Hyperdevotion Noire: Goddess Black Heart |OT| Neptunia Tactics

They really lost me on these games, they pump out so many now that it just isn't even worth it. I'd need to hire a personal assistant to keep track of all of them and take out a loan to afford all of them.

Main Series / Remakes for Vital (ReBirth)
Hyperdimension Neptunia / ReBirth 1
" Mk 2 / Rebirth 2 Sisters Generation
" V / ReBirth 3 (not in English yet)
" V-2 (not released yet)

Spin-Offs
Producing Perfection (basically idolmaster)
Hyperdevotion Noire (SRPG with Moore as main character)
Hyperdimension Neptubia U (Action spinoff/ Not released)

The remakes are basically enhancing the mechanics.
In story:
1 and its remake differ a bit, 2 and its remake are basically the same. But you can basically skip the originals.

Ooh oh, let me guess.
It's a two part Arfoire fight where the first stage is piss easy and the second one is her ugly monster form that has massive amounts of health and eventually uses an AoE attack that does 999 damage and inflicts all the status effects at the same time.

How close am I?

exactly, i tried about 15 times and couldn't win, the closest i got was being one turn away from winning, only to have all but one of my party members wiped out with one attack

Yeah, their final boss design is a mite predictable (and kinda mean).
Still, after so many tries, I'd kinda have to reconsider stats and approach. I suppose it's just the usual crazy jump in difficulty.

Question, not to far into the game but I just had a mission where I fought a girl that at the start I was told she could join me if I win. Yet I don't think she did, do you have to do anything special for that?

weird... they doing the OP final bosses in this game too?

In the rebirth games, I had to turn on 'weaken enemies' to not die from 1 exe attack even at lvl 99 that come at you with no rhyme or reason.

Is there no way to cheese it in this game?

There is easy, normal, and hard difficulty when you start the game.

get to the end of the chapter, you can't actually use any new generals until you clear their respective chapters

Any difficulty recommendations? I heard it was fairly easy even on hard but Dragoshi1's comment makes me wonder. I started on hard but haven't gotten to a battle yet. I'd rather not grind too much but I didn't want to breeze through it. I assume it's not too monstrously unforgiving even on hard right?

Double post

Just curious if anyone bought the extra characters? Kinda annoying they put those up on day 1.

How is that annoying? I beat Victory before they put up DLC and I'm pretty pissed I never got to play with CC2 at ALL because of that (and these games are not conducive to "playing it again" with the new characters, especially the non-spinoffs). I hope their DLC is all day one and very limited in scope from now on like the rebirth series honestly. I'm pretty fine with this game's DLC. A few characters (the only thing I care about), things that are basically "cheat codes" in the most boring way, and that's pretty much it.

It kinda sucks characters are DLC at all, but if the DLC integrates directly into the main game instead of being a new mode/map, it kinda sucks to not have it day 1 really.

I bought Sting and Tiara but haven't played past the intro cinematic yet

I just don't like the fact that they were not included in the first place. Day 1 DLC to me especially characters are a bit irritating but to each their own.

People use makers in nep games? Pretty much only use the cpus unless I'm bored out of my mind doing grinding stuff.

Shame makers and other people don't get HDD forms or something else.

Hm. Finally getting in here. A couple things:

Audio mix is off. Default voice is too quiet compared to the music IMO and unless I'm mistaken it's just very quiet in general.

The mouth movements are finally synced to the english voice in the english track! But is it just me or is there something a bit off about the "breathing 2D" implementation in this game? Arfoire's mouth in particular looks odd, but something seems weird. Maybe I'm just not used to the sync actually being right.

Noire's personality is obviously a bit off even in localization. I was kinda hoping IFI could do some fixing since the JP version had this issue already. It's not insanely off and her voice itself is fine but her personality just doesn't seem quite right.

Also Noire and Chibi Histoire on the same screen! I melted

BTW is there a word for the narrow-iris "evil eyes" thing that Underling and Victory-style Arfoire have going on compared to the rest of the cast?

Actually Cave and Falcom are very OP in Mk2 and Rebirth despite not having HDD. Victory "Solves" this by not having non-DLC characters that aren't CPU/Candidates. It would be nice if the non Cave/Falcom Makers were elevated to the level of the CPUs in some way other than HDD. They're all majorly lacking in skills for one thing.

