I'm playing too many games at once!

First I was playing Wasteland 2, and I stopped that when I read they were going to release a graphical overhaul. Then I started playing Pillars of Eternity with a bit of Risk of Rain on the side. Then I stopped playing Pillars of Eternity when GTA V came out on the PC.

I'll probably stop playing GTA V when Witcher 3 comes out.

Is anyone else like this?

I can only play 2 games at a time knowing something like this could happen. Even then I prefer to make it so one game is one I experience alone and the other is one I play with friends.

Also helps I only consider buying a game when I beat my last one so that I can trim down my backlog (which would be 50 strong, but my 360 broke).

Ya I'm usually playing 5-6 games at once. Problem is it takes me forever to finish a game unless I really love it then I usually play that one the most, as well as still paying other games.

I used to play like5 games at a time but would never finish none so I do this thing now where I play no more than 2 games at a time(with a 3rd game thrown in sometimes that can be played casually like a multiplayer only game or something like animal crossing). If another game I want to play comes out ill just put one of the ones im currently playing on hold and eventually get back to it, sometimes itll take me a year to get back to but I always go back and finish it. Hell just today I finally finished up killzone mercenary and I had that since launch, really enjoyed the game except for the last boss. When will developers learn bullet sponge bosses in shooters are not fucking fun

I was supposed to go back to Type 0 when I finished Bloodborne but I jumped right into Dark Souls Durante Edition because the hype was too strong.

And Cities Skyline hasn't been touched in a month. If I can get some of these games out of the way before Witcher 3, I will be happy.

At least I held off on some of the indies I want to get. July should be a good time to grab them.

I was trying to play 5 games at once and burned myself out. It became a chore to dedicate my time evenly. Im going to stick to one on a home console and one on handheld.

The more games I try to juggle the more unhappy and burned out I get. Three is my absolute max at this point.

This.

Also, I usually set a 5 game goal for the month in order to put some damage to my backlog.

2 games that have no end game (sports, mp, etc)
3 games that have a ending.

Same here. I play at least 5 different games every day.

Just yesterday I was playing: Doom 3 BFG, Speedrunners, GTA V, Aliens: CM, CS:GO, MKX, Zombie Army Trilogy and Borderlands.

I have way too many games (thanks Steam) and I want to play them all. I usually play 1 hour/1 level or until I get an achievement and then switch to the next game.

This is on weekends, don't have so much time during the week.

I'm exactly like this. I have loads of games going on at the same time. Off the top of my head I can think of 7 current ones that I've started and will definitely finish. Good thing is I have a good memory, so I can deal with taking a week long break from games and still know what I was supposed to do when I left.

Currently playing: Star Ocean 1, Nayuta no Kiseki, Ys Seven, DMC4, FFXIII, Jet Set Radio, Dark Souls 1, Final Fantasy Tactics. And I will soon start Ys VI, Titan Souls and Axiom Verge (and maybe Skies of Arcadia).

A lot of these are replays (SO1, Ys7, DMC4, JSR, DS1), but yeah.

I don't mind. I change moods at every turn, so I never want to play the same game for too long.

I take waaay too long to finish any of these games (FFXIII I've been playing since last year lol), but I have fun, so eh.

Whenever I try and play more than 1 game at a time I get really into one of them and forget about the others.

Same here. I have a bunch of games i want/ need to play and there are still games i need to play and finish. Best thing to do is try to limit how many you play at onetime to completion.

yes but I don't expect to finish games so it's not a big deal. I'd rather sample a lot of games than push through one game that I started to find boring about halfway through. I do finish games but I sample a lot more games than I finish. I would probably finish more games if I had more time to play. I don't finish longer games only because they are long - it's also that there is so much filler content that just playing an hour doesn't give a good enough payoff to justify the time investment over playing an hour of some other random game that I didn't already put 20-30 hours into. Still I will finish some of those longer games - it just might take me 2-3 years. I'm still playing games from 2009-2012.

I usually play one game at a time, two tops. A multiplayer game mixed in is ok too. I don't let that shit get out of control though, as I like to finish the games I start.

I juggle several games at the same time but sometimes it's hard going back trying to relearn the control schemes, etc. Unfortuntely I usually stop playing a game when I get to a hard part so that makes it extra tough to relearn during things like a boss fight.

I have a shit ton of games, and I just sorta play whatever I'm in the mood for at the moment.

I don't finish many games...but I don't care. I'm having fun.

i can't really do this. i end up dropping many games in favor of others.

lately i've neglected other games due to unlocking shit in SSB4 and recently MK8 200cc.

