Whenever DOTA 2 goes officially live do you think it has the potential to beat out LoL in terms of concurrent players? I'm not necessarily saying this will happen day 1 but at some point.
I don't think there is a chance in hell of this happening. LoL is the new WoW.
My thoughts lean closer to this than any other option. LoL is almost the equivalent of console owners/Call of Duty but on PC.
They would need a partner who can perform extremely, extremely well in China.
League of Legends, on a typical day in July, had 3 million concurrent players.
As if the DOTA 2 community has a sterling reputation.Seeing as all those LoL players keep getting banned, maybe they'll jump on DOTA 2 and ruin that community as well.
It would have to become like 10x more popular than it currently is which I just don't see happening. It's not like getting into the Dota 2 "beta" is hard at this point. Everyone I know that plays the game has +10 unused invites in their inventory, or you could just buy a key from the store for $20 or whatever it is if you don't have any friends.
By far the best moba community out there imo, but ya its still not great. As if the DOTA 2 community has a sterling reputation.

i'm sure it's possible. they're gonna need to dumb down the game some to reach a broader audience. Dota2 is a bit too complex in the items + minion kill parts
This one.Nope.
But really, who cares?
Guess it's time for the biweekly Dota vs LoL thread.
They don't have to and they never will.In LoL you have to unlock or pay for Champions which they are going to HAVE to change when Dota 2 gives them competition and alot of the champions seem to have very similar feels.
I'd like to see performance increased on low-end machines before I can say that it'll beat LoL.
A couple of people that I actually play LoL with can't even properly run DOTA 2 at proper framerates, so I'd like to see an improvement in optimization.
Something tells me LoL will be able to run on the next generation iPads.
Anyone who penetrates that market with a decent control scheme will gg for sure.

94% to 4%? fuck man, that is some shit numbers. I'd just given up.The DotA 2 community will be smaller, but it'll be like the way the Mac userbase numbers are compared to PC userbase numbers; not dominant, but sizable, steady, and growing.
I don't see it happening. LoL is easier to pick up and play. I also like dominion too much. 30-40 minute matches just aren't fun all the time, they take too long.
I read somewhere that dota 1 had higher concurrent users at its peak than lol had 2-3 months ago. This is ofcourse with China, so when dota 2 launches the gap will be smaller considerably.
