Funny how it would probably decrease the criticism the list gets by 90%, judging by this thread. But then it wouldn't make sense for IGN to stretch the release of the list over five days to build up hype over something meaningless.

I'm starting to wonder if Oblivion will even make the list. I would think it should be in the top 40(or even top 20).

Top 40 I agree, but only as long as Skyrim wasn't on the list, and that is obviously not possible. Oblivion had way more of a wow factor when it came out, Skyrim simply prettified and polished it up a bit, so having them both on the list seems kinda redundant (while many great games are getting left out - see the post directly below mine).

Ah yes, Lego Marvel > Skyward Sword & Smash Bros & ACIV. The ol' Occam's Razor approach to characters, give them only two button commands. I should probably walk away from this list before I see that Lego Harry Potter: Years 3-6 fills a lower notch than all the Uncharteds.

All I can remember from Uncharted 2 is brown environments and then snow.

I still can't believe the 10/10 that game received from Eurogamer, made worse by the fact that they gave the original Dead Space a measly 7/10 in the same month. Awful Story, Awful combat and I hated the art style aswell. Feels like all I did for the entire game was follow that golden trail.

It first came out in '04 for PC and a year later for OG Xbox, so it probably belongs in the PS2/Xbox/GC gen.

IGN did chose it as their game of the last decade though iirc, or was it best PC game? One of those.

There was this games magazine, can't remember which one (Mean Machines?) that had the score as an average of Graphics, Sound, (some other stuff), Gameplay and Tilt.
Really it should just be Tilt.

First thing that I saw in your list is Assassins Creed 3. So your list seems DEAD WRONG to me.

I guess their staff makes their own personal lists and then they merge them, deciding the order of items based on how many people included them, or something similar (that's how I'd do it, anyway). Probably some discussion takes place, too.

Anyway, those things should have a "Decided by commitee" stamps all over them.

A review is done by one person, this list was put together by several people. Also when you have a few years perspective on a game you may realize it is better or worse. You shouldn't expect the scores to show up in perfect order.

The biggest issue I have with this list is how low Halo 3 was rated. Really, it's worse than Heavy Rain, FIFA 12, Fable 2 and Trials Evolution? Get out of here.

One of my favorite games of all time, not just this generation.

It's a phenomenal game. I think people get greedy. They want to actually be in Skyrim, like a holodeck, with every element of it's systems being a conglomerate of the best aspects of their all time favorite RPGs.

There's nothing particularly sacred or special about IGN though. Fancy website aside, they're just geeks with opinions like the rest of us. I've learned to treat lists like this one the same way as I'd treat a list from any random Gaffer.

EDIT: IGN gave Mirror's Edge a 7.3, and gave Uncharted 3 a 10. It's weird that they would disregard that just to shake things up. Granted ME is an amazing experiment, but the execution doesn't quite nail it. Oh well.