I just don't like the fact that they were not included in the first place. Day 1 DLC to me especially characters are a bit irritating but to each their own.

It's annoying that they're DLC at all, but it's day one or nothing due to how minor and integrated into the main story they are. Plus it's a localized game so it's not like the content wasn't done months ago regardless of whether it was day one in Japan. Not sense in pretending they're not there until weeks later like NIS always did with the first set of games.

makers are way more fun to use than the CPUs, plus some of them are pretty OP, i usually stick to one CPU max per team

why would you expect IFI to do this when they're just localizers? and honestly the only thing that's off about Noire is that she suddenly doesn't hate men

i bought Tiara because she's awesome and i loved Fairy Fencer F, i'll get Sting eventually

I figured there's a setting for the audio mix but it's been like 20 minutes of dialog with no way to change settings yet

Noire is less tsundere, notably less (over)confident, it's extremely noticeable. And if they had to re-record all lines and translate all words it doesn't really seem that big an ask? Don't change the actual story but change simple things like how a line is given. I think most of the lines could be tweaked to be "more noire" without changing the flow of any conversations significantly. They already add in more jokes and stuff that isn't in the original in the main games. There was even a thread complaining about it (which I didn't agree with--I think it's great in this case).

I don't think there's any man-hate specific to any character, they just mock any men that show up (regardless of who is talking) because of the whole girls-only-anime-tropy thing.

Edit; Maybe I was a bit quick to judge the dialog animations. They can definitely do some new things prior games didn't do, though the mouths on some chars are definitely a bit weird. But Histy's little shrugs. Get...my insulin...

To some degree it makes sense that Noire's less (over)confident in this, the entire plot kicks off because Noire screwed up badly (her intentions weren't bad, but her judgement was and so was the outcome). She actually seems pretty sure of herself for someone who messed up that badly.

ETA - The volume mix/balance is in the Config menu on the main screen and accessible via system once in game. The in game cutscene (not VN / battle) voices are too quiet even when voice (&volume) are maxed and everything else is minned unfortunately.

While you're right, especially with stuff like Pay2Win weapons, the characters themselves weren't there on day 1 of the original release. I think RB2 had them wait a week to release DLC but I found that a bit silly.
RB3 has massive character DLC that only came out last week (and all for free to boot), so I'm wondering how IFI will handle that. It'd suck if they came out a week after release.

Shame makers and other people don't get HDD forms or something else.

You may or may not be pleasantly surprised if you get RB3...

This game isn't appearing for me in steam (EU). For Noire I only find L.A. Noire and for Hyper it only shows the hyperdimension neptunia rebirth 1 game.

Also, no Plutia in this game :(?

That's because the only games coming to Steam right now are Neptunia Rebirth (available now), Rebirth 2 and Fairy Fencer F (both coming later this year).

Thank you.

Suddenly, I have no idea why I was under the impression that this would be coming to the PC...

Been making slow progress through the game playing a couple of levels here and there. Sadly, because of my previous experiences with Rebirth which kicked my butt early on and made me quit, I started Noire on Easy to avoid having to do any grinding. It may get harder, but so far I am on chapter 5 and there is little to no challenge in the game. The game play itself is nice and it introduces some nice quirks and interactions with the map, but I got this for the characters anyway. It's a fun little game, nothing outstanding, but not abysmal either.

Don't worry bro, I'm on Easy too and almost done with the game. Nothing wrong with that.

Her personality is screwy immediately following the opening animated cutscene though. She acts extremely Noire in that, then is suddenly generic ditzy protagonist when Eno/Player show up, then is mostly back to Noire when interacting with the other girls. It's weird and inconsistent. Not entirely a dealbreaker but you can tell it was a bit phoned in.

I'd definitely recommend playing on hard for anyone that hasn't started. The Dengeki free DLC items are basically cheat codes, it's not just a sword for Noire, but a processor set for EVERYONE that's significantly better than the starting equips. Not sure how long it takes to outclass it but it should make starting very easy if you run into trouble.

