I get it the liberal celebrities are all butthurt etc but sheesh hes our new president man, politics asside. most of the world would kill (like our revolutionary war veterans had to) to have a peaceful transition of power every four years. thats what needs to be celebrated here. shame on people who purposefully backed out. you have a chance to show the world we can start annew and that despite our differences we love this country and everyone will do what they can to keep the dream alive.

I'd sooner die then legitimize Putin's teat sucking fascist child and his legion of doom administration. I love this country and those who symbolize what America is all about. Freedom, liberty, equality. The chance to build a good life, and the hard work its people put into making this nation a good home for all. The "Putindent Elect" is the antithesis of everything America stands for. He stands for division, for inequality, for injustice. He has already unprecedentedly threatened the freedom of speech, considered by most as the most important of our amendments. He will do more.

lol no

The piano guys twitter has a ton of messages sent to it about how people thought they were better than supporting trump. There's genuine sadness there, not anger.

I've been lectured by various conservative family members that now, we all need to come together in unity. I bet they wouldn't be giving me that speech if Hillary had won.

Of course not. And Hillary wouldn't have accusations of sexual assault and Russian collaborations around her nor daily twitter rants. There is nothing to get behind with Trump. If Clinton won the same people would be praying to God daily for an indictment over emails.

Was it worth it, Piano Guys?

Was it worth it?

I really doubt it

Of all the acts that signed up for this I think they are going to get hit the hardest. It seems to be 3 Doors Down and Piano Guys feeling the most heat on social media, and the former didn't have much to lose. The Piano Guys have a real following in certain circles, they're popular for what they do, and this adds an ugly context to music that is supposed to be peaceful and relaxing. And I don't see Trump supporters buying a bunch of "cello rock" to counter whatever losses they sustain. They fucked up.

That's a no from me dawg.

Trump is the antithesis of what I want America's future to be.

Why Trump’s Inauguration Day will be better without celebs
By Salena Zito and Dana Schuster
January 14, 2017

There will be no Beyoncé wiggling on stage. Bruce Springsteen, Ariana Grande, John Legend and Elton John aren’t going to be there either. In fact, pretty much every A-lister from the Hollywood and entertainment world has decided to skip Donald Trump’s inauguration on Friday. And whether or not Trump himself is wrestling with that public rejection, the people who voted for him are not.

The “blue-collar billionaire” will have a day that’s more befitting of the working-class base that put him in the White House: one without fanfare or celebrities or fancy couture (although his wife, Melania, will most certainly be dressed to the nines). Call it the People’s Inauguration, one that celebrates the ordinary American, and that suits his fans just fine.

“They could have zero entertainment at the inauguration, and I really don’t think for one minute that it would matter,” said Leslie Rossi, of Youngstown, Pa., a state that shocked the nation when it switched from blue to red on Election Day.

The people's inauguration my ass. Trump isn't even president yet and is already looking to pour more money in politics than ever before. He's great at giving his 1 percenter friends jobs that's for sure.

But anyway, that kind of response is to be expected here. "We didn't want celebrities anyway, we want to focus on the real issues like building a wall and taking away people's healthcare".

Where exactly are the good points?
They are just grasping at straw excuses to why he couldn't get any real acts.

You're right, it's an article from the New York Post.

Trump: We need someone brown!

Advisor: [thinks for 30 minutes].....Ravi Drums from Wii?

Trump: I understand none of those words but if he's brown book 'im!

Personally I'd put Ravi Drums up their with Buddy Rich and Hal Blaine but then I'm an expert.

Mentions of Puddle of Mudd and "the People's Inauguration" remind me of this parody on SNL.

UNDER-UNDERGROUND: CRUNKMAS KARNIVAL

Where exactly are the good points?
They are just grasping at straw excuses to why he couldn't get any real acts.

Don't think about it from our perspective, think about it from the perspective of the Gold Medal Mental Gymnasts who voted for Trump against their own health & interests.

