I love Playstation Now

Can't you buy many of the games for cheaper physically than it costs to "rent" them?

I'm not sure, I guess it depends where you are and what the game is.

But the real market for this is people who don't have a Playstation and don't necessarily want one - but would be interested in playing some of these games on their TV/iPad/whatever. So looking at it from the perspective of someone already invested in PS3 might not be the way Sony is looking at it ultimately.

This is definately what Sony wants as they see the traditional market retracting, if they can be the ones to offer games as a service they might strike gold

Man, I want to love this so much, but I just can't justify the prices. I am a physical media type of person, I will by some light titles digitally, and this is a step below that even in value. Maybe it will be good for demos or something if they don't make some sort of pricing change.

I want this to succeed if only because the gaming industry needs Sony to stay profitable and competitive.

But, as a gamer and price-conscious consumer, my view on the pricing model is that its whacky as hell and completely unrealistic. This is going to crash and burn unless Sony figures out a way to bring pricing more in line with a Netflix style model, perhaps with different monthly pricing tiers giving access to different groups of games. For example, the top "Platinum" tier gives access to everything, "Gold" to everything except new releases going back, say, 6 months. "Silver" to everything older than 1 year, etc....

They could offer a bunch of sub-tiers for gamers only interested in certain genres or specific games, so, for example..."Action Adventure", "Western RPGs", "JRPGs", "PSOne Classics", "PS3 HD Collections", etc... This would allow disparate groups of consumers to jump in at various price points and try a variety of games within a specific genre they like and to spend as much as they are comfortable with while feeling like they have a chance to try out a bunch of games and get a feel for the service.

On a side note, one of the main problems Sony seems to have is their general inability to properly and efficiently organize things as demonstrated with their PS3/PS4 UI and the general mess of the Playstation Store. They really need an overhaul on all of their devices in this regard. Perhaps offering a nice, organized front-end with smart, monthly pricing for PSNow would give them an excuse to re-organize their other products as well.

But I wont hold my breathe. If these early indications are what they are really going with for PSNow, this thing is going to under-perform badly and likely need to be scrapped and re-purposed.

I would love to see them extend the remoteplay features to tablets, laptops, smart tvs etc. PS Now is a great idea, but if they can turn every PS4 into your personal $400 data centre the possibilities for cloud gaming become a lot more interesting.

I'd like to imagine that in the near future i'll be able to take my tablet to bed with a DS4 and play FFXIV or Infamous while my PS4 hums in the living room. It'd be a great way to make DS4s the default controller for ARM devices since Microsoft already has the PC pretty much locked down when it comes to native support, and this feature works so well for the Vita already. I know the Vita was specifically designed for perfect remote-play, but the opportunity is so perfect I hope they don't push this potential feature to their next console instead.

Charleston, SC. The "experimental" Comcast cap here is 300GB. You'd be amazed at how fast one chews through 300GB. Business class is entirely too expensive. They didn't institute the cap here until late last year as a supposed experiment. Imagine my rage when the CEO of Comcast made that comment after the investor call claiming that they have no intentions or plans to introduce bandwidth caps. :|

Thats strange, there must be different Comcast pricing plans based on region. Here in Oregon (and I know Washington State, Cali, Idaho are the same) business class and consumer class are exactly the same price. They did recently bump it up from $60 to $70 a month for the 16/2 package which in itself is a horrible value proposition when you consider what Google Fiber gives for the same price (1gb down). But, at least Biz class has no caps. I have no idea why anyone in the Western states would go with consumer class other than ignorance...or perhaps bc of the bundled tv/phone deals (I dont bother with either so biz class works best for me). Theres a good chance Portland, OR is going to be one of the next Google Fiber cities and when that happens Comcast will lose thousands of customers overnight. They may even have to get serious about offering faster and cheaper tiers. Such is the nature of competition.

But for now, Comcast is going to try to milk the sheeple as best they can while the milking is good. They currently have zero competition in several markets and our govt is too bought-and-paid for to actually get off their asses and do their jobs. There is a clear need for anti-trust action but it wont happen until industry consolidation and the rampant anti-consumer price fixing gets a lot worse than it already is. If I had to guess, I think whats going on in SC where you live is simply Comcast pushing this behavior in "test markets" where they have friendly Republican legislatures and a higher chance of success due to a disengaged or more big business friendly electorate. There would be push-back on this here in the west, so they'll save us for last, or at least until they can push thru the Time Warner deal. But, assuming we do get Google Fiber widely distributed in Portland, that wont matter. They'll have to actually compete.

I absolutely love this idea but I would guess this wont happen while they are still trying to sell the ill-fated Vita. This makes a lot of sense though. So, they probably wont do it. Lol

I can't believe people support this shit (streaming games from the internet... ew) instead of pushing for Sony to make it so that you can play PS3 discs on PS4.

Why fight something that's pointless to fight? It's not going to happen, so it's a take what you can get situation.

I remember Andy House out there at (I think this year's E3) talking about extending upon the potential of remoteplay because of how popular it's been on Vita. I believe they are working on this idea, however whether or not it will be implemented into the PS4 remains to be seen. There's still a list of promised features they have to get through (:

It seems visuals have been improved significantly. At first it looked like smoky garbage. Now it basically looks like a Ps3 game, especially if i turn the sharpness all the way down on my TV. I just finished Dead Island Riptide. Input lag is almost totally gone. I was playing MGS4, and it feels just like playing it on Ps3. (And i am using a kind of shitty router). I did the 90 days of MGS4 for 14.99. I wish they would just let me fucking buy it and stream whenever i want. I want MGS4 in my digital library for good! I have never played Ninja Gaiden 3: Razor's Edge. Well, just the demo. Should i rent this, and try to finish it next?

Good to hear about Riptide. I will tell my "friend" to give it another go. ;)

Yes, but how many games was he able to play with that $100? And how much would it have cost him if he had to buy those PS3 games now, some of which may be out of print now and also not available digitally?

$100 can get you pretty far on craigslist and ebay.

I do admit the 4 hours for 2.99 thing is bullshit. It should be 24 hours for 2.99 for ALL GAMES. they better change some of that shit.
