Just found this hilarious one on Google haha, the audacity of it!

No Stalingrad memorial?

You can see some people at the statues base in the second photo.

There are so many absurdly awesome Russian War Memorials that it's hard to even pick a good angle on some of them. It's always been a fascinating point of comparison for me that the capitalist country has such minor war memorials while the communist one has absolutely amazing designs.

For the sake of counter-point, this is the Mother Iowa statute at the Soldiers and Sailors Monument. It's for the Civil War.

I was just about to post this! But you forgot one:

"Saint George defeated the dragon, Great Britain will defeat Hitlerism"

Yeah, i was still drooling with the first one when i reached that one. Both are AMAZING. Love the antropormized dpiction of La Patria (Mexico) in both.

At work there is a big poster in the locker room from wwii that says something along the lines of
"Spreading rumors cost lives, don't gossip.
Instead tell it to the FBI."

There was a whole line of "The downfall of the dictators is assured" posters that I believe were made by the British government.
All or most of them were also translated and released in Iran.

Why does Mother Iowa look like she's about to get freaky?

What is the overall message? I am not familiar with the current political climate there.

Well, it's not all one message. Are you not familiar with The Troubles at all? Some of them depict Loyalist/Republican history.

A lot of the murals aren't politically motivated at all though.

Loyalist mural:

Any mural with the tricolour (Irish flag) is a Republican mural.

The idea is Iowa was this young state that chose to go Union and she's offering up her breasts as nourishment to the young soldiers. It was just a different time period. People breast fed a lot longer back then, like up to age 5 in a few accounts.

But yeah. Hawt.

Are you sure that this is actually a propaganda picture or just some anti-semitic shit you found on the net ?

It's a funny conspiracy comparison from when Hillary had a shoe thrown at her. The actual caricature is from some real piece of propaganda somewhere I think.

Oh my god

Ive been listening to Hardcore History and they just talked about this

Amazing
There was no chance in hell Mexico could handle a war against the USA back then, the Revolution left the country in an awuful shape and the promises made by Zimmerman were too crazy even for the mexican politicians. (Venustiano Carranza at the time) He choose to remain silent and without even notice save the country of a bigger problem that they had at the moment.

Great thread.

I'm not into Franz Ferdinand, but their cover for You Could Have It So Much Better was inspired by Alexander Rodchenko's 1924 portrait of Lilya Brik.

That hardly is propaganda, is more in line of what we after taking a dump.

Say hello to Jesús Helguera, probably my favorite mexican artist
http://www.taringa.net/posts/imagenes/5542716/Jesus-Helguera-su-Obra-imperdible.html

I'm more a fan of Jesus Gonzalez Camarena (yeah, he's the brother of that other Gonzalez Camarena) specially this one:

I remember reading those books from my parents. I'll always have a fond memory of them.

She gets off on Xenophobia and Racism in the guise of Patriotism.

I think the key theme in propaganda during war time and memorials/monuments built after could be described as "subtlety is overrated."

Especially with the big monuments.

Sure patriotism can be ugly but sometimes the only thing that will do is a big fucking monolith that says "look at the beauty and horror of human accomplishment."

or, How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Realize This Assgrab is Delicious
It's unfortunate that the graphic design on a lot of these are so good.

And you are lynching negroes.

Are these in response to criticisms of the Pogroms?
You hate black people, jews and people in tuxedos? But you have trouble of hating them all at once? Worry no more.

CrDESYG.jpg

Got to see one of the originals of this, and some other choice propaganda, in a holocaust museum up in Manhattan.

About 70% of it consisted of "You think you might like this? What if I told you it was actually Jews?".
