I feel this image in a teaser implies Sony is getting Crash back

I wonder how do you guys see an Activision logo on the trash bin?

i don't see it, but the trash bin seems pretty symbolic.

So much nostalgia.

I honestly love crash but I would rather have Naughty Dogs talents put elsewhere. I love platforms that...that being said I don't think crash holds up well today.

I've been playing it only over the last few hours and I reckon it holds up pretty well. It's certainly got those mid to late '90's platformer quirks but if there's anyone that can reinvigorate the franchise, it's Naughty Dog.

They've made nothing but serious games for years. Sony should give them a chance to let their hair down.

I think some of the ps4 trailers just have throwbacks in them, like how throwback thursdays is a thing now in social media, doesnt necassary mean these games will be on the ps4, im guessing

But im hoping im wrong

Id love for these games to come out, from the ads

A new crash game
Street fight 4 or 5
Crazy taxi

And also parrapa the rappa fromthe rumors going round, but not in the ads

I have no idea why anyone would want Crash to be brought back. It was serviceable in 1996, but the games have aged horribly and the character is an embarrassing relic of 90s cliches. What Naughty Dog does this these days is far more interesting than Crash Bandicoot.
This is crazy talk. Please elaborate if you're going to drive-by like that. Did you play all the games? Did you complete them? Did you play Mario 64? What other platformers have you played? etc.

He actually is, 0:23 to the left of Cloud.

Is this an important series for Sony? I enjoyed the original games but I don't think it would propel me to best buy any quicker to buy a ps4.

It's Sony's mascot! Playstation All-Stars bombed because he wasnt in the game and Cerny quickly made Knack to try and have a substitute in the PS4 library. It's absolutely an important IP to Sony or it should be. It would be like Sega without Sonic, Microsoft without Master Chief, and Nintendo without Mario!!!!

I played Crash 1 to 3, Crash Kart Racing (which hasn't aged as bad because it's a different game), and one or two of the Universal games, and revisited the PSone ones a few years back and they aged horribly.

Most games of that first 3D console era have not aged well, and Mario 64 is one of the exceptions—it is every bit as terrific today as it was 17 years ago. I've played plenty of platforms—a number of R&C games, Psychonauts, Spyro games, Jak & Daxter, Sly Cooper, etc etc.

Crash Bandicoot is absolutely embarrassing in a modern context. It's like wanting to revive Josta.

They don't. It started as a joke that the trash can symbolized Activision and the OP thought it was serious.

Yup... didn't really thought it was the Activision logo, but I thought maybe other people saw it better then me. Made the connection with the trash can joke later, so edited the OP.

This would be the BEST thing ever. A Crash Bandicoot 4...oh my god...
It would be my most hyped game EVER. Imagine what NaughtyDog could do with it!!

Why are people acting like Crash in 2014-2015 has to be linear like it did during the PS1 games? It can still have that Crash feel but open up the levels.

Also, the trash can stands for the Crash IP not being used. It's just sitting there and Sony is moving it out of the trash. I just hope this is true, tonight is going to be amazing!!

That would be fine with me, but I guess what most people associate with Crash that hasn't been done very well since is its signature tunnel platforming.

I know I'll be labeled a troll for this, but I thought Super Mario 3D Land was the closest thing to a Crash successor in a bizarre kind of way, because it used the same kind of perspectives and had skill-based platforming in the z direction.

There was some of that in 3D land. There was also a handful of levels in Galaxy that had that feel, but you're right. It was a great gameplay style, and the games were successful, and then the entire genre got pretty much completely dropped by the wayside by the entire industry when Sony lost the rights to Crash.

Activision kept trying to turn Crash into something else rather than make a game based on what made it good to begin with.

Open World, punishing 3d platforming...my god

You are crazy.

Crash 2 & 3 have aged perfectly.

You haven't even played Knack yet....lol

People need to stop listening to journalist and listen to themselves when playing a video game....
This line of thinking is beginning to infuriate me. Are you telling me that we no longer have the mental ability to observe game footage and read impressions of the game, finding connecting criticisms, and using that to make an educated guess on whether or not I'd enjoy it?

I've watched enough Knack to understand what's happening in that game, and it appears that my opinion and the vast majority of people who've played it seems to line up: This game is hot street trash. Unless this game secretly performs oral on you while you play it, I know how it plays already.

I think it's pretty clear Sony hasn't got the Crash IP. But they're pretty cosy with Activision, so I wouldn't be surprised if they've moneyhatted them for it.

Calling all insiders! Mort! Verendus! GopherD! Thuway! Any comments?
If this ends up true, and is revealed to be in development tonight, I'll have a meltdown while I'm in line.

Verendus did say there would be an Activision exclusive, right? Do we know what that is?

Of course it's not Crash, but it's nice to dream

No, I think you're onto something there. Super Mario 3D Land/World-type levels would lend themselves very well to classic Crash gameplay, I think.

No. It was awesome.
Crash Bash got pretty bad, but it was fun.

i really want to see someone try and make a classic crash. i think it's corridor approach to 3d level design makes for a really fun and well paced challenge that's still valid today.

i think it's basically impossible for naughty dog to return to it though. they're a very different studio now, remember how they thought about ways to make jak a bit darker before the last of us. there's nothing they can do to crash to make it fit with the kind of stuff they do.
