I tried a Monster Energy Drink

I have a Monster every day, but I balance it out by never drinking soda, juice or coffee. Milk, water and Monster for me. It's not stellar for my health but I'm young and naive.

Tried one yesterday because my work was giving them out. It gave me a little energy but i can't see myself drinking another one unless I'm tired and don't have access to coffee

Replace this garbage with coffee.

Ten times as delicious and 0 calories. Also, it doesn't make you look like a brain-dead 14 year old when you drink it.

Be careful OP I used to drink Redbull often, it eventually made my anxiety kick into overdrive one day. I thought I was having a heart attack luckily it was just a panic attack. Now I can't drink anything with caffeine or sugar. Be careful.

This actually happened to me a few years ago, though for a different reason.

Having a lot of caffeine also triggered it. It's gotten better since then, but I'm still not 100%

I will never understand why people who down Monsters constantly don't just switch to caffeine pills.

It's easier and cheaper. The caffeine content is roughly the same, plus you can split a pill if you don't need the entire dose.

Caffeine pills don't taste like Monster.

Green Monster is probably one of the worst tasting energy drinks I've ever had.

Regular NOS or Sour Apple Rockstar are God-tier

Congratulations, monster Is the greatest drink I've ever drank!

I wish they still sold those massive BFG cans, I felt like a toddler holding them, needed 2 hands

When I worked retail in high school I'd have one every now and then if i had a really long shift, but I don't really think I ever felt anything from them.

I've tried NOS as well and I liked it, but as I got to the end of the can I enjoyed it less and less. It was weird.

Never tried Rockstar or Full Throttle.

I used to drink it when I played CSS competitively. That is until my left tricep started twitching, uncontrollably. I stopped immediately and now I can't even smell the stuff.. Makes me gag

once I started getting jitters and that disgusting feeling, I realized I had to stop drinking them. I use to drink 2 cans at a time.

It's fucking delicious. I love sweet things, so this was right up my alley. The carbonation just bounced off my tongue like a flavor firecracker. And then it happened. THE BUZZ. I was officially high on caffeine and taurine. My entire body had this actual buzz about it and I felt like I could play CS:GO competitively with ease even though I never played the game in my life.

That bubble will burst as soon as you lose pistol round. :P

Try not to behave like Peter

I drink about 2 cans a week but always the sugar free or reduced calorie versions.

This is my current fav:

20 calories in the can and it tastes awesome.

Generally, I just stick to coffee and diet soda.

First time I had an energy drink I was like "this must be what the characters in Final Fantasy feel like when they drink a potion" cause all my fatigue and weariness was GONE. But I stopped drinking energy drinks because...well...they're awful for you.

Tried Five Hour Energy but it tastes like shit.

Coffee is king.

I can't say this is 100% from all the sugar free Rockstar and Redbulls i used to drink but a couple years it got to the point where i would get these spells where i would hear like a feint ringing and feel light headed and once i stood up and my whole body like went numb/light and i legitimately thought that was it, that i was gonna die. I wasn't sure it was the energy drinks till i stopped for like 6 months and was working a lot of overtime and started drinking 2 a day again and it started happening again.

I completely quit all caffeine/sugar drinks to the point where i guess my caffeine tolarance is back to a normal persons (i used to drink 3 cups of coffee in the morning) and now i can drink a diet coke and it give me the caffeine i need or a surge if im feeling real tired.

"Can't go a day without" God damn man. Do people feel so shitty normally that they always need some chemical enhancement... Whether it's a energy drink, coffee, prescription drug, weed, getting drunk.

I mean I've done all that shit too, but I would never feel like I need any of it daily cuz I also feel pretty good normally.

I do rock out a Monster Mocha every now and then, but I don't think I could drink one every day.

That's addiction for you.

I too am a fan of Monster Energy Drink. I don't get a high from it like the OP, but it does help me stay awake (I am in college with a brutal schedule).I only drink two a week, though. My favorite flavors are the yellow Citron and the orange one. I only drink diet/sugar free Monster Energy Drinks.

My girlfriend used to drink these almost everyday. Now, it's more like 2 a week thankfully. It's the only thing that can help make her less tired(due to her headaches). Do these caffeine pills work just as great? I'd love for her to just stop drinking Monster, and find a healthier alternative to get that extra energy.

I used to drink two energy drinks a day and topped it off with a bag of Haribo candy, and got super fat. Don't be like that me. I also got the horrible headaches every weekend.

OP, I've been there off and on for a few years now and I will proudly admit that I've been clean of energy drink influence for over 6 months now.

They are indeed addictive and it becomes very hard to shake it off - you get into this vicious cycle of self inflicted idiocy - Getting up , feeling tired (going to work/school) , having a monster to wake up , the caffeine and such wakes up up for a little while and then leaves you feeling even worse , get home , have a nap , because of nap you fail to go to bed at a reasonable time and sleep poorly so you get up the next day feeling even more tired , need that energy drink more which makes you wake up for slightly less time , feel slightly worse , nap for slightly longer , sleep even wore at night and so on.

Just quit drinking them for a week straight and you'll be amazed at how much better you feel. This will make the second week easier to stay off them and instead of getting into a cycle of idiocy you'll get into a cycle where you sleep better and don't need a can of sugar and stimulants every day.

Worth mentioning that I still have a single cup of coffee just about every day but 1 cup of coffee is simply not at all like an energy drink.

Caffeine pills can hit you hard depending on how used to caffeine you are. People tend to sip drinks over a period of time, while the pill goes straight for the gut. Will you eventually grow a mild tolerance? Probably. I was taking three pills in a day at one point, but then you just go without for a day or two and reset yourself.

What you shouldn't do is take a pill and a Monster together. If you've reached that level of caffeine necessity, time to take a break if possible.

They are not good for your health. Its all in your head OP, you have the energy, believe in yourself. All you need is water and some willpower.

I used to drink energy drinks everyday but after awhile they started to make me feel like shit. My favorites were Monster Khaos and Rockstar. Now I just drink coffee, tea, and water but maybe once or twice a month I'll treat myself to a soda or energy drink :)

I wish I could get the green Monster without the caffeine or any energy enhancing substance. I really like the flavor.
I just feel like my hearts going to explode after drinking one. Which is like once every 6 months.

I'm extremely addicted to monster or red bull. It's one of those classic cases where you continue to do something without getting the same effect that it once gave. I will say tho, drinking red bull in the morning towards the end of high school helped me with my depression. Tho, it was probably the vitaman B/taurine in it that helped the most, and caffeine.

I've started getting B-Vitamins and energy flavor packs that have caffeine (to put in water) to start weening myself off.

Switch to sugar free at least

Ultra Blue is amazing

It really is. It's the one sugar free variant I find actually tastes like the real deal.
Granted, if you eat anything containing actual sugar it won't taste anything, it's like normal sugar cancels out sweetener :lol

Isn't that what the "Rehab" one is for? Caffeine and sugar free?

Edit: Nope, that's a different beast altogether.

same with pre-work out powders.

you can actually OD on caffiene that way, especially since unlike coffee/tea/energy drinks (at least the no sugar ones), there is plenty of water to keep you from dehydration.

I might ruin your life right now, but they do have a caffeine free version. It's called Unleaded:
