even the HDD works off a simplified version of the usual transformation mechanic (instead of saving up a personal resource, transforming and remaining transformed until the resource runs out, you save up a global resource, transform and remain transformed for 3 turns (One of Noire's abilities allows her to act 5 times in those 3 turns). They do use the processor mechanic from the standard games so you can customize the transformation a bit. HDD forms don't have different or additional skills (unless one of their passives only functions in HDD (all 5 HDD capable characters have -20% SP cost when in HDD) but it comes at a cost of a general ability.

Equipment in the form of Weapons, Armor & Accessories.

The unusual bits are:
Elemental affinities are equippable items so you can decide if you have one and if you do how strong it is (if you're far enough through the game to have access to the higher ranks)
Disc system (which works like in the standard games, take a disc insert Idea Chips, certain combinations are godly games which give 1 extra ability.
You can pick up and throw objects.
You select a leader before battle and that provides 2 effects on your entire side, depending on the character this can be 2 positive effects or 1 positive effect and a disadvantage.
There's also some kind of mechanic for swapping in characters that are sitting out a battle but I haven't unlocked that yet.
There's also the special features on most battle fields.

It's not a bad system but its not spectacular or particularly distinctive either. It's serves well enough though. .

The game seems to expect you to clear side missions before progressing. At least looking at plan item costs and the amount of Sim Points needed for Noire's room and the plans you get from it. It might be worth clearing them twice even, you tend to get plans/cassettes the first time and materials the 2nd+ time.

If you're playing on Easy though I imagine you could blitz through without them, if you made good use of HDD and the Lily System.