Just when I thought it was time for me to hop into this series I see chibi art style and srpg battle system my two hated things:/

Just get Rebirth 1 or 2. Honestly Rebirth 2 is probably the current best game to start on. Stories are unrelated (the games basically all take place in different universes with the same characters), and Rebirth 1 has some significant issues with polish (major, early difficulty spikes, one of the worse localizations, optional dungeons (or grind) are mandatory).

This one's cute but the story/humor definitely aren't as good as a mainline one. (I haven't gotten super far yet though)

hmmm beat one playthrough of Nepnep PP ("Let's Nep Nep!").... and that was something (I need a guide for that).

this shows up tomorrow, hope this makes a tad bit more sense :P

Noire pulled some crap on me, doubt I'll get pass that.
Chapter 9 starts with four battles, one after the other, with all characters, even the ones underleveled.

I'm currently on the second part of that fight, it's annoying because I'm playing on normal and have a bunch of underleveled characters. Grinding out lily ranks for the true ending seems like it's going to be a huge pain, too.

I tried playing it. Is it just me or is the framerate/game speed really slow? Just dragging the cursor along the screen feels sluggish. It feels like it should be on PS3/PS4/PC so the game engine doesn't bog down. This is after turning on all the speedup/skip options.

Finished the game, but I'm not sure if I care enough to grind out lily ranks with everyone on Noire to get the true ending right now. It wouldn't be so bad if there was a disc to boost lily rank ups like in the other games, but they didn't include it in this one for whatever reason.

edit: Went ahead and got the true ending, which was pretty underwhelming since it was basically just an additional CG. I'm not going to bother with the platinum trophy.

I haven't had this issue at all.

so whats the request stuff for? I wanan know what im getting into if I decide to scum save and guess my way through...

pretty much quit playing PP after learning that true endings are tied to answering choices right :/

The battles aren't bad but the whole thing of playing through the Missions 3 times and the Side-Quests twice to get all the items gets old hella fast. I'm playing on normal and there seems to be some odd balance problems too, the Corral the Suspicious! sidequest and first battle in Chapter 3 are much harder than missions that come afterwards (due to the Old Man Deus and the Skeleton with Power Breath respectively).

Its just for an additional ending segment that features Noire and the Secretary if I understand right.

As with all these games. navigating the dlc is a pain in the butt. Which stuff is worth getting?

Why are compa IF dlc? Weird having the worst units in the other games as dlc.

I'll be sad when Histy's briefings stop. She's too cute. I'm just in chapter 2 or something, keep getting distracted by other stuff.

Does Tiara start off with an OP weapon or something? She hits way harder than she should at her level. Need to use Sting now. They weren't too hard to unlock just before the first Lid fight, but I did do the other missions first

DLC is actually simple this time. There are stupid consumable item DLCs (but get the free ones I guess), character DLCs (IMO if you wanted these you should have gotten them instantly) and "cheat code" best equips in the game DLCs. Download the freebies and the characters (I ignored IF and Compa), ignore the rest IMO. Cheat at cost if you so choose. Also there's one to unlock all the music/event images/whatever too if you want (it's paid, a dollar or something)

The d pad cursor moves slightly weird if you hold it, that's the only thing I've noticed. Sometimes a too-long tap is registered as 2 tiles. Hasn't been a bother otherwise, the UI just takes a tiny bit of getting used to.

you can also just press square to switch between units quickly. Might just be me but this is possibly the best 3d camera control i've used in a SRPG. Just works.

Wonder when you start getting other elemental moves. So many flame chests I can't open atm (ch3)

Noire is also hilariously OP with her 2 moves per turn HDD form

Being able to freely move the camera is weird but does seem to work well. Not that it's especially necessary to play. Disgaea's system in general is my favorite though it's camera is weird. But it's also the one I've used the most by far

If it's anything like the main games, different CPUs have different elemental attacks (fire/lightning for noire, wind for Vert, ice for Blanc, Neptune is basically neutral).

Oh, THAT'S why I got two attacks per turn in that one fight but haven't seen it since. Speaking of HDD, audio mix is weird all over. You can barely hear the quote during the smooching animation due to all the other noise it makes. Not sure how people don't realize these are problems. Resogun: 30 FPS edition had a bad audio mix too...at least you can manually adjust it in this game.