They voted for Trump because they've convinced themselves he supports blue-collar workers over the rich. To them, that means "A washed-up dark-age-of-country singer w/ no 'Hollywood Celebrities' means he understands us." Horrible as their tastes may be, Toby Keith is probably more popular with that base than any artists from a previous inauguration.

...yeah naw breh

Chapo Trap House podcast was talking about how great it would be if Kid Rock came out with "MY NAME IS KIIIIIIIIID!!!!!"

Kid Rock is definitely the best living GOP musician.

Is Ravi Drums one of the signs of impending doom?

When he appeared at E3 is was the beginning of the end of the Wii.

When he appears in Washington it will be the beginning of the end of America,

Blue collar billionaire. I love how putting a fucking trucker hat on convinced these morons that the guy who lives in a gold plated penthouse in the middle of manhattan and flies in a 757 with his name on it is just like them. Use your brains ffs.

Holy shit 10/10 hahaha

"I am a celebrity- made one of the yuugest shows by the way, absolutely fantastic, all of you should go watch celebrity apprentice- so I could have gotten any A lister I wanted- and believe me they were blowing up my phone with all their begging. Sad! But I had to say no because this is the People's Inauguration, and by the way CNN- which is totally fake news...."

I think we've all seen possible spins on the no A list situation, and in the eyes of his fans he can do no wrong anyways so it's not like this will be a big deal on their end. Would be amazing if there was an anti-trump concert happening at the same time lol

I know most of the city will be cordoned off. Is there anyway there could be a block party, potentially attracting artists to attend and perform, that would be loud enough to drown out the inauguration? The media might not be able to resist covering it if there are a list entertainers there.

Elon Musk is a blue collar billionaire.
Mark Cuban is a blue collar billionaire.

Trump inherited his dads cash.

Again, Dubya actually had celebrities in his shit and yet, this has nobody and yet, the supporters will say WE DIDN'T NEED THEM ANYWAYS.

Never had anyone on my ignore list... you are tempting me to make you my first.

I mean, yeah having celebrities at his thing isn't important at the end of the day, but it is embarassing for him and I'm happy because I know he's furious.

The peaceful transition of power died when the Russians hacked us and succeeded beyond their wildest dreams. Events like these are what spurred the revolutions that those men fought. There is no starting anew, the dream has been dead for a long time, this is just the burial of its corpse.

Trump's dream for America is in no way my dream for America, so I'm not sure what we're trying to keep alive here.

That's like trying really hard to convince yourself that not having a prom date after constant rejection is actually a good thing because you're keeping your options open. It's the kind of transparent face-saving lie that a loser's mom tells him, which kind of accurate for the way the NY Post fluffs Republicans.

Speaking of a shitty inauguration.

Portable potty name 'Don's Johns' not quite right for this Inauguration Day

1484411369110.jpg

A row of portable restrooms, with the name "Don's Johns" covered up, is seen on Capitol Hill in Washington, Friday, Jan. 13, 2017. Virginia-based Don's Johns calls itself the Washington area's top provider of portable toilet rentals, but the name apparently strikes too close to home for inaugural organizers. Workers have placed blue tape over the brand name on dozens of portable restrooms installed near the Capitol for the inauguration. (AP Photo/Matthew Daly)

Jon Voight is the only one of those I've heard of. I'm English though maybe those are big names in America.

Three Doors Down were popular in the 90's with one hit, IIRC.

Jon Voight is a weird choice, though. What is he going to do? A play?

We can talk about what this country symbolizes all day, but the bolded has long been a massive problem throughout American history. Trump is just a symptom. He is another Andrew Jackson, Andrew Johnson, or even Nixon.

The one bright side of his presidency is that it will open a lot of eyes and make people realize that we are still very far away from ideals we based our country on, and that there's still a lot of work to do.

I guess I'm saying this because I've heard repeatedly that Trump is antithetical to American ideals. And maybe that's true in theory, but not so much in practice (from my perspective anyway). Although, I'd say you are right in the sense that it's unprecedented how blatant Trump has been so far.