Same I still need to finish type 0, but then I bought alien isolation and im almost to the end of that but then dark souls 2 sotfs came out and I started that, I still need to finish halo ce and halo 2 anniversary in the mcc, Then I bought mkx and im half way through the story mode, I need to finish rayman legends and lego the hobbit, and I should start child of light, and shovel knight comes out for xbox one in a few days. and yesterday I pre loaded the witcher 3....Will I ever finish a game again? Hopefully

I am now flooded with games after being done with Monster Hunter and Bloodborne.
All the ones i have been putting off to play those two just got added to my scary backlog.

that's the main downside of playing too many games. or waiting too long between sessions. e.g. I still haven't finished Starcraft 2 because I got to the level where Protoss make their last stand in some vision of the future (tons of units) and I can't remember how to play the game so I pretty much need to start the game over to learn before going back to it. Most games aren't that mechanically demanding though - it's usually just forgetting the story and some minor controls that can be looked up in the options menu.

I don't like to play too many games at once but these past few weeks kinda forced me to again.

I was focusing on Bloodborne alone and then GTAV/MKX decide to come out on the same day when I had both preordered. Then on top of juggling those 3 games my friend gifts me Killing Floor 2 yesterday.

It's a good problem to have I suppose, gotta finish these up before I move onto anything else.

I've been juggling so many SMT and Spinoff games at the same time, some of the different mechanics start to blend. Juggling games at the same time keeps me interested in the games however. I wouldn't wanna risk getting burnt out.

I used to hate playing more than one game at a time, but now I find that having a stable of games to cycle through prevents me from getting burned out on any one game. Right now my rotation involves Dark Souls 2: SOTFS, Star Wars: The Old Republic, Wolfenstein: The New Order, Skyrim (modded), Fallout: New Vegas (modded), and REmaster.

Is that a lot of games? Sure. But on the bright side I'm never bored.

Have the exact same problem and I only have PS4 and VITA right now. I think my head would explode if I had another system with a decent library like WIIU or PC.

When I beat a game I am both happy and relieved; why I appreciate shorter experiences like The Order, Monsterbag, & Bastion this month.

I won't list my absurd backlog on those systems, but I am currently at some place in:

SAO:HF
FFX HD
Wolfenstein
Helldivers
Resogun
Never Alone
Planetside 2 Beta
Rocket League Beta
Woah Dave
Driveclub new content

Yep that's me I'm currently playing through Dark Souls, Ninja Gaiden Sigma, Final Fantasy X HD, God of War III and Ori.

And Shovel Knight, Wolfenstein, Halo ODST XB1 and the Witcher are all releasing in the next couple weeks....

Yep this is happening to me right now, in the past I usually only played 1 or 2 games until I finished them but now I play to many at the same time and I'm afraid I'll finish none, right now I'm playing
Persona 3
Pikmin 3
Fire emblem awakening
Persona q
Shin megami tensei iv
smash 3ds and wii u
Sleeping dogs
Zelda a link between worlds
Animal crossing new leaf
And more that I have finished but still enjoy playing like mario kart 8 or hyrule warriors

This is me on my 3DS!

- Code Name STEAM
- Xenoblade Chronicles 3D
- Fire Emblem: Awakening
- Pokemon Omega Ruby
- Ace Attorney Trilogy
- Layton and the Curious Village
- Smash Bros 3DS

I checked my activity log and for April I have like 7 games (including Mii Plaza so really 6) with over 10 hours played for the month. Many of them are different genres or completely different takes on the genre so everything always feels fresh.

Same here! I have too much going on at once but will play one straight through if it's good enough. Meaning not playin others.

Also doing things like this makes it extremely hard to buy new games.

Before I got started on another playthrough of Fire Emblem: Awakening today I almost bought FE7 on the Wii U VC but decided to save it for the summer.

And then I look ahead to next month and I have Devil Survivor 2 and P&D both preordered from Best Buy lol.

Also have Majora's Mask to play too.

Luckily for me the 3DS probably won't have any new releases I want until September.

And then I look at my Wii U backlog and realize I never finished NSMBU or 3D World or Captain Toad or NES Remix.

Same. I'm currently juggling between:

Demon's Souls
Dark Souls 2
Pillars of Eternity
FF Tactics: WoTL
Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen
Tales of Xillia 2

I can juggle games but I have to make sure I only have one RPG or story heavy game at a time or I will get lost when I return to it.

I usually limit myself to one significant single player game at a time if I can.

But I often have multiplayer and sports games on the go as well (for something to just pick up and play when I just have a spare 20 mins)

For mobile games all bets are off- got many many games installed on my Vita and 3DS that I dip in and out and rarely finish of all the time (I commute a lot) but it's never really bothered me.

I usually only go with ONE "serious" game at a time. By serious, I mean demanding my attention from a gameplay or story standpoint.

I do throw in any number of quick jump-in, jump-out games though, to mix things up or if I'm low on playtime. Driving games, Diablo 3, mp, etc.

Playing multiple SP games at the same time is the worst. Don't. Focus on a single title, enjoy it, finish it, and then move on to the next one.
