False. It broke records at launch. It broke records the following the following holiday and it in the two years on the shelf it averaged 12 million a year.
This is all with the massive hate it get on forums since day one.
What is very similar about the lead-up to the Xbox One console and Kinect launches is the prophecy of doom on the forums and the negative info out there in the gaming media and blog sites. Both, proved to be meaningless as Kinect was an overall success, especially in comparison to Move and the waning years of the Wii.
I don't know how anyone can say that an iPad is a one dimensional product. It can certainly do a hell of a lot more than an Xbox One can.

PS4 has Naughty Dog, better hardware, lower price, ps+, and no mandatory camera. The choice is pretty easy.

A.) the community isn't split by any real definition of the word; unless you mean 85-15 in favor of PS4. That's as close to fully united as the game community gets on anything.
B.) The fact that you believe this situation is the way it is for "no reason" gives away your motivation. Nobody could have sat here since May 21 and come to that conclusion without being extremely intellectually dishonest.
Protip: The community isn't overwhelmingly negative about the Xbox One because they're fanboys!

At this stage of the game, I have not seen MS focus at all on how Kinect would be used for core gameplay. In fact, what they seem to be focusing on, is how it improves secondary or tertiary aspects of the Xbox One. For example they've talked how it could be used to drive the UI, or more recently recognize players to load preferences etc, however not an ounce of time (that I recall) at E3 was focused on games for Kinect 2.0.
I don't disagree, for the record, that MS has a price issue on their hand here. However I think on GAF the "strengths" that MS are counting on (TV Integration, UI to "unite" the TV/Game experience, focusing on cloud computing) are completely discounted and only the gaming aspects are compared. IN this forum, that makes sense. Is that how the rest of the world will see it? I don't know, and I'm sure it will vary greatly by region.
You guys says this like there's going to be amazing cavalcade of Kinect 2.0 software to try, that he's ignoring. All I keep seeing is one title mentioned: Kinect Sports.
Which is why I made the point about saving $100 without making any compromise to do so. That's going to be the PS4 vs XB1 proposition this christmas. First party software will be limited, 3rd party will be a wash with neither having major exclusives at launch and feature sets will be comparable for both consoles. What differences you can string together won't generate enough interest for most people to overlook the $100 discrepancy which they'd probably rather put towards more games.CouldbeWorse said:

I believe the iPad is worth it's price, it's my mobile net access, timewaster, mobile TV, portable music player around the house, games machine and thats before I get started on some of the more esoteric uses I use mine for (Such as a quick and dirty RTA).
I don't believe the Xbox One is worth it's price though, although I wouldn't be surprised to see myself pick one up in a year or 3 after a couple of price drops.
I'll be picking up a PS4 at launch though, Sony have just hit all the right notes for me, similar to MS during the early 360 years, who I think have not only dropped the ball, but also sent everyone home who knew the rules to whatever game they were playing the first place.
Just IMHO of course.
I hate Apple products so your generalization already failed, but just in case I'll list a few SURFACE examples:
1. Any videogame involving touch mechanics
2. Portability (includes functionally distinctive features like portable tv and movies and music)
3. Takes pictures/videos in a meaningful way (I don't have to tell you that although the Kinect technically can do both, the ability of a picture or video taking device is literally transformed by one's ability to take it with you)
4. Procreate/Express/Etc
5. Be an eReader
6. Be a GPS For your Car
I just listed off 6 things that I literally didn't even spend one second to think about; there are probably about five hundred other things that people who actually use Apple products can elaborate on.

It's obvious he's not happy that Kinect is forced with every system so it could be his way of expressing his frustration with the matter.
Also, I used to think that GAF was slanted towards Sony, but really there are groups that reside in each camp or those of us who try to straddle the middle not really caring to take part in this silly console war. They may be the loudest or most active group on this forum right now, but what do you expect when Sony has been making the right moves? I agree that this place has been annoying when trying to discuss Xbone topics lately, but you're still going about it the wrong way. If you have an issue with something said, it's probably best to report it to a mod instead of giving attitude and probably getting yourself banned in the process.

Maybe it's "underdog syndrome" or something? I think both consoles will be great but sometimes it's hard to see someone get kicked when they're down.

A. "Split" was maybe a poor choice of words. I didn't mean to suggest that it was 50/50. I probably should have said "divided".
B. There are tons of reasons not to want the new Xbox; there probably isn't a decent reason for anyone to hate it and post repetitive, off-topic posts in every thread they can find. A lot of people seem to be treating their console purchase as if they were casting a ballot which seems kind of ridiculous to me. I'm not a fan of MS, their business practices, or the way they're handling this launch but as long as the X1 is just a game console, I'll buy it for the games. I'd buy a console from Kim Jong Un if he was publishing the next Suikoden game.
Counter-Protip: Again, I didn't mean to suggest that anyone was a fanboy (Compared to every other forum out there, GAF is basically the United Nations). The negative response MS is getting is well-earned and justified but that doesn't mean we need to see off-topic, bullet-point con lists in every thread. Now about nintendo, i was actually talking about their WIIU strategy. In is to me at least a general consensus that you buy nintendo systems for 1st party titles. What i was saying is that the wiiu is not selling well becuase early adopters and Hardcore gamers didnt go out and buy it in flock and that was what nintendo was relying on, so word of mouth marketing was lost , sales are stagnant and they only sold 179000 software total in the last 6 months. No matter how you slice it.. thats not good.

Price is my main concern. With my wife and I's first baby on the way, money for gaming is going to be cut in half if not more. So that extra $100 difference will get me an extra game and halfway to a second.
I'm sure I'll get the Xbone eventually, but it won't be my primary console next gen.
